My biggest pet peeve is oil leaks caused by plastic oil drain valves #THEMOWERMEDIC1 #KAWASAKIENGINES #SMALLENGINEREPAIR - Авто та транспорт
I replace those things with a straight piece of galvanized pipe, coupler and Male plug.
I have the plastic oil drain on my 19 hp vertical Briggs. You are correct, it does seep oil. Will do this at my next oil change. Thanks for all the info! Recently found your channel and I really enjoy watching. Again, thank you for the videos and your no nonsense presentation.
Great tip. I may have to get one of those for my lawn tractor. Thanks for sharing.
I would put a pipe plug in the end of the ball valve as well would keep the ball valve clean and if it did let by oil would not leak out good video keep them coming 👍
I wanted to do a
Pipe plug as the repair but the customer didn’t
I almost didn't recognize you Looking good guess you getting cleaned up for the wedding or maybe its already happened i can't remember if it was the 19th or what the date is. that is a great tip none of my engines have came with the plastic oil drain plug but i sure wouldn't like it if they had one. This tip should help a lot of people for sure. Have an awesome day. God Bless!!!
Sweet, I might try to fit one up my Briggs 13.5 on a Murray rider. Thanks
I was in the carpet cleaning industry. You can get ball valves with viton seals that have a handle on them. I had one on my truckmount engine. It was on a hose that you could put into a jug and then open the valve.
That's a great idea, I hate those plastic things.
I have a Hustler Raptor with Kawasaki Engine and i bought a Kawasaki Brand 12" braided hose with Brass Cap on the end so it screws directly into the engine and then all you have to do is unscrew the cap at the end of the hose and hang it down and dump it straight in the bucket. My mower had that piece of crap plastic valve also and that thing was ridiculous... the valve opener was for a flat head screwdriver and it's stripped that part out so then I had to try to use vice grips to grab ahold of it and once I got it loose the oil would pour all over the deck anyhow so that was a blessing to find that part
Awesome video. I'm one of those weirdos who is fed up with these companies and likes to put in as strong a magnetic drain plug I can find in an effort to give these companies the least amount of my money as possible for as long as possible.
Nice tip!
I agree. I don't believe I've come across any that haven't leaked. Even on new mowers. I always just cap them off with a pipe plug. I need to stock up on those ball valves! Cheers Buddy! Zip~
ZippoVarga pipe plug was gona be my fix but the customer was adamant about wanting a QD valve
Great idea
Great video!!
Great upgrade for sure.
I just wanna know what that oil filter did to piss off the owner?
pretty nifty thanks,
Never trust a mechanic who doesn't use the right size wrench.
😆😆
Yes sir they always leak. We see them loose all the time. Good job MM1
Wonder where I could find one to fit briggs and Stratton engines
Those plastic quick drains suck. I’ve seen one so bad that if you took that dust cap off oil would continuously drip out. And depending on the engine, they usually make a mess. I bought a nice clear drain tube that I like to use for those, but it is still a pain nonetheless. I’ve seen those on many engines, not just Kohler, so I think the drain plug is usually up to the manufacturer of the equipment. It is most common on MTD and AYP, but I see them on everything.
I think my Kawasaki engine on my Bobcat has this problem. Oil everywhere. I think the governor seal may also be leaking.
I made the mistake of driving my tractor around the house to do my spring tune up only to seize up the engine on my Husqvarna. I’m so pissed now! I’ll never use another one.
Where do I get one of those mini ball valves I can't find them.
#7 - Oil Drain Valve: part #143610
#30 - Nylon Fitting: part #363854
@Ben Phartine this link for the oil drain valve is a bust. I get no hit when searching for it for over a hour. New link please?
Would you helping me about finding the reference number about Oil filter, fuel filter, spark plug for Kohler PM0418000, thank you
So will these work for kohler ch730 v-twin
THX
Where can we get it? whats the part number and name???
Look at you all cleaned up, you look 20 years younger LOL!
Ball valve and back that up with a plug. Depending on the application I extend everything out so the damn thing will drain without making a mess.
Will change mine lickey split.
Cool
Are you sure it 1/2 and not 3/8 pipe ??
Thanks for the tip.
What is the purpose of the Anderson Power pole connectors on that piece of equipment?
Battery
@@THEMOWERMEDIC1 Thanks. Makes sense but all mine are interior or under the hood of my truck which are [mostly] protected from the elements. How do they hold up always out in the elements?
Great !
Holly smoke I thought mowermedic was a doctor looking young!!
Can't find this valve anywhere
Use a 3" nipple then the Valve, then a hose barb. 8" of hose bent Upwards and ziptied.
I'll just use a threaded cap instead of a $30 ball valve. Just like my snowblower.
If it was extended out little farther you might be on to something
Husky has 3/8" thread
Please post the part number
You must
Have skipped over that part of the video.
@@THEMOWERMEDIC1 I evidently was asking for too much
So, you skate around the link and no post of that exact valve link going about -3- years now? Can only assume like most do that part was sucked up at a discount by hog repair people. Resold to a stand by at over. Where is the link? I need only 1. I will find it in time I guess because you never one time took the time to reply to any vid reply I made over years. ?
Yup. Those things are HORRIBLE.
I was stupid enough to buy one of these for my TB30, and it was apparent that it was leaking within 2-3 mows.
I went with the Drainzit hose, and have never looked back.
But, whatever you do....... DO NOT waste your money on these yellow pieces of CRAP!!!
Guy looks like a real-life version of a random Disney Pixar character......

There not needed because they don’t charge oil anyway
Leaking isn't the worst case scenario...I've seen one be opened by a small branch snagging it...oil dumped, engine ruined.

Wow. $26 bucks. Just run down to a big box store and but a close nipple and ball valve for $6. Its a little bigger big will fit most places. You can remove the handle or cut the handle shorter. I have put the handle in a vise and bent it 90 degrees then shorten it.
Great idea. I am thinking that I could use some stainless steel braided hose from the plumbing horde
Working on a 26 HP Briggs in a MTD
Sounds good
