Welcome to Hartwick Performance!
GODZILLA - KING OF MUSTANGS
This is part 1 to the 2011 Mustang going from a 5.0L Coyote to the new 7.3L GODZILLA. We don't have a shop or all the best tools so we are going for it with what tools we have and a crane in the driveway. This engine is coming out in Ford's super-duty line, but we ordered it early and decided to make the Mustang hell on wheels! Yeah baby!

Luckiest dude to have a girlfriend like that that's willing to help him with shit like this, 1 in a hundred right there.
even better, wife ;)
@@hartwickperformance oh congrats man
One in a hundred? I like those odds.
@@hartwickperformance lol gotta get that base pay up somehow
Lucky man
Glad to see that re-enlistment money going to some sound decisions 🙌
Lmao. 100 true & couldn’t agree more
GuardGreen Id say lol quite sound.. one could even say quite loud actually 😂
Senior Airmen must be making fat stacks nowadays.
Indeed.
@@lukesdoings7150 they do pretty well. Get you a sweet 5.0L Coyote or big block V8!
for all the guys warning about balanced flywheels ... both the coyote and godzilla are internally balanced engines. That means the flywheels are neutral balance, so they can be swapped without issue. that's a lot nicer than old ford engines!
Did not know that. Thanks for the info
And a few GM engines. I believe the 400 had a counter weighted flex plate.
I was thinking that ,great answer
I have a (438 cubic inch Ford Performance block) Windsor that I elected to go internally balanced on. If you are going to use all stock parts is one discussion, in which case, a stock Windsor has a 28oz imbalance. Only 5 billion parts made to accommodate that... But if you are rebuilding your stock 302 or 351 W or C..."0" balance rotating assemblies, flywheels and balancers are the same price as equal quality 28 or 50 oz parts. So cry me a river.
Looks like you are going to need a hell of a cowl hood
Or an engine Drop-mount .
@@UnTamedMustang yup like a lowered k member like 18-up mustang uses for a cj manifold. The tb is the highest point of the 7.3. My F250 has the same engine and I've done a lot of measuring because I have 4 mustangs lol I'd like to know which one is the best suiter. My F250 is tuned with exhaust, its pretty badass
@@UnTamedMustang 8" drop k member bushings lol...
There is a low profile intake in the works. A guy who has one in drag mustang is developing it.
This brings back memories when I did stuff like that. I’m 76 and just enjoy watching kids that know what they are doing!
👍👍👍
That chick is a trooper!
Doesn't reside in base housing and hasn't been subjected to the wives club or family readiness group, to be molded into a dreaded and formidable DEPENDAPOTOMOUS, yet.
@@SaltySeabee I didn’t mean trooper in any military sense but your comment sounds like military talk and i am a civilian so im not really even understanding what you’re saying
Trooper for sure, she wears the uniform as well :)
@@hartwickperformance now that is badass, thanks to you both, keep up the good work!
Hell yea she is. I mean I have a great wife but she sure ain't turning a wrench... Thank you both for your service.
So this is what it’s like to live in a state that doesn’t take all your money!
You mean all the ones that voted red lol
You must live in IL
@@JohnnyAnderson1 all those states that voted red are literally Welfare States.... lets try and stick together buddy. You dont want to have an actual debate.. 👍🏼
@@elchucofried5683 Who do people on welfare vote for????? When they vote at all that is.....
Vote Republican!!
Man this looks so much fun! Cant wait to see the final product.
I'm a die hard chevy man .....but I will admit, I'm a lil jealous. .........good shit lil homie.......thanks for your service!!!
You are doing exactly what I said should be done with GODZILLA since I first discovered it! You know this engine has made 790hp in N/A form! From an old Veteran to a young Trooper 💪
how much dough thrown at it though?
@@robquin2460 A LOT!!!. Would have stuck with a boosted 5.0 myself, but to each their own
Yep 790hp with not much after market support yet. Just wait till it catches on. Na numbers a tiny 5.0 has trouble hitting naturally. And the 7.3 does it with just 1 cam and 2 valves per cylinder.
@@rickeydriskill1096 lets not forget how much is costs to get it there lol little coyote making 1000-1400 with stock motor just add boost.. Unopened coyote in the sevens.... Bring on gojira
@@robquin2460 thats just it. A 5.0 needs boost. The 7.3 will do it with boost as well and more. More size more hp and tq. If I could afford it. I would swap my 351w for a 7.3 not for a coyote.
I love for the fact that this is a husband and wife passion. Thank you fir your service, sacrifice, and bravery as well. You, and all service men and women, as well as all law enforcement, and first responders have my upmost respect. Thank you!
When I was an Airman, I could almost afford to eat rice and Ramen.
I’m retired AF and still work on base. You should see what the Airmen are driving these days. I was lucky to afford an old compact truck when I was an Airman. 😂
@@white09stang I'm in the same boat (replying from my other account). I retired 2 years ago but still work on base. Those SRBs are getting pretty sweet.
@@johnhickman106 excuse the lack of knowledge here. Just a ordinary citizen walking by. What’s an airman ? Im assuming pilot ? Again, i know my stupid is showing but i genuinely don’t know.
@@simplybuilt_1708 Not a stupid question. An airman in this context refers to the Air Force enlisted paygrades of E-1 through E-4; the lowest on the payscale.
@@johnhickman106 lol an Airman is the equivalent to Soldier in the Army, Seaman in the Navy or Coast Guard, Marine in the Marines. It's a generic term used for any member in that branch of.service
Came for the swap, stayed for the bunz...
Ya need to figure out how swap that supercharger over to the Godzilla....
" TFL " on youtube did it
Thanks for your service!!!!
Thanks for sharing this build with us!
Good stuff 👍
Thank you for your service. Ive always loved the look of the 2010 2011 mustangs, subbed to see both these sickk builds!🤘🏼
Good stuff man. My godzilla is staying right in my 2020 Superduty lol but I'm glad to see someone with the balls to do this.
Man, I wanna swap my F150 now! 😁
@@BackyardBMX73 I will contribute to that build
Ceate engine from Ford is under 10k fully dressed
@@BackyardBMX73 Me too
@@cyclonekevin6199 right on man!
I’m so glad someone is doing this. I put these in the super duty’s all day at KTP. WE ALWAYS TALK ABOUT SOMEONE DOING IT AND YOU ARE DOING IT!!!!! Can’t wait to see updates
Great video 👍 and a woman in your life to help and encourage you. You are blessed thanks so much for your military service
I’m SO ANXIOUS and EXCITED to see this swap!!!
You have a awesome wife , that cool the way she helps u
Great to see this. Very interesting info on the flywheel, pilot bushing, mounts and things. Hope to see it running soon.
super cool stuff bro. thank you for sharing and documenting this for others
This looks like a great build, can’t wait to see it finished
Cool looking project. Glad to see something different. Thank you for your service 👏👏🔥
Man, that is one happy property! Nothing but Fords! 🤘🏻 Same as my wife and I.
Thanks for the information. I am planing on doing a sn95 that I have. Also thank you for your service. 👍👍👍
Been seeing this engine in the back rooms of Essex engine plant for a solid year or 2. I'm so happy to see this swap happening
First, thank you for your service! Second, I wish my wife liked helping as much as yours does, nice! Third, I subbed, your channel is going places, good editing and this is your first video! Nice job! Good luck on the build. 😁
Impressive. Can’t wait to see it run!
Dude u got it made. You know ur stuff and a woman that'll get her hands dirty. I salute both of u guys.
I’m actually incredibly happy to see someone doing this swap. This is my new dream build on my 03 gt. Which is honestly kinda shitty because I’ve been dumping my life into a 4.6 4v for the last three years😂
Someone is making 2500hp with the 4.6.
@@thebeardedgolfer9819 no no I’m only 20 and car parts are expensive. It’s should be maybe 650ish
Wow! Awesome. 7.3L Godzilla is amazing gift by Ford as modern big block V8. Get em while u can !
I can not wait to see her finished! She fits snug!
Soooo coooool!!!!!!
Looking forward to more!
Awsome job kiddo!
And thanks for your service young man, you have spirit !
Pretty cool that you have all these nice projects going on, love the creativity.
This is gonna be insane!! subbed and waiting for more!
Thank you for your service. I applaud anyone who puts their life on the line for America no matter what they do in the military. Thank you for the video also.
Good luck and thank you for your service! I just retired last year from the AF.
Thank YOU for your service
I'm not a ford guy. or even a mustang guy... But I decided to Sub at 1:22 :)
damn right!
I see what you did there👀😂
was never a mustang fan. but years of gm turning out shoddy merchandise and the new body style of the s550 mustang, i decided to buy a mustang. and now i look at all mustangs differently.
I just ordered a new F250 7.3 last week. It is cool to see an old school pushrod engine gaining in popularity. I am a 26 year army/air force retired veteran. You have a great woman, and a knack for cars. Great job on the video young man. Enjoy those cars...my body can't do some of that wrench turning anymore thanks to my injuries. However, I enjoy seeing the next generation keeping the car hobby alive. Keep up the great work!
this is my kind of channel- the 65 galaxie will be awesome with the coyote swap. good stuff.
Be thankful that you have such good help. You are blessed.
going to be a fire build 🔥💯💯
Very daring going from a coyote to Godzilla. Coyote is tried and proven and Godzilla has had some builds but takes much more. But I like it!!
This video's gonna be huge! Good stuff!
Bad ass video, thanks for sharing
Subbed for sure, great content. Not too flashy just honest real content love it.
Definitely staying locked on this.. i can't wait for part 2 already!
Gonna be an awesome build! Subbed, notifications on!
Been waiting for someone to take on this project!
Good for you!
That's awesome your special needs doesn't hold you back at all. You are truly an inspiration.
Love the first gen lightning😎👌🏽badass
Awesome channel and thanks to both of you for your service! You gained a new subscriber here!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE. Great stuff, LITERALLY!
Thank you!
Can't wait to see this finished!
Great engine choice. Looking forward to your swap.
Watching all the way from Brisbane Australia a credit for yourself and wife representing your country and doing something different for a build
Keep up the good work!
Good Clean Video, Subscribed !
Right on!! I’m an instant fan and will now be following you.
First things first.... thank you for your serivice! Second..... this looks like a really cool project and I might consider going the same route on my mustang GT. I’m still kicking around a few ideas.
Third and on a personal note..... watching you and your lady makes me really happy and reminds me a lot of a great girl I had when I was your age and wrenching on my toys. She was always there and was very much hands on the whole way. Treat her like gold and never stop, girls like her who support us and our hobby are incredibly rare!
Good luck and I can’t wait to see more content from you
Just taking a moment to Thank YOU for your service!

Great work man! Great hard working american right there brotha!! Hell yeah!
Few of the times I see truck engines get put into cars🤩👍🏽 hood job
That’s really sick Jim and Lauren!
Video showed up on my recommendations. Subscribed. Let's see how big this channel gets.
How many people complained about the usage of a claw-hammer, those types really crack me up, if I made video's, I'd use a 3/4 drive ratchet as a hammer just for them, lol, great content, thanks for sharing.
Everywhere you look is a Ford. He is a true Ford man.....
You are the folks i truly WISH were my neighbors!,ROCK ON, n BE SAFE!
Subscribed! Keep up the good work!
I was watching videos of the new F-250, but saw thisssssssss. Awesome video! Awesome collection! Awesome Wifey! haha. Keep up the good work you two.
Great build brooo, love the builds that are different from the rest, hope the best
I wanna swap one of these into my Ranger. Good to know that so many off the shelf parts were used.
Australia watching here this is going to be a mean build can't wait to see the finished install
And this Kiwi is watchin too..
You made it seem so easy 😅 good job
Great to see a military guy doing this, props dude, enjoy the build bro
Waymemt, you are my buddies neighbor , I have to pass by your house all the time. I can't wait to see that thing in action.
I’m so excited to see this
I saved every penny from my deployment came home bought a car cash. And honestly 15 years later I still have a nice car. It may not seem like it but you are setting yourself up for the future and having something nice to drive around later. Hooooooah
I’d have put that 7.3 in that lighting!!! Would be a very cool build for a truck! But it will definitely be awesome in the Shang....good luck!!!
Was waiting for someone to do this to an s197, thank you! You got a new sub
DUDE get to work! This is awesome! Need more content........... PART 2 WOOHOO
Oh yeah HHH🏁🚗💨🚦 I like it 👍
Wow a crate engine out already amazing
As much as I love mustangs, I really dig that Galaxie in the driveway.
It's my 66 Fairlane! I've also got a 67
Ok cool can waiting to see it bro lol
Looks interesting, I subbed and will be watching !
Jody is tapping that for sure
I'll uuh...gladly hold on to that coyote for ya lol
great job you to work awesome together nice video
Subsribed. If I can't get my turbo 3v to act right might consider this swap in the future!
Ur channel is about to grow massively!!!
For Coyote guys: I've heard of cracking issues with the 11mm head bolt block and lots of boost, especially if it hasn't been sleeved, as the head bolts only thread down to about the same level as the knock sensors. With the 12mm blocks the bolt threads go clear down into the main webbing and are said to be much stronger. In 2011 they had the 12mm design but went to the 11mm some point later on. I believe the 18 and up they switched back to the 12mm head bolts. You can have a 11mm block drilled at tapped for a 12mm bolts/studs but it's cheaper just to start with a 12mm block if you plan on high boost.
