The tragic thing about Lady Gaga is that if you look up her stuff before she was famous, she was all about R&B and Soul and loved her piano music and straight up singing. That's who she is and that's what she loves but she had no success at it until she adopted the crazy costumes, pageantry and pop-art crap. She basically had to become someone she wasn't to succeed. So much for borne this way and self acceptance. Yes Bill, it is horseshit. And by the way, the song she ripped off outright was an 80's euro-pop song by Maylene Farmer called "Libertine" (Gaga's "Borne this way").
There are a lot of girls who play piano and sing sad songs, she wasn't special, just wasn't freaky. Of course she isn't creative, there is whole team behind "her" music and designs. She isn't even close to David Bowie or Prince.
That's also the problem with a lot of these new artists and bands, that they care too much about the money and not so much about the actual music. And people who listen to only that kind of music are a problem, because they don't want to give a non mainstream band a chance. It's either too far from their comfort zone, or their "friends" don't listen to that which makes it "uncool".
Here after reviving my interest and curiosity for Gaga this week. I just realized I really like her again. And I thought of this podcast moment and had to hear it again 💀
his podcast is probably 30% sports and about 70% of his sports talk he makes hilarious for the people who don't know what he's going on about (I'm Australian), give the podcast another go!
The whole riff on how people that truly don't give a fuck don't go around telling other people they don't give a fuck is brilliant. Bernard Williams, almost as great a philosopher as Bill, had a great piece on nihilists (the ultimate don't-give-a-fuckers) that you all should check out if you get the chance.
