Well you can use any audio from the phone wich is good.
If I need audio (as a musician a lot) from my phone I screen record it and use the app „video to mp3“ and mostly put it in „Anytune“ to work with it.

This works really well!
Hooked up the midi out from Logic along with MTC and audio in from the iPad.
It’s marvelous! Everything playing in sync and what have you. There’s a few milliseconds of jitter so it’s not going to get you sample accurate results, but it’s good enough for the girls I go out with.
And with the spate of free synths on the iPad it couldn’t be a better time to pull that iPad out of the drawer and use it as an extra synth!

So you could use this for general audio sampling? Like on a train platform, pull out the phone and record the train coming in. Send that to Logic for a sound effect. Or two friends singing and jamming, record with the phone and use the live event in Logic?

Dude already mentioned it, but yeah ... Logic is a music production/recording software package-you have always been able to record music into Logic, haha. I don’t mean to be an asshole, but that is literally the point of using recording software. Your iPhone has a microphone like any other microphone you would use to record audio and send it into Logic. Microphones pick up sounds and allow you to record them.

@@79Glitch Thank you so much for explaining what a microphone is. Also what Logic is for. I was originally concerned about sampling quality, as in mic quality and sampling rates. Not is it possible, but is it worth it? And were people actually doing it with good results.

I was generally being a smart ass, but also kind of dumbfounded that it hadn’t occurred to you record sounds to use in Logic. I understand not everyone is a musician, and you may not have even had Logic or a DAW before, so perhaps you were just researching or curious? I get it-but it’s also fun to be a smart ass sometimes. This is a super way to record touchscreen based keyboard synths (like MorphWiz) from the iPad into Logic. I thought it was my secret till now :) On another note have you found any way to use the iPhone as a mic input into Logic. Thanks!

This isn't really a secret feature. You just need a proper AD/DA with multiple outputs. Route your audio to a stereo output of your choosing (say, 7/8) then setup an Audio track in Logic with the input settings of 7/8. That's it. That's all there is to it and you could always do this and in any DAW. I use Pro Tools and it's the same deal.
Of course you could dispense with all of this and just go analogue. In this video the iPhone is mentioned so you'd just need an analogue line level stereo 3/4 jack to XLR (+4dBu) cable and you're done. Record till you drop.

I just use black hole audio driver, set that as an output and then input in Logic. Can’t seem to monitor the audio for some reason but I don’t need to.

I’ve been working with iOS Apps in GarageBand, at first, as Auv3, and there are many amazing sounding ones. I wonder, Is It possible to implement Auv3 into Logic ProX? Making samples is alright, but it would be nice to benefit from resourses from each App as Auv3 , on a DAW like Logic Pro X.

If you have Focusrite interface, you can just use the Loopback channel to route your Mac’s audio into Logic. Way easier...

My channel only focuses on Logic Pro which only works on Mac OS. The Audio-MIDI utility is part of Mac OS and not Logic. As for which Mac OS, all of them for about the past 5-10 years. I’m not sure exactly when it was introduced.

How come I can't hear the audio from iPhone before I record, but I can see that audio is coming through, but no sound. but if I click record and play sounds from my iPhone, it then shows its recording the sounds, but I can only hear them when I stop record and playback. Stealing is definitely wrong but I think it should be allowed to use the music we pay for to listen to as reference tracks in Logic. Although I still buy CDs of the tracks I use most often to avoid data compression.

@@LogicProLife I isolated this to my iPhone , I recently updated from 15.3 to 15.4.1 and that’s when the problem started . I’ve tested other iPhones in my house that have not been updated and it works perfectly. Hopefully apple didn’t break this and they’ll update Midi ( I’ve read many are having problems also with midi apps crashing after updating to 15.4 :(

Recording songs from Spotify or Apple Music into Logic is a useless means of piracy, but this is pretty cool for devices that don’t have audio jacks anymore! 🤪

bobafruti not exactly when you use those songs recorded into logic as reference tracks for the song you are working on and then you can delete the song from those platforms in the session ...so no harm done

I miss the days of CDs, where I could rip a copy and use it in Logic as reference tracks. My real intent with this was to show how to do the same thing now that streaming wants to block us from using the music we pay for how we like. I thinks it’s fair to do that, but the foundational premise was that I pay for Apple Music in the first place and don’t pass music around. Plus, I don’t record any music this way for normal listening.... I stream it live for that so artists will get the money each time. 🤷🏻‍♂️
