I saw Turner Classic Movies was showing this and recorded. I figured I saw it in 1958-59. Still a great musical comedy. Love it still. A great pick me up during this stressful time of Covid Virus.
Brilliant Danny Kaye. Beautiful PierAngeli and the amazing acrobatic dancing of Tommy Rall (he's the one catches Danny all the time) who was Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly wrapped into one.

I can't believe I found this on UA-cam! Thank you SO much for posting it! My mom had the soundtrack record album when I was a kid, and we always loved this song. Watching the performance is a real treat!
Who wouldn't join the circus to be with Pier Angeli? What song can't Danny Kaye make at least interesting and fun? A favorite album of my distant youth.
Whatever he does , it in his own way simply that unique , impossible to copy him , I simple have no bad memories at all, why is it quite hard to find his films is a complete riddle for me , so many people think likewise magnificent for example his five pennies or me and the colonel.( Curd Jurgens ).
A new Broadway Musical, based on this film would be a huge success. All the songs from the film could be used, with additional new ones by Alan Menken or Stephen Sondheim. The Broadway Theater, at Broadway and 53rd Street would be the perfect venue, with its large stage and large seating capacity.

I grew up thinking that this would have been a good musical. -- And wouldn't it make a great stage musical now??? A little story re-write and a Danny Kaye type, it'd be fun. -- Wait there ain't no Danny Kayes of today. See America?? Stop encouraging American Idol!
I know that people thought this movie was bad, but I can remember watching it as a kid, and even now I still love it. I adore Danny Kaye.
