But after many attempts, aborting genocide at the very last enemy and killing mettaton Neo, I came to the conclusion that it’s legitimately impossible to reach LV 18. Which means it’s totally possible to reach LV 17 after killing mettaton neo early lmao Good shit nonetheless though!

Loox can be picked on infinite times to receive any amount of XP you desire. I found this out on the Mac release but it’s certainly possible on the Windows release from what people told me

I have tested these and actually completed this run, so here's what you missed: -The first (scripted) Froggit encounter doesn't actually count towards the Ruins kill quota, although it does add +1 to the actual kill counter in the Stats menu (it doesn't remove a kill from the Ruins and still allows you to kill the same amount of Looxs). -Instead of killing a single Knight Knight as the final kill of CORE, get into a triple encounter with Final Froggit, Whimsalot, and Astigmatism when there's one kill left, as it's the encounter variant that gives the most EXP by the end of the battle (360 EXP) -After you've finished grinding in the CORE, you can still use the Warrior's Path for those 3 scripted encounters even after the "but nobody came" text appears (920 EXP) After adding in these improvements, the total calculations (Pre Mettaton) should look like this: First Froggit (10 EXP) + 21 fully picked on Looxs (462 EXP) + Toriel (150 EXP) + Snowdrake (22 EXP) + 15 Glydes (1500 EXP) + Doggo (30 EXP) + Dogamy and Dogaressa (60 EXP) + Greater Dog (80 EXP) + Papyrus (200 EXP) + 19 Aaron/Woshuas (988 EXP) + Shyren (52 EXP) + Glad Dummy (0 EXP lol) + Undyne the Undying (1500 EXP) + Royal Guards (220 EXP) + Muffet (300 EXP) + 36 Knight Knights (6480 EXP) + Triple Froggit, Whimsalot, and Astigmatism encounter (360 EXP) + Warrior's Path (920 EXP) should all equal to 13334 EXP total. The total that you managed to accumulate (by taking the true total and adding the deductions) (Pre Mettaton) was only 12224 EXP (1110 EXP less than the true Genocide total). Other than my long spiel, great TAS! Just needs a little bit of re-routing and it should be good as perfect!
@@houdemon Snowdrake is killed because you’re required to in order to not abort the Genocide Route. Killing a triple would result in adding 3 to the kill count instead of 1, making you able to kill two less Glydes than usual, granting less EXP. I’ve actually been thinking of skipping the Snowdrake encounter until the last kill of Snowdin, that way you can make that a triple with Ice Cap (after stealing the hat, +25 EXP) and Jerry (+1 EXP)

CORE - LV 16 (KnightKnights) The absolute MAXIMUM XP thats not a genocide route, (since it sets your lv) is 17. 1.4k from 18. The reason he didnt achive LV 17 here is because he did not do the Warriors path in the CORE. Edit:With glitches, it is possible to reach higher LV. But im not taking that into consideration since glitches are not intended. (Except a few which became features, gotta love Toby)
That's not maximum exp, after all kills on 2nd floor core, you can go to 1st floor core. Here are still +7 monsters(after but nobody came!) But after killing mettaton neo(with 1 left and tl) they disappear(bad English)
There’s also the seven static CORE encounters in the one room with the button that stay there after exhausting the kill counter (+ I saw you showing LV17 NEO in one of your old TASes)

Little correction after 4 months: for some Strange reason, It's ok to flee from lesser dog at the last cutscene before papyrus Encounter, but only ones. When You do it twice, run's aborted. So in other words: don't meet lesser dog before glyde for extra exp. Except ones and also Encountering him after the Last "Puzzle" (i think the wordsearch?) Is ok. Just remember: dont Encounter him twice

It's possible to reach LV 8 Almost 9 in the ruins. Just encounter only loox, pick on 3 times, the kill. Once you have one left, encounter a double loox and do the thing again.
considering encounter manip, you probably just grind 19 Whimsuns (accounting for scripted Froggit), 14 (painstaking) single Jerrys (which you can only grind for in like one or two rooms, also accounting for scripted Snowdrake and Lesser Dog) and all Dogs, 17 Moldsmals (accounting for scripted Aaron), and then 39 Vulkins (accounting for scripted Plane). I don’t really feel like doing the math, but that’s at least my logical way of doing minimum EXP.

You don't have to optymise for EXP at all and still get the Max Possible EXP since Sans doesn't have a set EXP earn insted he is hard coded to land you on LV20 so any geno run gets Max Possible EXP.
@@ShiroParadox99 Still you don't have to kill only Knight Knights at the end as killing Mettaton NEO gets you to LV19 regardless of how much EXP you got so unless you consider the section to be ending just before Mettaton which you clearly don't considering how you used the yootube's chapters feacher.
not possible, LV isn't what decides geno route or not, the game has flags and the kill counter, so even if you reach LV 19 before sans and spare papyrus, you wont be on geno route

The thing about doing this, you have to get lucky when it comes to finding loox. And it takes a while to grind Glydes
Considering how the Glyde grind took the TAS from 24:00 to 2:10:50, yeah, I'd say it takes a while.
