Thanks, Dusty! I'm surprised at how much I like the Topeak bags - they've been great at hauling. My only trouble has been on the trunkbag - it's recently begun to have the zipper pulls break. The Tourguide is perfect for carrying everything from a paperback book to a camera to the spare parts I might need on the ride.
nice little video, very good presentation skill. If you need more upright position on the bike, I think just put a riser bar or a riser stem on it. You also may need wider tires for that kind of terrain too.
Thanks, Teru! I did try using a riser bar, but it didn't work the way I'd expected. However, adding butterfly bars worked a treat! I'm thinking the next upgrade will need to be the tires - the small block eights do ok on hardpack dirt, but the chunky rocks are much tougher.
I'm considering the Giant Roam 4 and the Poseidon X. I'm also planning to ride the full length of the Katy Trail in the next 2 years. In your opinion which bike is best suited for the Katy?
Hi, Chris! What a great (and specific) question! I rode the Katy using the Roam 4, but the front suspension was definitely overkill for that usage. I'd say the Poseidon X would be better suited, since it's a bit lighter and has about the same carrying capacity - just be careful not to overload the front fork braze-ons (it can handle about 3 pounds per side - great for bulky lightweight items) I'll give you one caveat about the Katy, though - the surface is limestone, which is great when dry, but incredibly difficult to pedal through when there's more than 12 hours of rain. If you take the Katy, I'd recommend changing your tires for something wider (or at least with greater traction) than either the Roam or the X have stock.
This is size L, actually - it's just right for me, any larger frame, and the seat would be slammed. I'd recommend looking a size down from what you would get in another frame.
A very nice Bike. I would buy the giant roam, but in germany it comes not with the same parts like in the us. Because this i bouhgt a ghost bike . It isnt easy to find an nice hybrid bike in germany.....
Danke sehr, für das komment! I'm sorry hybrids are harder to come by in Deutschland - though you can find touring bikes more easily than we can. Hopefully, the bike manufacturers will start selling more equally one day!
It is! The Advent X cassette has a great set of gears, and its lowest makes it easy to climb even steep hills, even for my 6'1" and 220 lbs (1.8m/100kg). It's a stable frame design, too, so coming downhill feels safe even at speed.
@@omegalamda3145 It's the Large size. And, I was surprised that the large was almost too big for me. I have very little bit of the seat post sticking up - to where it only barely fits in the bike stand when clamped to the seatpost.
Nice job! Have fun
Thanks kindly!
Nice video. I was looking at these bikes. Decided on another. I use the same trunk bag. The tourguide looks pretty good.

@@Raveler1 I haven’t used the panniers yet.

Great bike by the way with great upgrades possibilities, enjoy
I agree completely! It's been fun so far. :-)

@@Raveler1 I was also considering the Giant Cypress 3 which has larger tires so maybe that's the right choice. Thanks for your response!
Very informative video thanks. I plan on getting this bike as well. What size is the bike? It looks like an XL

I’m a big and tall person. Is it easy riding on not so steep hills?

Is that the med or large sized?

It came in a TV box? wth...
Right? As best I can tell, it's a weird thing that Poseidon does to try to get shipping companies to treat the box with care.
Genius. Otherwise they'd just throw it around. They may anyway, but hopefully not.
