I've recently stumbled upon this channel, watched a lot of vids, and have become absolutely fascinated by lockpicking. I feel a bit like Alice looking down the proverbial rabbit hole. if I jump, it's a loooong way down, and I'll never get out; will I?
No you won't.
Now jump, and don't land on any bunnies.
Jump my friend. There's a nice pool at the bottom and the water is lovely. Seriously it's not a big investment to start and it's the best puzzle game known to mankind. Once you get a lock open you shall know. Cheers :)
I got that exact set last week. I'm only a novice, but boy are those picks effective (I'm currently calling the city rake in this kit a 'lock killer' as it's THAT GOOD with a lot of my basic locks). I see it as a great starter set to base things on, as it's far superior in materials and workmanship than any of the cheap chinese kits. I'm adding bits to mine from time to time, like some warded lock bypass tools, combs and Z-bars. I think I'm going to add some Petersen picks to this, like a DeForest diamond, half diamond and Gem in 18 thou, and a small set of the Top of keyway tensioners with the teeth. All of that will fit in the same case as it's got plenty of room.

in only 12 years old and you have taught me so much I'm picking locks every where using paperclips you are so helpful and inspireing

That is one sweet kit they have brought out there,plus we have just see you put one of them bypass picks to the test,to which it worked a treat,though i think you also had a lot to do with it. ;-)

The bi-pass tools make this a hard deal to pass up. I like it.

Pretty cool Bill. Love the idea of the case that stands up, very handy indeed.
You can make DIY lockpicks and tension tools from flat metal BBQ skewers as well as car wiper blade metal.
You might need some warding files as well.

Why don't any of the kits come with both top and bottom of the key-way tensioning tools? It seems like they always come with one or the other.
The double ended tensioners in this kit do both, one end is shorter for Top of Keyway. But they are fiddly to use, which is why I'm getting a small set of specific Top of Keyway tensioners to make my learning experience easier.

I have some Sargent cylinders I want to re pin with screws and threaded chambers. what would the OD of the screw have to be in relation to the ID of the pin chamber?

I agree but am somewhat limited by the marketplace. There are only so many manufacturers and kits out there... If there's one I've missed, please let me know. I've done all of Petersons, SouthOrds, and a number of others already...
