    Left Coast EV is changing...at least the location is! I have recently moved from British Columbia (arguably the hotbed of EV adoption in Canada) to Alberta, the exact opposite. New location and new challenges. The weather is going to be cold so stay tuned for some icy EV content in the coming months! Let me know in the comments what sort of videos you would be interested in watching.

    Videos about cold weather charging and range would be great to see, especially in our Canadian environment. Also some winter EV camping.

      For sure! Winter being very cold here, these test will be fun to do!

    Seeing more EVs and charging stations around AB now in 2024

    Infrastructure is lacking where I live as well in Northwestern Ontario. 200km+ with no charging options on many highways. That is insufficient for winter driving in extreme cold temperatures and or contaminated highways. My Model 3LR can do it, but many other EVs on the market today would struggle.
    I'm looking forward to your upcoming videos as cold weather content is lacking.

      Planning to do a lot of testing over the winter with as many different cars as I can get my hands on, so thanks for the feedback, much appreciated!

    Very nice. Alberta needs all the EV’s they can get!
    I don’t think you mentioned, those Flo fast chargers are all free to use aren’t they? That’s pretty cool!

    • @LeftCoastEV
      @LeftCoastEV  11 місяців тому +1

      They are indeed free to use at this location only (Leduc Recreation Centre). The other ones I showed under the solar powered canopy are paid chargers. Yes totally agree with you Alberta needs the EVs they can get, so I am hoping we will see more on them on the streets here in the near future.

    Numbers of people moving from BC to find affordable housing. I noticed the absence of traffic it is almost worth moving for that. Road trip to BC from Alberta for Christmas , ouch!
    It would be nice if they would establish centers for EV charging that included coffee shops or at least vending machines. I installed a Grizzl-E charger. Made in Canada so it was a win from the start.

      Maybe one day we will have EV charging centres like gas stations are today. It would be nice to stop, charge, get a cup of coffee or something to eat right there. Hopefully one day we will get there.

    Hey all the best in your new location and with your new adventures. I'm about to start my EV experience next month. We just found out that our ID.4 is being shipped from Chattanooga, should be in our driveway by the end of November.

      Thanks! Excited for the new chapter here in Alberta. Happy to hear your ID.4 is on the way. Once you get it let me know how you like it. I’ve yet to drive one but people who own them are very happy.

    Congratulations on your move to a lower cost area with respect to housing.
    With respect to the Flo charging stations, do you know if the solar panels are of the Bifacial? (i.e. can produce power from both sides of the panel). This type of panel would be able to collect energy from the sun reflecting off the snow in the winter.

    So.... In actual fact you should be praising the oil production in Alberta and continuing to encourage it IF you are serious about EV's and the growth of EV's. Without the continued production of oil and petroleum products, there will be no production of EV vehicles, there will be no production of EV charging stations. Don't believe me, then just take 5 minutes and starting looking at all the products which go into creating a single EV charging station which require some form of oil in their production.

    • @LeftCoastEV
      @LeftCoastEV  11 місяців тому +1

      Appreciate the insight. I would praise Alberta oil production if Canada (and Alberta itself) would use some of that oil money to invest in alternative fuel vehicles and the infrastructure needed to support them. Just like Norway is doing. Unfortunately we are not doing the same things as Norway is so until that happens I will reserve my praise.

    • @impoppa9647
      @impoppa9647 11 місяців тому +1

      @@LeftCoastEV Pretty much every company involved in oil production in Alberta is also heavily invested in some form of green technology. What you wish for even in the increase of charging stations and EV support networks needs to be driven via local city governments and their councils.
      It makes one question political narrative as in AB as Edmonton is quite left of center in its voting and it's people in power at all levels of government. "Usually" left of center politicians push for a reduction of anything to do with Oil and Petroleum production. But without continued oil and petroleum production we can't manufacture any of the products or the infrastructure required for EV growth and expansion.
      We need to be careful of what we wish for ;o)

    • @jayhoughton558
      @jayhoughton558 11 місяців тому +2

      It’s not like oil production is shutting down anytime soon. It will co-exist for quite a long time still.
      The sooner we are less and less dependant on oil though the better for us and the planet.

      @@jayhoughton558 As the demand for EV's increases so will the need for oil. You can not have a "greener" world and a EV world without oil. Too many products (including the casings and coatings with protect electrical wires) require oil in their production. Again just take 5 minutes to review each and every product that goes into building and creating an EV, building creating and maintaining a EV charging station, building creating and maintaining the infrastructure to power an EV charging network and you will see without the mining and production of oil we can't have the utopia people wish for who are anti-oil. It's not a for or against argument, its a common sense understanding of production, manufacturing and needs based requirements of how products are produced. oil production will continue to happen and most likely increase over time until the earth is folded up and put away. As without oil production we can't many of the products required to support an EV world.
