Once Chase gets his deal, we really need a video on how much $$$ that 2019-20 LSU team has made in the NFL.
Gotta be slmewhere around 400m
Now just imagine how much money the NFL made off them??
Probably close to a billion….
I guess you heard Greenberg this morning
@@Drewswaggyyou realize the nfl provides the platform for them to earn this generational money right? Stop it
Definitely much more than that my friend. Every sustainable business 5x’s their investment per employee.
A hotdog and beer just went up to $ 50.00
How
No, that’s not how it works. Owners want you to think it works that way, but it doesn’t.
Teams, like any business, will *always* maximize their revenue no matter how much they pay their employees and they will always pay their employees as little as they can while still maximizing revenue.
They charge so much for tickets and concessions because there are enough people willing to pay that much. It’s just supply and demand.
The owners would charge a lot even if the players weren’t paid at all.
So the players collectively bargain to get the biggest cut of the revenue they can get.
The players union has also agreed to let the owners vastly underpay younger players so veterans can be overpaid, but that’s a different issue.
@@RJM1693 I doubt the rookies contracts will change much any time soon. There is just too much risk with draft picks being a complete bust and those contracts are essentially ironclad.
Yikes you think stadium concessions are what pays the salary cap?
Kinda think he was joking.....
As a Vikings fan I love this team and organization!
Not signing Kirk Cousins allowed for this deal to happen.
It is risky with Justin Jefferson coming off the injury.
I wish all NFL contracts were 70% salary and 30% incentives. It protects both sides.
Still remember on draft night when the Eagles took Jalen Reagor over JJ😂😂😂
13% plus of the salary cap spent on a WR! DANG!
Imagine allocating 30% of the salary cap on a QB and a star WR then juggle the rest on 51+10 guys.
Sorry bud that is total BS - per Spotrac Jettas is 3.33% of the Vikes 2024 salary cap, and 5.6% of the estimated 2025 salary cap. (And their QB Darnold is about 2%, and McCarthy should be about the same another 2%).
Let's not play guessing games beyond that. We just saw the entire analytical community get this year's cap wrong be about $12m or 5% and that was the current year.
@@robe2504 I was talking about year average and when I wrote the fine details about the contract weren't out yet.
And yes the 30% was hypothetical but it's not far fetched. Actually, look at the Cowboys: Dak and Lawrence account for 29.72% and their top five players for a whopping 48.36%
Obviously the rising cap drives all this but it’s interesting that WR pay is going up like this while at the same time there are so many good WR in each draft now.
Good but not great
They’re not Jefferson.
It’s definitely an offensive league!
Lions fan. There's only 1 receiver I've ever said, "He plays like Calvin" and that's JJ. Glad he got paid.
From a dominance standpoint I totally agree. However their game was sooo different. Calvin was faster and stronger and bigger I'd say a more physical dominance for Megatron. JJ is just so damn smooth some of the best routes I've seen ever, JJs body control is also insane. They both have that insane 50/50 ball win rate tho.
Yeah, he needs $35 mil per to feed his family 😂
He deserves it! The Vikings owed it to him just for all the fame JJets has brought to their end zones doing the Griddy! 🌠🎰
Oh yeah, that’s right. And how many rings did he have again ?? And why does JJ “deserve it” ?? For single digit TD numbers every year ?? Yeah, that’s outstanding 👍🏼👍🏼
@@stevenlitkey9354as if tds mattered bruh
Stephen and Jerry always say they want to save cap space so they can sign their own guys and then drag their feet in doing so and end up paying more. They see themselves as great negotiators but they usually end up paying more. I do not understand their logic. Truly baffling.
That’s why the Cowboys will NEVER EVER GET ANOTHER RING until Jerry is gone!
No way Lamb should get paid as much as JJ.
Why not? It's entirely between him and Jerry Jones.
Holt getting some love!
One of my all time favorite players.
Salary cap increases are fun. It was only 6 years ago that people were losing their minds that Matt Ryan broke $30 million/year in a NFL contract, now multiple WRs, edge rushers, and defensive tackles are making that. Offensive tackles are knocking on the door too: Sewell gets $28m/year and won't be top for long
It's great. Top guys give a lot to the game and keep the league alove/successful.
The way the salary cap is handled, and all the tricks and number fudging they do, it will probably be the normal case soon where you'll have 5 or 6 players on some teams making $35 mil per season.
Jefferson's salary cap hit is $8m this year and $15m next year. The fact is that Jefferson, Addison, and Hockenson combined will only cost $34m against the 2025 salary cap - less than Jettas theoretical $35m apy.
New York Giants fr screwed over the rest of the league wit that stupid ahh $40 mil/yr deal for Daniel Jones
He got what was fair market value. Like it or don't like it
Nah it was the Browns guaranteed money to that pos Deshawn Watson. And they only did that because Burrow and Chase are coming up
40 million is a good deal for a playoff winning quarterback. Unfortunately he regressed and got injured last year and now the contract looks foolish.
Um no lol. Everyone makes fun of it but the market adjust
Nope it was Dak when he got 40 never should have gotten that
As a Vikings fan you said it best! Great video! 🔥
I'd like to see what Jerry Rice would've gotten in todays NFL.
88 million at signing is insane but completely deserved, if I understand this correctly that leaves 52 million for base salary over the next 4 years (13 mill per year). I wonder if he will complain in a couple years about his low salary, I remember a player doing that before while completely neglecting his large sum up front.
No shade on Jefferson but the win/loss record will not warrant the contract. The Vikings are still the third best in their division.
Correct so why even bother with that contract. I would have just traded him for tons of picks
Only reason Vikings weren't a playoff team last season was because half their team was on IR.
@@eodyn7 Welcome to the NFL where every team battles lotes of injuries. Every team can say this. Teams that have won the SB have had as many as 17 players on IR.
@@landonic81 How many with a carousel of backup QBs?
Except team w/l records ar not what drives top players' contracts.
The whole Malik thing was absolutely made up. The national takes on JJ and Cousins have been consistently wrong. The Vikings have said throughout that JJ was going to get paid and he did. They also had a plan to draft a QB in this class for two years and they let Cousins go and picked a QB in round 1 and got a 1st round edge too while still keeping next year’s 1st.
Doesn't matter who is throwing JJ the ball, he is HOF bound. All the stories that came out that said otherwise were all just wishful thinking by the rest of the league and fans of other teams.
Yeah and Jefferson isn’t gonna win them a SB. Cool, go get a gold jacket and let the Lombardis go to the good organizations who don’t pay WRs that type of money
This is an organization that can screw up getting draft picks in, so they tend to get the side eye with management decisions. I think they were letting things play out hoping they could get a Herschel Walker deal. They were certainly smart enough signing him before Lamb.
With how high wr's salaries are getting it will almost be a cheat code to trade them the last year of their rookie deal and draft their replacement. Bills did that this year with Diggs and Coleman.
Nfl lists vikings as going 3-14 this year. EVERY year they sh* on the vikings and EVERY year we have to prove the nfl wrong. Its so stupid

I think Justin's agent must also be pretty happy today. Show me the money!
Brandon Aiyuk is also happy today. He wanted 28 a year, now that will look cheap.
Still not worth it. He catches 70 balls a year. Too much offensive talent on the team to justify another guy getting so much. Next year purdy will be up for an extensive after his 3rd year
I believe if Aiyuk would take 28 million the deal would have been done! JMO.

Nah he drops too many balls trade him and get some draft capital
The WR Market is out of control.
Yeah I wouldn't pay a receiver that kind of money unless I had a better QB throwing him the ball. Better off trading him and getting picks
Wr over pays are stupid Qb is all that matters. defesive player are more important than WR RB TE FB and maybe Oline. Give a 1-5th round pick the chance to be on the field and your fine if they run just ok routes. the Qb and Oline and the Cb/Saftey/LB detimine if they get open. all the Wrs in the league have very high ability to move. its more so a reaction and time to throw thing. good oline and a good QB youre unstoppable. oline is cheaper as well.

@@deemity7557 not entirely. They have 45 million in space as of right now in 2025 cap space. Depending on how soon they can get a deal done they can give up the 20 million extra they have as of 2024 season in cap space into Chase’s contract now so next season it’s not a big hit, then spread it out afterwards. The bengals have their pieces for the next 2 seasons besides a TE so they most likely won’t have a big 2025 FA anyways. Also other factors like cap space increase like it always doesn’t means more money and more space.

Yeah, that stupid comment sounds like a packed fan.

I mean it’s fine since the Vikings have a rookie qb and don’t have to pay him for a few years. If they had a qb contract coming up im the next year or two this would be a bad spot but since they don’t it’s fine for now
It’s all about peaking!!! Lombardi to the Vikings in 2026!
They can pay JJ as much as they want, as long as there isn't anyone of note throwing to him, JJ, despite his fabulous talent, isn't going to get the Viks through the playoffs. Not any more than Tyreek Hill could take Miami anywhere.
QBs and WRs taking up half the salary cap now 😮
Half the salary cap is $127.7 million. The highest paid QB plus 2 Justin Jeffersons is still less than that.
And those teams are not gonna come anywhere close to Super Bowl Sunday.
All of those stats don’t mean anything. I think paying a WR that much money is a waste.
When ever does paying a WR that much translate to a SB?
Nobody is worth that much.
Huge Vikings and JJ fan, I so badly wish I could see the texts he's getting from his teammates about it I'm sure it'd be really funny. Also I wish I could see what Kirk said to him.

That is an unreal amount of money as a lion's fan. I'm glad we got Saint Brown done before Jefferson. Now his deal doesn't look bad at all
What?? Jefferson is better and should get more than St Brown. I love the clown, homer fans who can't see past their fandom.
@@kyliedadify never once said Brown was better than Jefferson just happy Brown for done first cuz I guarantee Brown would have got a lot more guaranteed money
Looks like it should. Jefferson just made the Lions first two picks in the 2024 draft and that probably won't help.
Jefferson is averaging nearly 200 yards against that Lions D, even with Nick Mullens throwing him the ball...
Enjoy Gibbs and his rookie contract, because those Goff and StBrown contracts are going to bit you back in 2026. Unless, of course, Lions go the Chiefs' way and restructure like crazy.
@@jeanfourcade got to remember Gibbs is a running back and the running back market isn't nearly what the wide receiver market is so be easy to sign Gibbs again and if not you just re-draft another running back
And, Jefferson didn't even play the first 4 games of his rookie season. That's 11 games that he didn't play in, yet still broke all of these records. Crazy!
Great great content
Why does the price have to go up? No quarterback should be earning more than Mahomes.
Why not? Because no QB can even polich his cleats? Any owner can pay his QB as much as he wants, it has nothing to do with performances and trophies. Look at what the Dolphins or Jags are about to do !!!
@@jeanfourcade The best player should earn the highest salary. Simple logic. Sure someone can decide to pay their quarterback more, but that kind of decision making is why they don’t win.
@@Thomas-Truth Problem: who's to say who the best player is? No one can. Everyone (coaches, GMs, owners, fans, media...) has their own opinion. Moreover, who's to forbid a team, say the Dolphins, to pay Tua twice as much as the CHiefs pay Mahomes? Dolphins ar fre to manage their cap as crazily as they see fit! So it's up to each GM to determine how much he should pay a player relatively to what he brings to the franchise (on and off the field), regardless of what other players bring to their respective teams.
Overpaying a WR means your team is out of balance. What good is a Ferrari WR in the garage when the only thing you have to make it run is watered-down gas as QB? Ask the Dolphins and Raiders how that goes.
Isn’t ever hot there? It is summer .. rich always has a long sleeve sweater on lol
Rich, Rich, Rich: people who have success like this do so because: they are very talented, they usually have great health, they play with other fine or even great players, usually have very fine QB's and are part of a system that fits them well. When one player gets a contract like this in the Salary Cap Era, the team is hampered in having the pieces around him to succeed as well. He is a terrific player, but let's see how he does under this contract.
Another trend that I see is the production contracting because of trying to live out the contract. With all of the guaranteed money that Justin is getting, that will probably NOT happen with him. He will try to do his best, I would guess!
An example of a team suffering like this was the Seahawks. They didn't want to lose the players that got them the Super Bowl. They just couldn't afford to keep them all and pay everyone else anything like they deserved to get. And they were not the same team after Russ finally got off of his third round draftee's contract.
So Jefferson's new deal is awesome for me as a Vikings fan and I also see this is putting pressure on Dallas to either pay their players or they are gonna have to start making more tough decisions if they keep dragging their feet like normal.
Remember Dallas is all in🤔🤔🤔
Still don’t know what that means as of now because Jerry Jones hasn’t done anything…..
Am I the only one disappointed at the lack of the Tua drop “I don’t know about you but that look like money”

@@sterlingcunningham2399 Orgs can be split sometimes and guys with doubts do not speak up. Anyway the WR market is officially nuts.
Is he worth that money? Yes. Will this type of contract inhibit the Vikings ability to build a complete roster? Also yes.
So he's NOT worth the money, if paying him makes the team worse. According to your reasoning.
I’m glad the owners are paying up. The players deserve it. They will make more money if they sign good players, as it should be.
It's so nice to see you guys giving 150 millionaire players Roku sticks and sweatshirts
If more and more talented WR come out the draft, I can see the WR market ending up like the RB market. JJ is the only exception. Why pay 1 when you can get a younger guy for cheap.

Hey Rich, what do you think J Love is gonna get on an extension/new contract?
It’s amazing that J Jefferson’s contract could be obsolete by this time next year. Making Bank in the NFL .
$110M guaranteed for 10 receptions/game (on a good day)? Salaries are out of control.
NFL revenues, hence the cap, go up basically 10% every year. Why is it so surprising that contracts for key positions (1-QBs, 2-WRs, 3-DLs) go up accordingly? Star actors get the big checks because they attract big crowds, hence big revenues. In the NFL, as in the film industry, the ultimate big winners are the owners/producers. Expect to see the guaranteed 60mil/y limit hit before the start of the season.
It's my understanding that the guaranteed money is really 88 million. It's only 110 million only in case of injury. I could be wrong so if anybody knows better please correct me.
What's more likely, the NFC North gets 3 teams in the playoffs or Dallas makes the playoffs, lol
Now ceedees contract is gonna be crazy too 😂😭🙈
Dallas won most games at home against weak teams (couldn't beat better teams away) c.d lamb got a lot of stats at home games.
I feel like the Dolphins are in a tough spot now. With the Hill and Waddle contracts already at $60m+ combined, and having to probably pay Tua $50m+, no idea how they will manage that. At least the Vikings have Addison on a rookie deal, and a cheap QB (Darnold this year for $10m, and JJ on a rookie contract). The real interesting thing to me is, they did NOT front-load this contract like I expected they would, and actually increased cap space for this year. Maybe some more moves to come?
Hope darnold shows consistent play with offensive talent. Then the dolphins let tua walk and sign free agent darnold to $30m a year
Short of cutting half their roster, Idk how they can given resign Tua at this point. Tyreek is getting cut the last year of his deal certainly at that number, but they have zero cap room this year and the next.
Miami doesn't pay Waddle any of that money until 2026, which is the last year on Hill's deal. By then, there will be 10 receivers making 30+ mil per year. People fail to realize how great the Waddle extension is for Miami, even if Hill gets extended.
@Floridaman1780_ Hill either gets extended or cut. Because his last year Is like 60 million with almost zero dead cap. And that year they are currently expected to have only 55 million in space with only 33 players on the roster.
And I don't think Tua is going to ask for 50+ mil, regardless of what his market is. I think Tua is more concerned about the long term guaranteed money because of his head. Which is why I don't think anything gets done until next offseason. It doesn't make sense for a franchise to guarantee a guy $125million plus who is one broken play away from retirement until you absolutely have to.
When was the last time a team with the top payed wr won the sb?
Wow, Vikings are crazy.
Tory Holt should be in the HOF
When Jordon Love signs his mega-deal, Packers will have a two year window to win with the young receiving corps still on rookie deals.
We should talk about these analyst and sports show hosts and pundits salaries and compare and complain about thier pay and it being too much like they do to the athletes they sure are less concerned with saving thier employers money on salary they must pay
I’ll tell you what the ripple effect will be. Vikings go 7-10. Addison doesn’t get a second contract. Coach and gm get fired after 2 more seasons
Nah, the Vikings won't have a full price QB while JJ is on this contract. The question will be what do they do after this contract.
His name is Jaylen Waddle, not Jayden.
man wish i was an nfl team owner.. insane amount of money coming in... being able to pay players recorded setting contracts year after year...while having a cap.... $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
He might need to play QB for some snaps this season for that $$$.
gg Vikings. Have fun in Cancun in January for the next 6 years
JJ might have a Barry sanders career if that qb situation isn’t what they think it’s going to be. Tanking with Darnold will get them more draft picks though
Don’t matter who throwing him the ball Jets gonna be good . Had 4 diff QBs last year and still got 1000 yards and missed 7 games
Lamb holdout is a lock simply because Jerry is not paying anybody until Dallas males the SB at least, at they won't.
You tell Lamb he isn't as good as Jefferson because he isn't. No one in their right mind takes Lamb over Jefferson. Not to mention, the vikings salary cap allowed them to do this, whereas the cowboys cap space is pitiful and they've got multiple guys they have to hand big money this year and next.
And next year he has a career ending injury, and viking fans will ask what were thinking giving him that contract.
I drafted jj first overall in fantasy last year. What a bust that was

How many playoff wins for jj,what a joke!!
I pay for winning playoff games and SuperBowls, not for regular season stats ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
Give me 2 ones and a 3,you can have lamb!!
So you admit CeeDee is worth that much, but you won't pay him? Strange.
Dallas can't pay three of their players top 3 money at each of their positions and have any semblance of a competitive team. My prediction is they re-sign Parsons and Dak and let CeeDee walk. With how many receivers have emerged outside of round 1 lately (and in round 1 for that matter), I think they hedge their bets they can get another receiver in the draft and/or free agency.
So now he doesn’t have to go all out… he got the bag and can now slack off. Most do
Why don't we see front loading on the cap to "save" money for a big spend the next year. It would be a huge advantage to have 20 million more cap than others for a year. Everyone seems to want to kick the can endlessly until they have no choice. All doing the same thing gives no advantage.
I agree with Brockman "Teams are so dumb - they do not have to pay" these overpriced contracts.
35 million a year for one WR is just nuts.
Injury in week three, trade him during the off season. The script is already set for the Vikings.
