Jousters are the rich dudes. They can afford a full set of armor for the lists as well as maintenance of at least one horse. In a way, nothing has changed since the middle ages 😅

@@azura6804 not to sound cruel, but there are so many horses rn that most are being sold to slaughter because people are losing their houses/land, and or means of keeping said horse's. Many in California are having to get rid of theirs because of the fires.
@@eaar i was looking at hand made armor sets and they were surprisingly cheaper than i would have thought. Not sure if they are up to snuff with these kind of sets but still looked cool and fully functional apparently. I only do horses though, been training them for most of my life, guess thats why i see the maintenance on a horse more as an investment not a cost.

I think that the reason why it hasn't picked up yet is that the revival is relatively new, it has a higher barrier of entry compared to other sports, & unlike MMA, doesn't have an already popular similar sport (Boxing) that it could attract an already established audience for. This sport does have potential to grow though.
I would go this country and watch for all of the events and buy souvenirs

It's a work. The Ohio renisannse festival they really joust. Everyone was wearing a costume, I'm going in character next year. Except I was ready to take mine to wrestling school, dungeons and dragons people, mine is just me turned up to 11, and a bit scary looking.
Why this isn´t an Olympic sport? Why we are not funding this?

For jousting front side armour and padding should be made even stronger than normal to absorb the damage!

Make those amours from modern steel or ceramics or both, replace the wood with carbon fiber and the horses with motorcycles.
Now that! That will be entertaining.
Imagine the crowds in a stadium as one of these modern gladiators asks them "are you not entertained!".
I would agree with modernizing the armor or lances but replacing the horses with gas guzzling motorcycles? It takes away a huge part of jousting, riding a horse while landing a lance on your opponent's head or shoulders is very difficult.
Using a motorcycle seems silly and inappropriate, it would be out of place in my opinion.
There's something about watching knights in shining armor joust today like they did thousands of years ago with the same aesthetic.
