So far my first month has been communicating with IT about business requirements, metrics and processes between Oracle, other systems and Power BI. I do not know how to write code or queries but would like to learn one day but that is where our IT team steps in.

Every organization has favourism for different tools. Most of the organization I worked with, prefers Power BI. In my current role, we uses Olik Sense. To answer your seconds question, you dont need to be proficient in python and R to be a BI Analyst unless that's the requirement of the organization, however it is always help to know these programming skills.
