    I thought for sure your 6th thing was going to be something else, but since it wasn't I'll throw it in. Patience. For us small sellers, watching the big guys it seems like things should just sell quick and easy, but with only a few dozen/small-hundreds items listed it's not going to be the case. If they're quality listings by every other metric (ie, your awesome list here), they're going to sell but it may just take more time than you initially thought. Even knowing the ideal sell price (what's sold) and active price (what's active), pricing yours competitively on the full sell thru rate. I've had things go within minutes of listing, but I've also had things I listed weeks (and some months) ago, even ending + sell-similar hasn't bumped them off. Some things just gotta wait for that right buyer at the right time, best not to get discouraged and keep bumping the price down till you're giving it away, there are better strategies.

      100%! I made a comment recently that eBay is like steering a massive ship. You can change direction, but the ship will take time to respond. It doesn't mean it's not working. It just means that it takes time. I could have gone the patience direction and might have on a different day. Do you mind if I pin the comment? It's valuable.

    Very good video. Like you, I always try to include something in the description even though many resellers say it’s a waste of time.
    If you think it’s not too advanced, maybe you could do a video on how to set up shipping and return policies in a store. I know the rules I want to follow, but I need to formally put that in writing.

    Again, great video and very informative. I do the title a little differnt. For instance like ravens card lot, full card list in description. Buyer wants to know what cards, automatic eyes click on the listing. 1P GE 20A breaker, full specs in description is another example. I try to get eyes inside by enticing read description. I also put extreme effort in making a detailed description as well. Nothing irritates me more as a buyer, than a one or 2 sentence description. Just a little tactic I thought may help some. Whatever works for you is important. Keep up the positive energy man. You are doing awesome work.

      I can add that to the list. That said, here's what I would do. I decide exactly what policies I really want and need. Lets say you make 6 brand new policies that will cover what you need. All size are fresh and easy with no listings. Make them exactly the way you want. Once the new policies are ready, just move the listings over to the new policies. Once they are all moved, delete the old one. I can try to do that in an upcoming video. but, taking only a minute to think about it, that's probably the way the video would go. :-)

    Your videos are very helpful -- thank you. If you haven't already, I'd like you to address how to determine what "material" something is made of. Example -- brass...something looks and feels like brass, and other identical items are described as "brass"...but how to be sure? I understand you shouldn't put a question mark in your title....so do you just skip it? Say "possibly brass"? Same with dishes...some may be clearly marked fine porcelain...but are all plates porcelain? Are some ceramic? Is it better to leave out of the title and say in the description they are ceramic/porcelain? We never want to mislead customers, but hard to know some of these things.

    • @TheChaChingKing
      @TheChaChingKing  9 місяців тому

      If I'm unsure, I don't put it in the title. But I do include a statement in the description that I'm unsure what the material is. It's always been good enough for me.

    • @TheChaChingKing
      @TheChaChingKing  3 місяці тому +2

      Most things really are going to be most things. But, for me, an example of something I wouldn't want returns turned on for would be a box of costume jewelry. You know, something I've tried to photograph, but it's really just a box FULL of costume jewelry. You probably wouldn't inventory every item. So, if you took returns, you'd have almost no way of knowing if they picked through it, got what they wanted, and then returned it. So, something like that I wouldn't turn on returns. :-)

    • @TheChaChingKing
      @TheChaChingKing  9 місяців тому +1

      I'm a big believer that you need to use all the spaces available. Unlike some others, I like using the word New in the title. I think it separates my listing from others. eBay has flip-flopped on their recommendation several times. Sometimes they say to use it. Other times they say not to. I like it and don't hesitate to use it. That said, it's often the first word I would exclude if I didn't have space to put something I felt like was necessary in the title.

    I've recently started accepting returns, and I've been giving a return with their cost of shipping, too. Is that necessary? I returned something I'd bought, and the seller only refunded the purchase price, and I also had to pay return shipping, so it wasn't much of a return when it was all over.

    • @TheChaChingKing
      @TheChaChingKing  9 місяців тому

      I usually refund the shipping too, but it isn't necessary. The biggest benefit to refunding the shipping too is that eBay will often side with you if you are asking to have a negative removed. but, if it wasn't for "item not as described," you don't have to return the shipping.

      In the US, we can use a site called Pirate Ship to estimate shipping costs. You have to enter a zip code to a destination, though. I don't know any of the places in Denmark you could check. What I would do is find another seller or sellers in your area. Surely someone is selling on eBay in Denmark. If you could reach out to one of them, they could give you a lot more accurate information. You might even see (or organize) an eBay meet-up for a small group to share ideas.@@Jb-Trading257

    Where can I send a lengthy eBay question

    • @TheChaChingKing

      I try to get to all of the questions here that I can. It's becoming increasingly difficult to respond to individual lengthy questions. That's part of why I began the channel. I had been doing mentorships and free classes locally and I just couldn't get to everyone. This is my attempt to try and help and many people as I can.

    New,
    is your lead word? And then your title is redundant because it has NWT in it also
    Ariat jeans Mens 38 fire resistant etc etc
    New or NWT
    isn’t necessary in the title because that’s already in the item specifics

      I chose this listing because it got immediate attention, and all of the jeans sold right away. I literally just picked a listing that worked.
      But, if you can rewrite it and organize it in a way that makes more sense, absolutely do that.

    Are you SURE about the title having to use 80 characters NOW and TODAY? Because recently Ebay revised this requirement stating that you should shorten the title removing duplicates meaning, anything defined in the item specifics SHOULD NOT be repeated in the TITLE. A good example of this is mentioning LONG SLEEVE in the title and also defining it as a LONG SLEEVE in the item specifics ETC! So why then, if this video is only a month old are you stating otherwise??

      Duplicating key words wasn't the point I was trying to making concerning the 80 characters. The point I tried to get across is that filling in the title with relevant key words is a great practice. You are better of to not duplicate words that appear in the item specifics just so that you can hit other key words if possible. As far as shortening the titles, using as many of the 80 characters as possible is absolutely the way to go. eBay's search engine begins with the title. Any references you see to a shorter 55 character title are zombie pages from pre-2008 that someone has copied and pasted.
      All of that said, if you think that a shorter title is better, use shorter titles.

    RE Title: Brand FIRST. You dont put "NEW" in the title. No Abreviations That buyers would not generally understand. The first 4-5 words are paramount real estate for selling the title. You never use the word "new" in the title. Your size has no frame or reference as to metric decimal or otherwise. This example is so flawed. Your title would have been better if you have put ARIAT Mens Fire Resistant Jeans FR M4 Low Rise Boot Cut Size 32x30 Inch
    RE Description: Is way way short of what is needed for the buyer or for the algorithm.
    RE Returns: Its Ebay policy that everyone HAS to accept returns, this is not an option for the seller.

      It doesn't sound like you got much out of the video. The beauty in having your own business is that you can build it to suit you.
      Your revised title looks great.
      A lot of what you've written, I've seen before. The order of the words, for example. It's never mattered for us as long as the title is clear what I'm selling. It had no impact on our sell-through rate, even after we used it religiously for over a year.
      I've seen conflicting examples on using the word "NEW" from eBay.
      As of 2021, eBay gave this as an example,
      "1. Title format: "NEW” [brand] [product name] [model No] [Variants - size, color] [additional keyword]
      2. Listings that have titles with more than 60 characters have a 1.5 greater chance of selling
      3. An effective Item Title should be clear but concise and informative.
      4. Include keywords in the title that customers are likely to use in their search queries."
      As far as the description, the algorithm all but ignores it after the implementation of item specifics. I've written far more lengthy descriptions if I thought it offered more value to a buyer.
      As far as eBay not allowing sellers to have a no return policy, that's just incorrect as far as I know. Other than the example I gave in the video for "Items not as described," eBay has "No Returns" as one of the options.
      I didn't doctor the listing I used as an example. I used it because it worked well. It was immediately discoverable and resulted in selling all of the jeans that I had within a very short period of time.
      Most importantly, if you disagree with my examples and find my video flawed, don't do the things I'm doing. There's no way I'm right all the time. I'm giving my opinions and sharing the things that work for us. If those things don't work with you or fit your business plan, that's completely understandable.
