I’ve got a lot of messages, asking me why I didn’t scrape the deck out, I did it off camera, but here is the video if you would like to watch it YOU WONT BELIEVE WHAT FLIUD FILM DID TO MY BRAND NEW ZERO TURN

I always clean all the crud off of my blades and balance them whenever i pull them to sharpen them.
A flap disc is made to remove metal and you're right it does an excellent job. A cupped wire brush is better suited to remove debris and leave the metal. It looked like there was still plenty of debris caked in the deck.

We always clean, Sharpen and balance our blades. I have a 2009 exmark with over 4000 hours and still has the original spindles and spindle bearings.
wow thats a miracle
@@THEMOWERMEDIC1 I could be wrong but one thing I think that has helped the bearing life is keeping the blades properly balanced.
The angle grinder and a flap disc is the only way I sharpen blades? Using a regular bench grinder, is one of the worst things you can do, to literally ruin the heat treatment of them? At least I know I'm not the only guy sharpening blades without a bench grinder? It's a lot of work with a flap disc, but it gets the best results and maximum lifespan of any blade? Glad to see a knowledgeable mechanic in the lawn care repair industry, like myself? Great job, sir.
That's why I love my bench grinder for my mower blade- I sharpen with the stone and clean the blade with the wite wheel.
bench grinders overheat the metal. use a flap disc
When sharpening you blades by hand try not to turn the blade surfaces blue cause you'll take the temper out of the steel IMO.
i keep a spray bottle of water handy near by to cool them of.
Just my 2 cents worth.
Keep the videos coming to Pittsburgh Pa
Good tips. I’ve used that style for long time. Like it too.
I concur! Great tip!
thanks for stopping by! love the new shop! you’ll have to give me the grand tour one day!
Outstanding Quick Tip!!! Also liked the nod you gave to Taryl 👍🏻
Don’t forget to scrape the deck.
I have videos all about that
@@THEMOWERMEDIC1 👍
Lol. That's one job I hate doing! Any suggestions?
No I don’t. I hate it as well.
@@donmayberryjrsOPElet mower cool if a push type so you don't hit it with cold water and just hit under deck with water hose. Just do it that day when fresh and it will wash out clean. How I do it works great. Trick is doing it while it's fresh don't let it set.
Great Advice and great work!
Right on
Little scrape scrape need doing
Oh yes, I will whenever I’m done mowing for sure
