Thin Lizzy was a badass band no doubt. This was the best lineup for sure with Gorham and Robertson on guitar. Live and Dangerous is my favorite from them.
Yes magic voice - I bought live and dangerous when I was 15 on 1979- - still got the album together with meatloaf 's bat of he'll. Now loaded on my mobile. Couple of beers and in go my airpods. Fab.😊
Thin Lizzy had very good quality musicians. The Guitars were powerful yet understated at the same time, that takes a lot of skill to do. Phil's vocals and Bass playing was very under rated. Drummers are always overlooked yet hold it all together and also drive the Rock forward. Thin Lizzy or Tin Lizzy were a very cool Rock Band.
Phil is one of the few stars I would have loved to spend time with. He seems like he was a super talented musician who grasped the whole of rock music, but he also seemed to have been a super nice dude. RIP Philomena and Phil.

One of the coolest bands ever and their music still rocks to this day. "Jailbreak" was and still is my favorite Thin Lizzy song and reminds me of being a teenager back in the late 70s. Seems like while all the cliquish, privileged kids were listening to garbage like Captain & Tennille, Christopher Cross and Chicago, me and my boys embraced the rebellious appeal of Thin Lizzy, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bad Company and The Outlaws - all with their original sound. Not many people know this but Phil Lynott was of Australian and Caucasian decent, i.e. his mother was white and his father black, which was taboo back in the day. Phil carried that chip on his shoulder through childhood and as a young adult. He embraced that outcast image and capitalized on it with his music and wicked bass guitar playing.
Love this. A lot cleaner and different than the FM Radio version I grew up with. I've loved Thin Lizzy since 77-78. This is some really in depth, great sounding stuff. Great job. Thank you for broadening mine and everybody's Thin Lizzy musical horizons. 🙏💕😎❣️🔥🎊
I was 14 and they played this song in the dorm. I bought a ticket and rode the bus to London. I have been to hundreds since but YOU NEVER FORGET YOUR FIRST SHOW. Johnny the fox meets Jimmy the weed. Hot to hustle.
I saw Thin Lizzy in ‘77 and ‘78 at the Tower Theatre in Upper Darby, PA. The ‘77 show was on October 20th and is significant for two reasons. One is that it was the same day as the Lynyrd Skynyrd plane crash and two is that it was recorded and released in 2009 under the title Still Dangerous. I also met them at a record store appearance when they were opening for Queen. There was hardly anyone there, so I got to spend a lot of time talking to Phil. He was as kind, humble and gracious as he could be. He answered all of my questions (which were many) and signed my Johnny the Fox album. As I walked away from him, I realized that I had been in the presence of greatness. My only regret is that I didn’t get to meet Brian Robertson because that was the tour where his arm was slashed in a bar fight on the eve of the tour when he was supposedly defending Frankie Miller. I did get to see him in ‘77 and ‘78, though. The time I met them they were opening for Queen. Gary Moore was substituting and I had no idea who he was. I walked up and asked him and he replied “I’m just a stand in.” The only reason I remembered him years later is because of the scars on his face, which were much more prominent in person than in pictures. I was just a 19 year old kid who had just made a fool of himself lol.
Lovely story. I saw Lizzy first in 78 in London. I saw them another 4 times.. Those Tower shows were also the basis of 78s 'Live and Dangerous'... 70% of L&D was from those Philly shows... They just treated and overdubbed a few bits for the record (don't listen to Visconti)... The 'Still Dangerous' record is just the raw shows, no overdubs, warts and all... You were watching history my friend. The best band I ever saw live.

Probably the only band I know of that got even better as they went on. They did an outstanding concert at the Hammersmith Odeon with John Sykes on guitar. Sadly Thin LizZy couldn't quite hold it together for whatever reason and in early 1986 Phil passed scuppering any realistic hopes of a reconciliation and reunion. Yea I know some of the other members have got back together again and in fairness done a cracking job. But it ain't quite the same without Phil.
Phil was a true rock star who unfortunately burned out due alcohol and drug abuse like many before and after him! Truly underappreciated especially in US but absolutely one of my favorites! Jailbreak is a rock classic

Philip was one of a kind. There was a guitarist from California who combined with a Glaswegian to form that twin guitar sound. Thus Thin Lizzy had a unique identity.

Excellent although the best version is when they did the Midnight Special back on 3/25/77. Gary Moore was the guitarist on that one.

Saw them on the 'Jailbreak' tour, Newcastle City Hall. They were fantastic. Phil Lynott had the audience in the palm of his hand.
