I stopped buying nintendo products out of disgust for their bully tactics toward the smash and youtuber communities. While I'm one person I _do_ have conviction in my decision. If they stopped bullying and harassing their fans I would consider buying their products again.

Nintendo has gone to court multiple times on copyright with regards to emulation. They have won a lot, and they have lost some. They have settled most, because the people developing the emulation are more scared than Nintendo is.

As a huge Simpsons fan, I wish we got more Simpsons games. Hit and Run was the first and only Simpsons game that I had ever played. And it is still one of my favorite games to this day.
The last Simpsons game I played was The Simpsons Game on Xbox 360. It was a lot of fun. I got an achievement just for pressing the Start button. lol

Death Stranding is not Metal Gear Solid. The simple task of going from point A to point B has roadblocks. The fun of the game is how you overcome those roadblocks, be it an enemy or environment. The cherry on top is the asynchronous co-op where you can basically upvote helpful paths that people laid down before you, warn of dangers ahead, or even work together to build entire network of roads.

Games that require online connection to play? You mean any digital game? If I bought a digital game on let's say the PS3, and I boot it up today, it has to validate my license to play it before I can play, even if it is a single player game, that does not have any online features at all. An example of this is if I booted up Xenogears PS1 classic that I purchased on the PS3 store, I would be prompted to sign into the PSN to validate it if I have not played it in some time (months to years). So, do I really own Xenogears or do I own a license that must be checked periodically online to make sure it is valid?

The PS5 mess took way too long to sort out. A lot of people have only had their PS5 for a couple years at this point and just don't feel the need to upgrade yet. I think their biggest issue is still software though. People aren't going to buy a $700 piece of hardware just to play 3-4 year old games on it. If I were in charge of marketing at Sony, I would have done a Showcase in September and I would have went to every one of Sony's studios who is likely to have a release in the next 2 and a half years and said "give us something. A pre-rendered cut scene, a cinematic trailer, preferably real gameplay, just something we can show." I'd put together as many big reveals as I possibly could, along with what I could get from 3rd party, and revealed the PS5 Pro at the end of that Showcase. Basically showing people, "look at all this we have coming. How would you like to play it on the most powerful console we've ever made?" Revealing the Pro with old Last of Us and Horizon footage does not impress anyone and doesn't sell the console. That was Sony being cocky thinking that just because they're Sony, their fans would buy white gloves and ketchup popsicles. They were wrong. They're Sony because of their games. Without their games, no one cares.

i think morally if a company offers a way to play the game officially use that! but if its a dead platform and theres no other way to play that game emulation should not be a problemi own a ps3 and physical games. instead of buying another half dead ps3 i use RPCS3 to emulate using my own game disc. if there was any other way to play metal gear 4. i would do that. cause it would be easier
I follow pretty much the same "rule" for emulation. I ironically picked up the 3ds & Wii U 1s, shortly before their online services officiallly died. Emulation should be allowed for dead systems. Nintendo is the main company, trying to stop it.
I wouldn't go as far as to say it should be "allowed", but it is an unspoken rule among people to only emulate games not readily available to officially purchase.
Nintendo is not being "evil" in cracking down these emulation/rom sites, they're just wasting their time imo.

This was a factor for me. I have a backlog of games as is and time only on one or two days during the weekends. A longer game will take months to complete. All the more reason why some remasters of ps4 games isn't interesting

That is remotely not what the situation is about. This is why I think people are oversimplifying the copyright issues with Nintendo. People just assume shit about copyright and are quick to conclude when there needs to be more nuance.
I for one I’m glad I opted out of getting a ps5 pro and with luck managed to find a base ps5 brand new even though everywhere else I checked were making the push for the slim and digital only versions
I think we'll get Death Stranding 2 sometime between April- June 2025 and Ghost will be the holiday title. Death Stranding 2 got revealed months ago and we've seen a lot more of it so I think it will release first. Ghost is the bigger title which Sony will likely want when sales are highest between September-November. Both titles have their fan bases so GTA 6 won't damage their sales much if it ends up releasing near one of them.
Ghost of Yotei shouldn’t go for Holiday if Rockstars decides to release GTA6 in the holidays. Even if it has an established fanbase now, the bulk of many Sony first party games (and any game that sells 10M+ in general) will always be causal fans.
With the entire world discussing and playing GTA6, I doubt any random parent or significant others would think to buy their loved ones anything else (both games are rated M so that isn’t going to be an excuse).

No interest here in getting a PS5 Pro. I *would* have snapped up one of the anniversary edition bundles, but, Sony's lousy store front and artificially imposed limited number of units available made that not happen.
So when a console is scalped and regular folks can't get it, it's bad. But when you can readily get a new system without buying from scalpers, it's still bad?

I played TSTO the full 12 years. I stopped building my town and just went through the quests and just placed buildings and items wherever. @@Incompetent_Hero the PS5 wasn’t available because of a worldwide chip shortage. The PS4 Pro sold approximately 1/4 of every Sony console, but that was a much better price.. I will be curious to see if they can even come close to that figure this time because the PS4 Pro offered 4K.. My PS5 is already so good, I really don’t feel I need to upgrade this gen

I saw the Pro go out of stock in US. Then it restocked in a few minutes on Sony Direct.
Honestly I never cared for tapped out but you know what I don't mind putting it on my tablet or phone now
PS4 Pro didn't sell out either during it's launch window it sold 1.7 million units at $400 and the PS5 Pro is expected to sell 1.3 million at $700.

Because regardless of what anyone will say Sony and Microsoft releasing new generation hardware in the middle of Covid didn't help anyone. Not to mention many gaming publishers stopped working or slowed down there work do to at home working. This PS5 Pro isn't needed because I feel the next generation will start at the PS6 and next gen Xbox

@@ancientflamesIf bankers and investors weren't as money hungry as they are and SONY and Microsoft weren't lazy prioritizing the cloud and releasing their first-party catalog cross-platform with Windows, it would be, like, $400-$500 and have a disc drive by default. And a FVK load of games (be it $20-$30 A, $40 AA, or $60 AAA) to take advantage of the hardware.

Don't get me wrong, the games that Nintendo makes are (almost) spectacular, but at the same time, Nintendo's legal team are godawful.
All Sony talked about was a “bigger GPU” they said nothing about CPU or RAM. If all the PS5 pro has is a bigger GPU, then it’s really not much of an upgrade at all. I fully expect games like GTA VI to run at 30fps because big open worlds like that require a lot of CPU power and if they are still using the same one it wouldn’t justify buying the pro.
They want me to pay $700 for - pro. They gotta make it worth the value by adding the stand and especially They gotta throw in the disc drive. Thats the ultimate reason why i wont buy it.
With ps4 pro only pulling 15% of total sales its sounds about right for ps5 pro only pulling around 10%. I’m just glad Sony made enough stock for the people interested to get one. Still it would have been nice if they had a more 30th anniversary bundles.

I cannot wait for Death Stranding 2! The first game is my favorite video game of all time, and its message really helped me through a tough spot. It's not for everyone, but I'm so glad Kojima hasn't given up on this unique vision and gameplay style.

We need more regulation on what the word "ownership" means, and this law is a good first step. I imagine the rest of America and the EU will gradually follow suite on what is ownership and renting for digital video games, movies, shows, music, books, comics, ETC. I do think all of this eventually in due time will have a positive outcome, and will open more avenues to non-DRM ownership, especially on consoles.
All video games are licenses, ever since the Atari, the difference is that they couldn’t remove your game from the cartridge, there was no internet so they couldn’t send an update to remove your license, nowadays they can, even Nintendo switch physical games can become unusable, just remember what happens if a cartridge is cloned, Sony also can remove license of disks, what I’m trying to say is that the format war is lost, physical versions of modern games doesn’t guaranteed you that they can’t remove your game license, what we need to fight for isn’t the format, is for our rights as consumers. What they are trying to do in California (of all places!) is a good step forward, being clear that you don’t own the game, next step is defining consumer rights on digital licenses.

I think the PS5 Pro is maybe not as popular at Sony though it would be as if it's aimed at gaming enthusiasts, then IMHO most of those would prefer Physical and not having a disc drive for a 700 $/£ price tag, is turning people off, like myself, I lost interest the minute that was revealed. So include a drive at that price point and I'll buy it, maybe others would too. 🤷♂️🤔
With the ps5 pro why should I buy that for 700 when I could save a few hundred more, buy a pre built PC or build one myself? Why restrict myself to only what Sony deems acceptable and use what I consider is a terrible feeling controller.

i have a question about AC Shadows , all this DEI stuff asaide , it doen't make sense to me. Why put al tall black guy in a game about stealhing and melting with the masses after an assasination ( at least thats what i played in AC in the games i have played ) in a lad with typical smaller thinner people who al are asian? In this case they might be mostly japanese afaik. i dont get it tbh. and once more, its not about his ethnic background its about game logic and gameplay mechanics i cant think of a black man hiding between asians and not been found.

I know how many we're gonna have and how many disc drives we have. We're gonna get 15 per location and we have 9 disc drives left and 6 at the other location so the others will be on the back burner until we have more disc drives. Our suppliers have told us no more disc drives until next year.

I loved Tapped Out but over the years I got bored of it. There was nothing new and felt out of it. You can blame EA and Disney for shutting it down.
A game that's playable offline doesn't need the disclaimer, IMO. It's the always online ones that can suddenly just become unplayable.

The timing on Simpson tapped out was weird for me.
I just upgraded to the new iPhone after not having one since the 4S.
I looked at my apps and purchases from 2014 and one of them being tapped out. Decided to download it to see if my old progress was there….nope. Well I Deleted it from my iPhone and the next day this is in the news. I’m sour the money I spent on this did not keep my progress.
Every developer should give at least 10yrs of licensing for any game that should solve that "do i actually own the game" that said, prices for said games should be less.
Switch likely my last console with Nintendo. They are too far gone and going after emulation preservation just shows they dont care for gamers
Might cancel my PS5 pro preorder. Got hyped up trying for the 30th anniversary bundle, but will stick with the controllers for now.
I’m still going to try on getting Epic Mickey: Rebrushed and Metaphor ReFantazio in their full price. The former’s development would hope to keep the franchise alive, but word of mouth is needed during the fall season of gaming this quarter to make steady numbers.
These were preorder slots being sold, not consoles, these slots will turn into consoles later. When Sony sells through direct they don’t incur the costs of selling through other retailers. It’s more likely that once the original number of preorders they had slotted for direct sold out, they made the decision to move more units allocated to retail over to direct. This would have been part of the reason behind setting up preorders only on direct two weeks prior to retail preorders.
PS5 pro probably won’t be a high volume item but we can work on a boycott of sorts in hopes they drop the price even if it’s on some random promo sale. $499 no disc drive and I’d be interested

This is why I don't deal with the companies, only their products. I'm buying new Switch games and used older games at the same time and enjoying all of it.
The only way I'd upgrade is if I wanted to buy someone a console. I'd just upgrade and give them my old one.
Can't waste money on the same console per generation, especially since exlusives aren't a major selling point anymore.
Only hardcore Sony fanboys like N4G users are going to be the ones buying the PS5 Pro. Sony can't even get half their consumer base to upgrade to the PS5.
When it comes the ps5 pro I think most people are waiting and seeing reviews of the people that try out the console. DF have condemned how little of a improvement the system is compared to the standard ps5 which I don't think really helped sell it to customers that have sense.
Yeah I’m waiting to see if GameStop will have a trade deal towards the PS5 pro, if not then I’m fine with keeping my base PS5 console

Just got a mig switch cartridge dumper, what an excellent bit of kit, being able to play on PC is very nice.
If the games are older than 20 years they should just let it go… I do get why they are doing what they are doing. IP protection. I agree with copywrite strikes against current gen emulation.

I was able to order a PS5 Pro and Disc Drive on PS direct. GameStop also is taking Pre Orders. Scalpers will lose this round
UA-cam needs to be held legally and financially responsible for all abuse of their copyright claim system, plain and simple.
Also, the act of intentionally dragging out a court case just to drain your opponent's resources should in and of itself be illegal, and result in the case being thrown out with a neutral judgement or, if the targeted party had a strong argument, a ruling in favor of the targeted party, with the judge strongly advising that the party that tried dragging out the case not try to pursue the case any further or file an appeal.

I think Switch 2 is the main reason why Nintendo is more aggresive to emulation in the last years, because Switch 2 can be their oficial emulation machine, who knows, but is hilarious how their consoles are the most easy to jailbreak, they need to invest more in the security of the console.
What doesn’t appeal to me about the ps5 Pro is the lack of a disc drive at that price point. Very disappointing.
