    This video helps me a lot, thank you Jason. I have a short on VCC main iPhone 6 at Q1403 and I know it’s not Q1403. Somewhere on the vcc main power rail and it’s a tough short like you, just can’t find it by freeze spray with Q1403 still on the board because that’s the dude get hot first. I took your advice solder vcc bat and vcc main under q1403 with freeze spray and I founded a vcc cap c1552 near backlight boost drive were shorted. Replace it, everything went well now. Can’t say thank you enough.

    This is my first comment on any of your videos.
    So first, you’re amazing.. your technical skill and knowledge, in addition to your clear verbal explanations and video capturing.. wow.. I’m very impressed.
    Takes me back to my two-way radio days.. love it!!
    Seems like in the first video I saw, you were using thermal imaging to find a short.. I guess this one was made before you had thermal imaging?

    Good job, like your videos! Why are you wasting time taking off Q1403 and making jumper, find the short and put the ic back? Take off a vcc_main cap, ->next to wifi, inject directly the voltage. Its better to replace 2 caps, than a cap and an ic...

    There is definitely something satisfying about knocking these caps off the board......

    My PSU has a maximum current of 1 ampere. Would it work for finding a short on VCC_MAIN?

    This question isn't related to this video but I have a phone with sporadic Touch. I replaced the Touch IC Meson Chip and now phone touch works a little (still erratic) but screen has grey/white bars or lines down it. Any idea what could have caused this?

    hi jason, im working on an iphone 6 atm it was water damaged around u1601 an was doing the apple logo bootloop, i found it was bad caps around the area that were bad and removed them. so the phone booted to the main screen. the next day i go and check the phone and it was dead. now theres a short to ground on pp_ldo11 which is causing the loop again. any ideas what component might be shorted its not c4002_rf as iv removed it and still short to ground. thanks

    Can i ask you why are you bumping ICs when the solder is melted? Is it important? Thanks... btw .. I like you so much man :D Im looking at every video you are uploading :)

      I do it just to be certain everything has flowed and also to break any surface/barrier that could be keeping a ball from making contact. I guess it's a security blanket :D

    Thank you

    • @ststele
      @ststele  7 років тому +1

      Hmmmm.. I really don't like using duster for freeze spray because of the bitter nasty residue it leaves behind. I think I paid $8 for this can of freeze spray. We buy it at Microcenter.
