    Just imagine if Justin Jefferson didn’t get hurt.
    It would have been 4 all-pros, 4 pro bowls, 440 catches, 6400 yards, and 37 TDs…

      Lamb isn't even 3/4 as good as Jefferson. If he makes more than Jefferson... Actually that sounds about right for the Cowboys. Not the brightest front office in the league.

    C'mon Sam - you don't usually oversimplify things. You don't know the structure of the so-called $28m apy deal, the guarantees, the affordability against the Vikes 2023 cap, the impact on the Vikes cap then compared to now. No-one expected the salary cap to hit $262m for the 2024 year. It's an intriguingly structured deal and actually has an out in 2028 which looks like it avoids all the non-guaranteed money which potentially makes it a $110m 4 year deal with a $27.5m apy.

  • @robe2504
    @robe2504 3 місяці тому

    Ignore the headlines - the actual cost of Jettas, Addison and Hockenson - last season was only $11m total - the same the Chiefs paid MVS. This season it will be $25m total, and in 2025 it will still only be $34m total - less than the headline implies it will cost for Jefferson alone.
    2026 and beyond - who knows what the cap and market will be that far in the future?

    Not sure this best for the Vikes. KC turned down Tyreek and won the SB.

      It's $8m in 2024, and $15m in 2025. KC paid Valdes-Scantling $11m last season. It's no problem at all.

      @@jaredpribyl maybe especially if a couple more big names get 35 a year plus before the season starts. think about it the highest was 30 a year for St Brown and Collins got 24 so if the top was 35 or 38 or possibly 40 his agent would have been looking to get closer to 30 a year. The longer these teams wait to sign these big time contracts the more it ends up costing them. Its not always what the player is actually worth its what the market gets set at. Lawrence is probably looking at a 50 mil a year deal soon and he is no where near worth that much money.

    • @psykim5056
      @psykim5056 3 місяці тому +19

      The question is where do you place that money? You guys put it into a D tackle. You lost a prime secondary piece and you have no franchise WRs. You can yell Super Bowl, so there is the trump card, but that’s not normal for the NFL. You guys also overpaid for a TE for what he’s done, not what he will do, and he’s aging out.
      To think this deal helps the chiefs is asinine, you don’t understand how the NFL works, and it shows.

      I mean sure they might be hampered a bit financially but if you're a team or ANY team who has a top WR like Chase or Jefferson you have to pay them. I know the Chiefs might be the outlier with not re-signing Tyreek, but that's because they still Kelce and the best QB in the league right now who can make C-tier WRs look like competent receivers.

      The Lions can start getting out of the Amon Ra deal from 2026, whereas the Vikes could get out in 2028.

      The Vikes went 13-4 in their last full season with Jettas and a healthy QB.
      Last year was disappointing but take the QB1 out of any team - Mahomes, Herbert, Allen, Goff, Burrow - and I don't think they're having a good season either.
