Dude. I’m a recovering opioid addict. It feels like a warm hug. And I felt invincible and had so much energy. You’re not romanticizing anything, you’re telling how it got you. The dude that sold me the stuff jacked the price up every few weeks. I would’ve given him my house for a few pills. I spent every day chasing pills. Trying to make sure I had what I needed. Jesus Chris, dude. This is the best discussion on "personal accountability" I think I've ever seen. Okay, while what I'm about to say might seem a little "harsh" I sincerely don't mean it as a negative... Your videos have been popping up in my feed for a few weeks (because once in a while I might watch an occasional old-school WWE match) and when I saw your videos my first reaction was "why the f*ck is this 'Tough Enough' guy coming up in my feed!?" Eventually I took the bait and I'm only 3 or 4 videos in and I cannot express enough how down to Earth and genuine you come across. I strongly strongly strongly advise anybody who read this please for the love of God do not take painkillers unless you absolutely have to and if you do follow the instructions, you will always believe that “it would never happen to me” but remember…drugs do not discriminate. and God bless you all.
I am so sorry for what you have been through. Like I’m your other message, I said there are more of us. And I mean that. I agree, that painkillers do NOT discriminate… the only HATE. Former addict here. I get it, man. Dang, do I get it. About 7 years clean, but this is on the heels of 17 years of addiction. It sucks. What's crazy now is that I have debilitating spinal stenosis-but can't take pain pills! The irony. If ever there was proof God has a sense of humor, just take a look at my life. Good on you, Mav, for getting where you are today. Such a legend.
Maven, you follow lessons that many adults never learn by taking accountability for your actions and learning from mistakes. No one should criticize or ridicule you for any of this.
This is great. You hear all these crazy celebrity drug stories and it just makes you feel negative thoughts about that celebrity. you rarely get to hear their side of the story and realize they're just a human who made a mistake.
Need more stories like this out there, there is too much shame and hiding HOW people became an addict so they can ever really address the addiction. Doesn't matter if you screwed up along the way, no one deserves to suffer alone.
I have nothing but respect for someone who can take responsibility for what they have done. Being truthful about your past and sharing it with people and not making excuses and being real is such a breath of fresh air.
Maven's voice is very calming and his consistent growth and accountability so refreshing in these times. With the backdrop of the park and even Maven's sweater, it was really well done on a serious topic. I'm legitimately excited whenever I see a new video drop from this channel.
You know what good riddance to HSN. All they cared about was their “image” they didn’t care to help you. WWE still cared to help you even when you were not employed with them. That’s amazing
Sad to say, that's partially also WWE protecting THEIR image. Especially considering the history of drug related deaths in their company and the industry as a whole.
This takes so much humility followed by well deserved pride. You own your shit, make no excuses, and are now flourishing with honesty, hard work, and being the genuine article. You have turned a mistake into a valuable lesson. Your skills as an educator are still ubaduntly clear. I've had the pleasure of meeting you, and you are truly one of the most compassionate and inviting introverts I've ever witnessed. (We've all watched you and Taker on his podcast) As a fellow introvert, you are the man.
I got so much respect for Maven. Thank you for sharing... Most people won't share but I PROMISE you everyone can relate. Many people run from their problems and mistakes (Guilty of it myself). Everyone has their battles, no one is perfect, so why we're always so worried about people knowing our struggles is weird. We’re all glad you’re still here Maven. I used to laugh at the idea of addiction as a disease. Until I noticed it happening to me and learned that while everyone has the capacity to become addicted, different people have different levels of susceptibility. I don’t necessarily view it as a physical disease, even the physical addiction. But it’s like any mental or personality disorder. It may not happen to you, but don’t think that it can’t, because it can happen to anyone. Some peoples’ brain chemistry makes them more easily affected. Stay strong, Maven. It’s so exhausting . It’s insane . People don’t understand. “Why don’t you just quit? Just don’t take the pills.” Doctor shopping was how you could stay stocked . Congrats brother . I’m trying to hang in there too.
Jesus Chris, dude.
This is the best discussion on "personal accountability" I think I've ever seen.
Okay, while what I'm about to say might seem a little "harsh" I sincerely don't mean it as a negative...
Your videos have been popping up in my feed for a few weeks (because once in a while I might watch an occasional old-school WWE match) and when I saw your videos my first reaction was "why the f*ck is this 'Tough Enough' guy coming up in my feed!?"
Eventually I took the bait and I'm only 3 or 4 videos in and I cannot express enough how down to Earth and genuine you come across.
Maven, I say with with the most utmost sincerity, please keep doing what you are doing.
With this trajectory, I would like to see you continue with you own path upwards and inspire those listening.
You seem like you're in a good place and I honesty hope that you reach even greater heights for the purpose of fulfilling your wkn life journey as well as inspiring those who you engage with along the way.
I like how you took accountability for being a hater and then realized how dope Mavens content is.
I 100% agree and now I appreciate watching him. F'n rooting for this guy. Sometimes, the universe knows when it's your time and I think that energy is feeding through people like us. We're finding him and validating him. I think his time of redemption is over and he's on a good path of seeing that Starlight again. More power to him.
@@wayharris8966 couldn’t agree more , i’m on my 3rd vid and every vid so far …he has said something that resonates with my life.
i hope others are also inspired and taking in some knowledge from Maven, blessings to you all
Thank you maven, and If there’s anyone who is capable of understanding this, it would be me. Started with a painkiller before I know it it was heroin and before I know it, I was sleeping on the streets when it gets to the point where you’re not taking substance for feeling good, but to be normal, that’s when you realize the deep shit here at least that was the case with me.
They seek to destroy! I hope you continue to have better days and I thank you for sharing your story with me. You are in my prayers, and again thank you for helping us do what we do here. Means more than you know!!!
Another person had the same comment but didn’t get a response maybe because you paid.
@@biggfacts6083yea for sure. And rightly so, if someone is willing to donate they should get a personal message back.
Nobody would have the time to put as much effort as Maven does into replying to every message.
But in saying this, he replied to a comment I made a while back and without a dono.

Been there done that Maven. Glad your doing okay. Funny thing for me is though, I almost became a wrestler but was hooked before I even tried to take that journey. I never became a wrestler and im glad because I have no doubt, I'd be dead right now. God bless brother. Oh, You should be a narrator or something along those lines, You have a likeable quality.

Maven, you're a survivor. And we're grateful to have you here, living to tell your stories.
Thank God your still here to share you story
Need more stories like this out there, there is too much shame and hiding HOW people became an addict so they can ever really address the addiction. Doesn't matter if you screwed up along the way, no one deserves to suffer alone.
What about being addicted sugar.
I have nothing but respect for someone who can take responsibility for what they have done. Being truthful about your past and sharing it with people and not making excuses and being real is such a breath of fresh air.

I don't care what anyone says addiction is a disease and until it touches your life you have NO CLUE. Kudos to Maven for getting himself right and owning his mistakes. He inspires me and I hope it inspires others to learn from his mistakes.
Thank you so much Maven for being so candid and open about substance abuse and mental health. You are a true light in the industry and a truly good man.
It's crazy how many people start with a legitimate injury, no history of substance misuse, are prescribed pain killers and end up taking 35 a day.
You're absolutely brilliant at this, Maven A complete natural. Your channel is going to blow up soon enough. All the best, sir. You deserve all your success.

You can really see the teacher experience coming out in these videos. Couldn't see it in your wwe promos. But I can see the engagement, warmness, encouragement, and remorsefulness in his delivery here. Great traits for a good teacher. I bet your students loved you.

from one person in recovery (8 years in December) to another, i'm proud that you were able to see the bright side of this from your downfall and had a solid support system around you. a lot of people get that, but don't use it. you were given an opportunity from a friend and didn't waste it. glad to see you come out the other side stronger my friend.
