I love this, your tutorials are so easy to follow too. Even though you use US terms I just convert it in my head now I've come a long way from learning from you granny square tutorial and I'm currently making this blanket for my friends first grandchild but I'm using emu classic lemonade (lemon) & white and the stitch pattern doesn't seem to show as well as yours, do I need to change my white to a cream or something or do I need a bit of a darker lemon even though I love the colour I'm using? Any advice please robin?
Thank You so much for this tutorial-❤ I am totally obsessed with it, I have made a beautiful baby blanket with baby sport yarn 🧶 worked up so drapey and soft. I have also used a worsted weight scarf in this stitch and it is very pretty too! I think 🤔 that it would look great with any type of yarn that one can choose! The timing really is fantastic, isn't it?! I was just searching for a project for a mini skein set of fingering-weight yarn that I have; this stitch will make a fantastic wrap!
I'm curious about the elongated strand. Would babies' fingers catch in those? We're frequently cautioned to avoid patterns with holes for fear of those tiny little fingers. What's your thought about those double crochet stitches in the row below?
Love your tutorials but u dont say crochet hook size on any of them is it a 5 mm or 5.50 or 6mm or 6.5 i cant start till i know or is it use your own judgment if so what do other people use thats watching it.

Hi Marilyn, This is a very tricky question to answer as there are so many variables! How much yarn you need will depend on which yarn you choose, the thickness of that yarn, your tension and how large you want your finished project to be. It took me a couple of tries, but now this pattern feels so fun and easy to do. It’s mindless enough that you can do something else while you work, and has enough variation so it remains entertaining to make! I’ve tried a multicoloured version and it looks very beautiful. Love that its reversible. Thank you!
I just watched your video on continuous connect granny squares... I want to make my granddaughter a GS afghan but turn the squares to make diamond shapes... will continuous connect granny squares work for it, too?
I always love a stitch pattern that beautiful and easy to do. Wat do you call this new stitch? Looks like some kind of 1 2 3 (single, half double, double) spike stitch. Thanks for sharing.

Hi just want to say after coming across your reels on Facebook you've inspired me to learn how to crochet!! Fingers crossed I can do this lol. I will off course pop on and let you know how it's going! ❤x

Hi Joyce, I haven't made a scarf out of it yet so can't advise I am afraid but definitely give it a go. It would depend on the yarn you are using too.😀
I was so pleased when I saw that you are in the UK, and heard your accent. Unfortunately you use US terms 😢 there are so many American videos, it's a pity you didn't use UK terms.
@@HookedbyRobin here is my progress on this blanket, I am using some Caron Cinnamon Swirl Cakes yarn that I got on clearance, maybe not as good as alternating colors, but I still am liking it…and yes, that is your peephole chevron throw in the background 😂, I am such a fan of your videos! 😊 ua-cam.com/users/shorts-b5pZNN0qLE?si=aVKS3gXHsblJ_GHI

If I don’t text before Christmas have a blessed holiday and thank you for providing me with beautiful blankets. Blessings, Cathy
I don't sleep Cathy or eat! I am joking.😂 I definitely do or I wouldn't be able to crochet at all. Good luck with your blankets, I am sure they will be treasured presents.😀 Have a wonderful Christmas.🎄x
Ok that was a rollercoaster ride for me 😂. I was ecstatic for a reversible stitch. Then I was like omg I hate weaving in ends. Then I was 🎉because you showed how to carry! Then I was thinking no way is this going to be straight and 💥 you made me happy again. Yeah I have PTSD and really bad anxiety 😅. Excellent video, putting this on my next blanket project! Thank you for being so amazing ❤
now this is so much better than its sister/cousin? the sedge stitch . just as squishy but replaces that unsightly gap from the dc-I am sooo tempted to frog the pocket shawl I'm working on in sedge stitch but already 4 skeins down. maybe I'll go half& half because you just make everything so easy and fun to try. this one's no exception and just in time for holiday gifts.
cheat my way and turn this into a pocket shawl, with pockets a la Robin:)) added bonus the pockets will be sturdier and still match the main body. your tutorials just are impossible to resist!!

How much yarn you need will depend on which yarn you choose, the thickness of that yarn, your tension and how large you want your finished project to be. I suggest making a small sample first so you can gauge how much yarn you'll need. If making a crochet square, you can weigh your finished square to work out how much yarn it used!😀
Beautiful stitch!! 🤩 it’s fairly simple, just a matter of getting used to do the spike dc. Thank you so much for bringing another wonderful stitch to all of your followers 😍 let’s practice 😊
Absolutely! Practice always pays off.😃
Oh my such a beautiful pattern. Thanks for sharing Robin 👍🏼
You're so welcome Dianna!😀
I love it, I love it, I love it. You have outdone yourself. I'll use this stitch to make a Christmas blanket. ❤❤❤❤❤.
Thank you so much, great idea!😃🎄
Hi I’m new to your channel . It’s a very nice stitches first time I see this kind of stitch also you speak nice and clear and we see your work clear and close . Thanks for sharing ❤
You’re very welcome Barbara!😃🧶
Love this blanket, I have just started a baby blanket. When I finish, what would you suggest for the border on this one please?
Here are the borders you could use 😀: ua-cam.com/play/PLP0pPGx0kI89mFLK-9nH2qaEvzMJP0rD6.html&si=xQLlPXL6WTYHjYFj
Beautiful stitch ❤, I want to.make a baby blanket. How many stitches or chains I need ? Can you help me ?
Anyone ?
There is no set amount, as everyone likes different sizes even for baby blankets. I tend to eye ball it, chain as wide as I fancy then go from there.😃🧶
I want to learn to crochet at age 67. No time like the present! Is there a simple stitch and project you can direct me to? Thanks in advance! 🙏🏻🥰
You absolutely can!😀 This playlist will help: ua-cam.com/play/PLP0pPGx0kI8-ryt9f_jazZC5oyRd5eIqI.html&si=Ms8v-YiS9ukMLgWN
Hi just want to say after coming across your reels on Facebook you've inspired me to learn how to crochet!! Fingers crossed I can do this lol. I will off course pop on and let you know how it's going! ❤x
You absolutely can and lovely to have you here!😃🧶
🎉🎉YAY!!! Finally got my own wee crochet kit for Xmas from my grandchildren, followed your Granny square tutorial and it's not perfect but I done it, so chuffed with myself😂. It can only get better, this Grannysquare will cover the 3grandkids by the time I'm done😂. Thank you so much your videos are fantastic! Happy New Year 😊 x
That is amazing and remember there is no such thing as perfect when it comes to handmade!😀 Also you should have seen some of my first crochet.😅 It just practice and time, you will 100% get there.
Thank you so much, Happy New Year to you too!x
Hi Robin. This looks great! I can’t wait to try it. I just wondered, does this stitch have a name?
Hello Suzanne, it doesn't have an official name as such. It's essentially a modified version of the Sedge Stitch.😀
The irony that you post this video... I recently finished an afghan made with this stitch maybe 3 weeks ago.
I bet it looked lovely?😃😍
Hello Robin trust you keeping well thanks beautiful pattern tc God bless 🙏❤🙌
Hi Sandy, I am thank you. I hope you are too.🥰x
Love this pattern! Do you have any videos on how to add a border? That’s the part I always struggle with.
Thank you Zoe! This will help 😀: ua-cam.com/play/PLP0pPGx0kI89mFLK-9nH2qaEvzMJP0rD6.html&si=i_Wrx8ki4n28eTjA
Very nice stitch. Looks like fun.
It is Carol, absolutely give it a go!😀
@@HookedbyRobin I have the yarn. New baby expected.
How wonderful!🥰
Made this pattern and it turned out so beautiful! Absolutlely love it. Thank You
You’re welcome Debbie!😃
Also, would this stitch have enough drape for a scarf worked width-wise?
Hi Joyce, I haven't made a scarf out of it yet so can't advise I am afraid but definitely give it a go. It would depend on the yarn you are using too.😀
Thanks for sharing 🤗
Happy New Year🎊🎉🎊🎉🎆
Thank you and you too!😃🥳
very pretty stich but even more than that you have excellent instructions, thank you
You’re so welcome Paulette!🧶😃
I like this stitch very nice and easy thank you Robin for sharing
You're so welcome Maria, it is a beautiful stitch!🥰
Very nice! Thank you Robin. Does this stitch have a name?
You're welcome Nancy! It doesn't have an official name as such. It's essentially a modified version of the Sedge Stitch.😀
I was so pleased when I saw that you are in the UK, and heard your accent. Unfortunately you use US terms 😢 there are so many American videos, it's a pity you didn't use UK terms.
Hi Tracey, I am in the UK but I learnt in US terms.x
I think a lot of us use US terms. They make more sense 😂
you go to fast for something that is supposed to be for beginners
You can slow it down!😃 See how to here: ua-cam.com/video/LIRYwkkI_4Y/v-deo.htmlsi=FPtm9Fusg1xrRLjE
I love your videos, you make it so clear and your lovely accent and voice make me feel like all is well. Wondering what brand hooks you use?
Thank you so much Pam!🥰I use these: amzn.eu/d/087vjRBK
@@HookedbyRobin here is my progress on this blanket, I am using some Caron Cinnamon Swirl Cakes yarn that I got on clearance, maybe not as good as alternating colors, but I still am liking it…and yes, that is your peephole chevron throw in the background 😂, I am such a fan of your videos! 😊

Your video going to fast can't see your hooking 😅 .
Hi Lory, If the video speed is too fast, you can slow it down! 😀 See this video on exactly how: ua-cam.com/video/LIRYwkkI_4Y/v-deo.html
Your work is beautiful! I'm brand new to crochet and I'm finding your videos quite easy to understand. Thank You! I'm wondering...have you got any How-To videos for making baskets? Specifically, sturdy cotton Banneton baskets for proofing sourdough?
Thank you so much Johanna and I’m afraid I don’t.🤗🧶
@@HookedbyRobin thanks for your quick reply, much appreciated. :)
🥰
I love this stitch and would like to try making a shawl with it. If I carry the yarn up the side, don't I need some kind of a border to hide that?
You do yes 🙂
@@HookedbyRobin any suggestions?
Love this stitch, but can you recommend a border for the finished blanket ❤ ❤
Hi Helen, ua-cam.com/play/PLP0pPGx0kI89mFLK-9nH2qaEvzMJP0rD6.html&si=jnJoEtoc9HR8iaQQ 😃
@@HookedbyRobin thankyou for your reply. I shall look through the list and select one
I love this stitch I will try it on my next project
🥰🧶
In a little over 4 weeks I’m on my 3rd last minute requests for blankets from grandchildren. Yep, I’m working in my sleep. I thought I knew what stitch I was going to do for the last one but have decided on this one..
Speaking of sleep when do you catch your winks? If I don’t text before Christmas have a blessed holiday and thank you for providing me with beautiful blankets. Blessings, Cathy
I don't sleep Cathy or eat! I am joking.😂 I definitely do or I wouldn't be able to crochet at all. Good luck with your blankets, I am sure they will be treasured presents.😀 Have a wonderful Christmas.🎄x
What border would you recommend?
Hi Dianna, here you go 😀: ua-cam.com/play/PLP0pPGx0kI89mFLK-9nH2qaEvzMJP0rD6.html&si=fgTxf6ozIMqjLkrF
That is a rollercoaster of emotions there Kaya, I am sorry.😅 It works so well for a blanket!x
now this is so much better than its sister/cousin? the sedge stitch . just as squishy but replaces that unsightly gap from the dc-I am sooo tempted to frog the pocket shawl I'm working on in sedge stitch but already 4 skeins down. maybe I'll go half& half because you just make everything so easy and fun to try. this one's no exception and just in time for holiday gifts.
Ah tricky choice! What did you decide to do? You could always make another shawl too.😀
cheat my way and turn this into a pocket shawl, with pockets a la Robin:)) added bonus the pockets will be sturdier and still match the main body. your tutorials just are impossible to resist!!
That sounds fantastic!
Hi Robin 👋👋😊
Hi!! 🖐😀
Love this stitch & I am so glad I found your channel. You show clearly how to approach crocheting & explain very well indeed. I've crocheted for many years but love to learn new stitches or new ways to tackle things. Many thanks x
