Greetings Solstice I trust you are all hale and hearty. I cannot begin to articulate nor express my gratitude sufficiently as I do not possess the intellectual capacity, alas! I state merely that the ethereal and otherworldly compositions of Solstice have sustained myself during arduous and pernicious times. I’m 37 years of age and a wee bit of a curmudgeon and yet absorbing daily the Majesty of Solstice I convince myself that it’s still 1998 when I was privileged and blessed to discover “true beauty” in the Universe of Solstice and not the hideous racket one hears spewing forth from the radio in 2023. May your God go with you all.
WOW. What a fantastic gig. Camel meets Caravan meets Floyd. Jess and all the girls are fantastic. You have made an old git very happy. Keep up the fantastic music and thank you.
@@solsticeuk What is great too is the quality of the performance, the sound and the video. The band is going to new heights! I'm trying to work out a way of getting to Cropredy with Melissa - we are all planning to be at folk camp on Week 1 and Week 3 ... Logistics are a little complex though!
@@jeffjsmith hey thanks Jeff!! We’re trying to make UA-cam Partner status right now which involves getting our ‘watch hours’ up a bit so eg running our live playlist in the background would really help. Ah, hope you can guys can swing the logistics for week1 🤞X
Should have in bed long ago, but I can't turn this off! It is a brilliant live performance of beautiful music with a band with wonderful energy that enjoy themselves on stage. It's contagious even just watching on a screen. I know the focus is on the girls and Andy and well deserved, but I just love the guys at the bottom end! What a foundation to build your musical castle on!
I commented on this video once before but I have to say I just continue to love your live performances. The joy in what you're doing comes shining through. Many in America aren't feeling a lot of joy right now and this music is much appreciated. That last song you played and the message that it's time of heal ... oh yeah, sign me up for that.
Yeah, it's great isn't it? I love the way you use the singers these days. PS: I was only 16 at the Reading Fest. The music and the chaotic nature of the Festival blew mind that weekend. Then in 85, coincidentally, I moved into halls of residence in Southampton and along the corridor there was a student wearing a Solstice tshirt- it turned out to be Gordon. Small world or serendipity!
I presume you know Gerry Ewing as well? I used to work with him in an office back in the 80s plus he went to my school. He's was such a laugh. Anyway, say hello to Gordon and Gerry for me.
Ah fabulous, thank you David! Forthcoming gigs on our website www.solsticeprog.uk/gigs/upcoming-gigs or BandsInTown www.solsticeprog.uk/gigs/upcoming-gigs
I've only just discovered you via a recommendation. The whole performance is so ""up", so much energy and posititvity!.Really liking the different shades from prog to jazz to dance and Jess and the girls sound amazing. That's not to take away from Andy masterful guitar playing and the rest of the band, who are integral to the sound..Overall this works on lots of levels. Amazing!
I attended like each year the 3 days of the festival and it was REALLY one of the BEST live of this 2022 edition. Can't wait to discover your new album after brillant SIA and LIGHT UP... Ps: Jess is an awesome singer/dancer and I loved the 2 choirgirls too 🥰
Thank you and, you’re right, it came at the end of a run a great gigs that filled us with energy and enthusiasm. Can’t wait to get back on the road in March!
Thanks so much Lee! We were fortunate to get the desk multitrack so I could do a bit of a mix. The footage is as it was sent live to the screens so a bit odd in places but it captures the vibe 😆

@@richardmoloney689 so part one is in 6/4, part 2 is 7/8 and part 3 is 7/4 with various odd bars like 10/4 Actually odd bars elsewhere too. Hope this makes sense.
This band formed in 1980 gigging extensively and playing sessions on national radio in the early part of that decade, releasing first album in 1984, so this is the original and genuine Solstice :)
The new songs from LIGHT UP and SIA have so much soul across their unique stunning undefinable genre categorization.
Thanks man! They mark a new and inspired era for the band thanks in large part to getting Jess onboard. She’s something else 🥰
