Great video, well done. If you like your mechanical brakes you will absolutely love them if you swap out the standard cable housing to compressionless housing. The improvement in stopping power and braking responsiveness is absolutely amazing. I use TRP spyke dual piston calipers with compressionless housing and they perform every bit as good as hydraulic brakes for much less fuss and maintenance.
@@chickensendies Definitely. Mine were fine too but you really can tell a huge difference with compressionless housing. Cost to performance gain makes it a no brainer upgrade.
Great presentation, concise and clear. And thanks for expanding on your opinions of the different aspects - it really helps when videos explain the "why's". Question on the bottom bracket - would you please specify which type/brand, spacers used, and the specs of the crankarms? Thanks and please keep putting out content like this.
I really appreciate your kind words! I will have to double check on what I did exactly on the cranks but I am pretty sure 1 on non drive and 2 on drive side.
Protip: If you choose to upgrade something like the cranks and bottom bracket, explain why you think it's better. It often confuses the viewers on the upgrade when it sounds like it was completely unnecessary.
4:05 Explains why I did it 😁 Weight savings and personal preference. (I do not care for square tapered cranksets) It is by no means a necessary upgrade. Square tapered bb's work fine and this upgrade is not needed at all. That is why I was not selling it as a must chenge/upgrade right away. Appreciate the input MrSatchelpack 😊
Contact points are the most important bits. Took me ages to find a saddle I like. Now use Charge Spoon saddles, not overly expensive but so comfortable.
@@chickensendies thank you I’m 5”10 with a inseam of 33 inch. I’m looking at the drop bar x ambition. You think the large would be good. I know everyone is different. Thanks for the info
@markpotter3076 Large and you should be good. Might have to change the stem like I did, but that is an easy one! Here is a link for the jg bike crankset.
Imo yes it sure is! If you are gonna ride more gravel than paved I'd tell you to look at the 650b sized tires to help. But if you will do more paved 700c will be great 😁
I’m stopping watching this video at changing out the bottom bracket because it no longer is about the bike but more of how to upgrade,I’d rather a video of the bike being rode like it is once it is adjusted
You hit on the "bike" thingy that nobody really understands. The geometry means next to NOTHING with how comfortable a bike is. The seat is the only thing that really counts, the seat tube angle plays some part in the fit, but not as much as people want you to believe. The pedals are more about size than anything. The grips? The handlebars and stem means more than anything, if the stem is too long and you feel stretched out and the same with it being too short and you feel cramped. People want you to think the bike manufacturers should have options up the ying-yang, but that is not possible or practical. Just change that crap to crap you like, done, over with, gone. Think of all the different sized people in the world, just by MMs and just how are they supposed to do it? Getting a bike ready for shipment would be a nightmare. If you want a bike built for you, get ready to fork over $5,000+ just for the frame, all the stuff to make it a bike will cost you lots of extra $$$.
I am such a big believer in getting the contact points you want and dialed in!!! Really appreciate your comment and glad you get where I am coming from. Make it "your" bike! Thanks, David for the comment!

4:23 you are correct, same square tapered cranckset on Redwood. In the list for upgrade
Appreciate the confirmation 😁

Totally agree, I also have DMR pedals on my bikes. Great for the price.
@@husky0877 LOVE DMR pedals! I have 2 sets of DMR vaults and they are amazing!
For £15 you cannot beat the V6s.
13:36, hey, thanks for the mention
Of course man!!!
Those Poseidons are a pretty good value. Pretty light weight too.
I totally agree!!!! Very sharp for the price 😁
8:55, yeah, I agree on the saddle
It just is bleh 😅😅😅
Im with you with the dislike of square taper. Never seen a difference when trying oval, but whatever works for you! Magic marker that scratch!
I actually used a marker after I got the footage of it 🤣🤣🤣 Great minds! 😁
I'm changing out saddle as we speak lol. I went w the red limited color. She's a beauty
Very nice! I was pretty bummed I missed the limited colors barely 😅😅😅
The black is SWEET though. I almost went w that
@@mandomaldonado4498 I definitely love the murdered out look 😁
Had same issue with stamp 1 in my Stoic. Felt like my shoes are floating on the pedal...so switch back to Chester... can't go wrong with them.
It is a very strange feeling..... I feel the pins but do not lock in like I feel like I should 😅😅😅 Chesters are hard to beat!
Daddy daughter bike dayyy 🥳🥳
The best bike 🥰🥰🥰
Can you tell me which crank and bottom bracket you switched to.
Jg bike crankset 😃

Does the redwood have a beefier front fork?
I just order a Poseidon x flat bar for commuting waiting for it to arrive went with the flat bar because I am use to them and I carry a backpack
I'm sure you'll love it! Still riding and enjoying mine! 😁😁😁
Can you put a Dropper Post on it??????
I’m kinda wanting one of these brochacho
I think they are very nice for the price vs what you get.
I was wondering what rise did you go with on the handlebars? 25?
Hey, Mike! Yep, 25mm is what I ended up doing.
Thanks for the vid. It was the reason why I just purchased one
@Mike Cloutier Glad it helped! Still using it and was gonna do a "actual" review here soon 😁
"I'm not fast, i only average 15mph" sir, i average 7.5 mph
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Well..... Ok..... That is my bad lol
how does this bike do on dirt trails?
It really does well! I was concerned since it is 700c but the tires are surprisingly very nice on flowy dirt trails 😁
Would you say this bike is almost the same as Poseidon Flatbar X-Ambition
From what I can tell they seem to be very close in comparison for sure!
Gears are good 👍
Especially with a small child 🤣🤣🤣
So do you think the bike is ok ? I’m new on this gravel bike thing. I’m a mtb rider but sometimes I ride cement and mix trails!

Sidenote - the stock stem made this almost unrideable for me as it was just wayyyy too long and needed changed for me to be able to ride comfortably 😁
