I found the Tecton-X 2 on massive discount (well under the Speedgoat 6 RRP) and so I picked up another pair. I think the subtlety of Tecton-X & X2 was a good thing and made for a comfortable but nippy shoe to be in all day.
I’m slightly cautious around the X3 because it’s livelier -would love to try it though!

I have the Tecton x 3. It's in a totally different league to the speed goat, which is still a good shoe. I don't think anything is level with the Tecton x 3 right now, it's that good. Also the X3 isn't narrow. It's on par with my Hoka Mach 6 in the wide fit option. So plenty of room for long days on the trails

The front of it tappers in against the big toe area which is really irritating

I did the Heidelberg mountain marathon in the tecton x 3 and they were absolutely so comfortable. No problems with rubbing or hot spots. Would highly recommend. I would use asics trabuco for a more sturdy fit or the hoka mafate for thicker lugs.

Trubuco is great, but that high stack is tricky, had a few rolls in them but still a great shoe, Covered Julian Alps 80k in them.

Wow !! I bet that was an awsome experience. I just love the adventure in trail runs. I've got a really bad ankle so go slow and steady 😂

the only issue I have with my tecton x 3 is the lockdown is not great vs my tecton x2 esp for running down steep downhills, the stability and foam on the x 3 really make this shoe though

I agree that the bounce is a bit too agressive downhill .. I mean it's fine for more runnable trails but I had to slow down today because it felt too risky to run that fast downhill. I mean it's harder to predict where you are going to land when you bounce that much lol. I have a 12km race (650m elevation) this weekend and I'm going to use the Pulsar SG instead. I really like the tecton x3 for training, really comfortable but I feel faster and more confident in the Pulsar SG and it's lighter.

If they can figure out a way to keep a traditional heel cup structure while also incorporating a light built in gaiter over that... that'd be cool. However, I think they're going the wrong way with such a light and unstructured heel/gaiter combo, at least in a shoe with this midsole design and the powerful mechanics related to that. I've worn and still wear multiple light Salomon s/lab models with similarly unstructured heel designs, and after years of trying to like it, more often than not that area always feels a bit compromised, especially in longer runs when tired. I had these X3s in hand a few days ago and could immediately sense the shortcomings of this upper, specifically in the heel. They don't need a rock hard, extra thick heel cup... it just needs to be structured in a meaningful way, and the gaiter needs to be significantly lighter and less structured. As it is, and is common with the s/lab models I own, it all feels like one big sock, hard to tell where the heel cup ends and the gaiter begins. To those that don't fully trust these shoes downhill, well, insecurity in the upper will certainly do that to ya!!

My Tecton X3 are collapsed after 200km, the foam has not come back to life. And that wing on the carbon plate digs in to your arch after the foam warms up around the 30km mark into an ultra.. quite irritating.

Is it really possible to compare these? Seems like two completely different shoes.

Hello Hello! Endorphin Edge is now on sale. Around $80. powerun pb and plate. Is it far better or worst from the new Tecton x?

It's less versatile. Good speed but unstable, you need a particular kind of trail (they're very good on former railway lines)

Don't expect the rubber compound in the edge to stick very well or last very long. Manageable until they have 50km on them, then they start sliding around. Great pop from the foam even once the lugs have worn away at 300km.

I own both. Tecton X3 is more comfortable, especially for walking. I own about 20 trail running shoes and my 3 favorite trail running shoes are the Tecton X3, the SLab Pulsar and the Endorphin Edge. I use the tecton x3 for training and longer races (above 12km), the Pulsar for shorter races (below 12km) and the Endorphin Edge for more runnable races with less elevation. I have pretty much all most popular/premium models (including Ultrafly and Terrex Speed Ultra) except SLab Genesis and SLab Ultra because they rarely/never go on sale here. The tecton x3 also felt great on road sections and the upper feels better than most. On the downside, the lockdown is not as great as in something like the Slab pulsar so it does not feel as agile but still great.

Speedgoat 6 is a TURD. Speedgoat 5 is a turd. Pretty much all HOKA's are.
Tecton x3 is amazing, got 200k into them at super speeds. The toebox is just 2mm too narrow.
Cielo X 1 is superb as well.
they must be having split teams in development-
