Thank you for sharing this. This is why when I find a good shop, I stay with them. The Mom and Pop shop that work on my vehicles have been in business since 1952!
A good work ethic, you’ll have a life time customer. Fancy not putting on the part allowing it to leak. I can understand if the shop suggested a safety shield but not gave him the can’t leave the shop without one. You help Customer’s where you can, that passion. It would be nice to hear customer reaction in your repairs, I understand you can’t do it on film but just give us a run down like was extremely happy, oh didn’t think it was that bad or time to buy a new one like with that Stihl MS362 would of liked to know their reaction when you broke the bad news.
Nice. Got a good tip, and saw someone who knows how to take care of their customers. I used to make my boss mad when I was in the glass business and gave customers inexpensive repairs for free, until they realized how many returned and asked for me specifically. It’s just good business.
I've given away a bunch over the 35 yrs. I've repaired small engines and gained many customers that way , some still come in 8 years after I officially closed , but I'll fix them up anyway !! Good job and perfect price 👌
Been a sub for awhile now and just wanted to say thank you and I appreciate your channel. You have helped me keep my toys running with minimal pulls on the cord and that’s a good thing. If I was nearby I definitely would be a customer. Good health to you sir.
I would file a report with the BBB if this shop doesn’t return your money. I would tell anyone that would listen not to use this shop.In fact, I would take them to small claims court.
I bet I know which shop the owner of that Echo goes to the next time he needs something worked on! Great job and good explanation. Does that vent valve go in a particular location, or just hang out? Hard to believe the guard is required by law. Is that a state law, or something the feds came up with? Seems like the only good it does is automajically cut the line to the right length. I have my guard on, and I still get hit with stuff.
Good info. I have a Small Engine shop in North California. Very busy , cannot believe any , Wrench would leave an open hole in fuel system. Take payment . Thank you for the video's .
So against the law not to have a guard ( debris shield ) but ok for check valve missing & leaking fuel🤔. Bill states carburetor cleaned, if it was done they should have seen the check valve was missing. Curiosity & experiences such as this is what started me years back to do my own repairs. Stay well, Joe Z
I am a tech at an echo dealer i can not believe what you are showing me. That is a Complete rip off to that customer. For there tech not to see the missing tank vent shows how incompetent the tech was. He needs to go back to echo tech school.
Yep . That guy got ripped . 1$ in parts at best plus your time . Good to repair it for free 👍👏👏Life time customer for a few cents . I do the same here at the course . Staffers bring in their personal gear and I’ll only charge them for any parts I don’t have on hand . Labours free . Most of the time it’s just lack of maintenance on their end .
It’s hacks like this that give repair people a bad name. Anyone with ANY kind of small engine experience should have caught this in 2 minutes of inspecting the fuel system. I have used this model for 3 years and it’s a reliable trimmer.
There are a lot of incompetent people in the repair business, but what's worse, there are a bunch of thieves. And this shop that screwed that customer are thieves, plain and simple. If I were the customer, I'd take this video and shove it in their faces, and demand a full refund. If they gave me any guff, my next stop would be the attorney general's office. Put those crooks on notice.
I agree with you that is frustrating to me thats why I work on a lot of my companies equipment myself the shops around here want even clean or rebuild a carburetor any more they just put on a new one they are basically part swappers now days. We are using the 2620T'S and are very happy with them so far seem to be a good trimmer. I like them better better than the stihl FS 94 R we used to use I couldn't keep clutches in them now I can't get my guys to keep the guards on any trimmer they do run the line a little long but the stihl is the only brand of trimmer i have ever had clutch problems with in 13 years of being in business. Great video Jeremy keep up the great work and videos. God Bless!!
Yep. I always worked on my equipment. One time I took a trimmer in for repair, I had a simular issue as on the vid. $70 & they didn't fix the problem I took it in for.
If a new carb is 40 and the rebuild kits are 20-25 I am just replacing the carb. Why would you not? If the carb is 80 and the rebuild is 15 then it might make sense but if someone is paying for the repair it is generally better to replace for return concerns
i had a similar experience with my shop, i'm an ameteur small engine "tech" and i took my cs-400 to them to have the primer bulb changed, because i was busy that week and couldn't attend to fix it. when i got back, 22 bucks later i looked at the note and it said "wants to run away" on the description. i was like, Hm... what does that mean? So i started it and it "idled" at 1500 RPM and would not stop. i had a good friend look at it and the tech at the shop forgot to put the throttle linkage back into the slot they slide into....
Does this machine carburetor has hidden adjustable screw I do have a hedge trimmer exactly like this model!! Main can run in a low idle long day but don’t rev up
How does pressure build up in the fuel tank when the carb is drawing fuel? I had an 029 Stihl that kept blowing off the vent tube it had so much pressure.
@@THEMOWERMEDIC1 but isn't the vent designed to only let air in? This model uses the odd vent tube with a set screw in the end and not the usual valve. Thank you for responding.
Don’t the shops over there have a warrantee on the work performed? If not right the shop fixes at their expense? Also, first time I’ve heard the shield is required by law. Is that a load of bull?
@@THEMOWERMEDIC1 Why would you be sued? The truth is the truth. The video is the evidence. And they held the customer for ransom when they lied about not being able to release the trimmer from the shop without replacing the guard. Thieves.
That's totally unbelievable that tech should find another living ??😠😠 that's why I don't do warranty on trimmers they always change you no matter what great video 👍👍
That job would be easier if you had some of Taryl's tentacle-like fingers.
Nah just soak the fuel line in k100 lol
LMAO, NOT K100!

For sure , you have a customer for life. Honest good work will always gain respect.!
There is no right without wrong. Shops like that make your channel more favorable and popular. Hopefully, that guy starts watching your channel soon.
Thank you for demonstrating not just the repair but what integrity looks like as well.
Tegrity farm.
That $150 bill was some shady stuff right there. I'd be perturbed as well...
That one "thumbs down" was from the repair shop that was nearby your shop!
That thumbs down hit before the video could’ve been played in full. Seems that I have a few haters
Honesty will always bring you good customers so keep up the good work.
Amazing some shops do that kinda garbage work. He should’ve gotten some of his money back.
Good work!
Most shops are incompetent and have zero clue how to fix a peanut butter sandwich with the instructions under the lid
Reason I started back was because friends were being ripped off and now it’s 6 days a week at 71
Amazing the amount of people that will put their name on a bad repair. Good show my friend.

the gas intake tube always goes on the nipple that's on the actual body of the carb. not the nipple that's on the screwd on piece that holds the bulb.
Would love to come by your shop one day just to say "Hi".
Ty for the video. 🙌🏽
$75.00 for a carb service. I need to up my prices a bit ! Good video brother 👏🏻👍🏻🔧

👍
Where’s the old one is it in the tank ,jimmy Aust
They tech probably makes commission on parts and labor. Selling stuff it doesn’t need. 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
Is it illegal to release a trimmer with a broken shield?
No
I had that very thought and would have them prove it or walked out and come back with a lawyer and sued their ads.
