- We’re going to show you how to do a banded overhead press in this video!
A band overhead press is a great option if you’re looking to build size and strength in your deltoid muscles. A banded shoulder press is going to focus primarily on your front deltoid, which is the front part of your shoulder.
Often this exercise is done using free weights and machines, but sometimes people will experience discomfort with that overhead press variation.
Doing a resistance band shoulder press will take some of the pressure off of your shoulder joint! Not to mention, you’ll get the benefit of progressive resistance where you need it most in the rep!
In this video we will demonstrate how to do a single banded press, a standing banded shoulder press, a banded single arm shoulder press, and a seated band overhead press!
We’ll talk through how to overhead press and proper overhead press form. With these tips, you’ll continue to get stronger overhead press in your training.

The seated press is essential for folks with lower lumbar issues..I put the adjustable bench straight upright and lean back. I use the medium plus light band till failure. About 4 sets of 15 reps. Shoulders looking decent for an old dude like me.
Agreed! Seated press definitely isolates the shoulder better and keeps the stress of of the spine and core.
Solid tutorial. For the single arm, I like to use a staggered stance and have the bands behind me, instead of in the front. I have a free different variations I use because it’s a regular in my workouts.
Thanks LaRosa! OHP is one of the fundamentals for shoulder strength and mass building, they are always in my shoulder day!
Great tutorial. I like the fact you call out the height of a user. Indicating you are 5'9" where I'm 6'5" definitely is an important call out for how to use the bands properly!
You bet, thanks for watching!
I am looking forward to performing this exercise with the band footplate that I preordered.
Yes, the Footplate certainly works well with this exercise! They are still in process of being shippedto our warehouse, but I promise they are coming!
Cool

First thank u secondly i have a problem with preforming shoulder press while sitting i felt the band is overstretched i did it well for both other standing stance but dunno why ..... What i like to see next will be forearm and wrists exercises thanks again

Excellent video! I do the same, however, NOT THE BLACK ONE! That's too much! I am not a SUPERMAN LIKE YOU! KEEP ON ROCKING!

2. When can we buy those shirts?
👍💪
Thanks Johnathan! There have been a couple of comments lately about the shirts, we'll put out an email poll to see how much interest there is.
Hi, I'm 6-6, with my arm stretched over my heart I reach to nearly 8-6, or 102 inches. That is roughly 2.5 times the length of 41 inches.
This can't be ok if 2x is the limit. Can I do the overhead press from my knees? Your bands stretch better than most but want to be certain.
Its good to be short sometimes…
You bet! It's all about perspective....see the glass half full side of things. :)
