They must have connected positive jump lead through power steering stud by mistake and that could have caused this as lot of time people don't pay attention how and where they connect those jump lead clamps. Impressive video and simple example of basic check.

You did your due diligence Luis and it made for an easy diagnose. I just wonder why a " garage " with a fancy snap-on scan tool has no knowledge of basic diagnostics. That fuse only blows after hooking up jumper cables plus to minus with the ignition off. They could have been in a lot of more trouble if the ignition would have been on. Nice video Luis. Again showing the basics of diagnostics that is so often forgotten.

I followed your advice and changed the fuse. It didn’t work took it to a friends garage and put it on the diagnostic tool. It came up with all those fault codes so I started with the cheapest option and ordered a new ABS sensor for passengers side. Got that fitted and all codes cleared thankfully it wasn’t a steering problem. Great video nevertheless thank you

Before replacing an 60 amps fuse allways check resistance of the cable if there is a short to ground else there is a big risk.

Last week i had a Cadillac from a garage having imobiliser problems (my work is everything what has to do with immobiliser and ESL ).
The battery of the car was replaced and before it runs without a problem.
I asked the garage what they did, and they had scan the car on DTC's and found the immobiliser DTC.
They delivered the car and a few hours later i start working on it.
First thing i do is turning on the ignition and look at any immobiliser light or screen message.
There was a screen message key not recognised.
I check if the transponder from the key is readable, it was. Then i checked the reading coil on the ignition switch, that will activate when you turn on the ignition. and it didn't.
Next thing was looking at fuses and found a faulty fuse.
15 minutes of work... I realy don't understand that mechanics don't go deeper or get educated into diagnostics and fault finding.. Some of them lvining in the stoneage i guess..
on the other side, i earn money on those guys 😛
I printed a complete diagnostic scan report and the find&repair report and brought them the car. After reading the report, he just said "Ok. thanks and till next time, your doing good jobs for us"
i was a little bit stunned..

Hi Luis, please let me know how to contact you or get a car booked in. Really struggling and think only you will be able to find the fault. It’s a Toyota IQ 2009… car starts and runs, however dashboard is like a Christmas tree and no communication to any module expect the airbag. Very odd as like I stated before 4 places could not fix it. Please let me know if you can help.

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs  2 роки тому

I do this as a part time, as a hobby if you like...
If the car starts, that means there is internal communications between modules, otherwise, the immo would not allow the car to start...
Start with the basics, power and grounds to the modules, then communication lines...
      👍👍👍
