I am liking that stubble, bro! Maybe time to join and Darin and Tony (and me, actually) in the beardo club!

Best of lists are fun to do but are only personal opinions of the commentators. If done well with good opinions, they can prompt a watcher/listener to try something new or different to see if they like it. It also opens the door for discussion/conversation with people to voice their opinions.

it is true: it is difficult to judge musicians of a style you do not like

As someone with clinical depression, the fact people get angry and start foaming at the mouth over these lists actually lifts my spirits a bit😂
With that said, I go by what sound comes out of that amp from that guitar by that person. If what comes out of that amp is Cortez the Killer, I'm going to rank that person fairly high. I don't give two sh*it's if he can't sweep pick or play Bach flawlessly on the guitar.

Kinda like College Football rankings and top 10 and whose chosen for the play offs you could have 5 undefeated teams and then it’s based off status and opinions

This is plainly obvious to grown adults, but thanks, I guess.

I never look at lists by any prominent news outlet (especially Rolling Stone). Mainly because I don't care and they are just popularity contests made by people with no clue. It's hard to take them seriously anyways because they always leave out something. I would never even think of doing an overarching "best of..." list because it's pointless. Everybody's lists are subjective and are always based on opinions. I watch people on UA-cam do music lists because I know it's their personal opinion, and they are not saying it's a big definitive list or whatever. Corporate mags or webzines create lists just for clicks and it really doesn't matter in the end. I've never seen a list by any of these outlets that have ever made me want to go listen to something new because 9 times out of 10, I'm aware of everything or everyone on their lists. They are always generic.
