Well I got to tell you that was a great video I've drove dirt bikes and Road bikes and dual sport and I wanted to try to find a video that would prove that 125 if it really could live up with a trail name and you hit the water you hit the mud you hit the dirt, down to the swamp back up the hill you did a fantastic job of proving what that little bike would go through
Good stuff -- thanks for sharing. I recently got mine after a four month wait after my deposit. It was the only one the dealership received in July, 2021, so I feel fortunate. I'm checking out the limits of both myself and of the Trail 125. It's all good clean fun !!! Thanks and best wishes from upstate South Carolina.
Nice video. Good to learn on a 125 for your future adventures. I am in UK and have a Honda Forza 125 which over the next year will travel around this country , and like you when the time is right, big bikes and the whole world!! I heard someone say recently ""It's not what you are riding, but where you are going". That did ring a bell for me.
Great comment! Yes, some day I'll be able to get more involved with a bigger bike that I can feel more comfortable going on the fast roads with, but the timing isn't right for me in life to spend that much time away from home. Great quote too!
You might consider getting a Silky Professional BIGBOY 2000 Folding Saw for these kinds of adventures. It's a professional arborist saw, not a homeowner's tool. I use one for maintaining rail trails and tree pruning. You would find it real handy for clearing many trail obstructions...
Well, It appears that the Trail 125 is a lot more capable than it looks. I want one! I think it would be a blast on old back roads. I just traded my Africa Twin for a Ryker 900 ACE and traded my KLX230 for the 300L Rally. I think the trail 125 would be a perfect addition. In case you're wondering, I'll be pushing 70 next year and the AT was getting a bit heavy moving it around.
I've seen tons of videos where big bikes struggle in terrain like that but the little Trail 125 just keeps motoring along. If you can't ride over it, pick it up and hoist it over it!
Nice ride Man, beautiful country. I’ve got a 2020 Monkey 125 and I’ve managed to hit 67mph. I was watching your speedo and you’re right it truly looks like it levels out just the way a governed engine would do. Strange 🤔. Good video!!
Just got the 2022 and I'm pretty sure the speedo might be off by +/- 2 mph as you know in Florida it's pretty flat and those hills were much bigger than the one I went down (The only one I found anyway) it was only a slight grade too maybe 3% down and I hit 61. Mind you I am only about 125 lb so.. thanks for the video
I can tell from watching the video that a smaller bike like this struggles off road. I didn't look like it had much power in trudging through the soft wet spots and I could imagine having to put in a lot more effort than on something like a traditional dual sport bike.
spot on bud, it's not the right bike for heavy stuff and while "it can do it", it will be done slow and leisurely. I'm an aggressive rider and like to power through stuff, trail riding on the Trail 125 would grow boring if it were my only trail machine (I've recently bought a CRF450RL and probably will never use the Trail 125 for heavy stuff again...)
Hello John, just purchased trail 125 see you have like a bracket I think you have your cup holder connected to it, you know where you got that at. Thanks friend and awesome videos
If you want a true speed reading, put a GPS on the bike. The reading would be accurate on the GPS. I have a 1981 trail 110 and the speedo says I can go about 47-48. Then I put my Garmin Zumo on it and I went 52 according to the GPS.
Good video bloke, just adjust your camera settings or understand them as it makes for better viewing- indoor/outdoor settings or white balance - happy days
Thanks so much but I just got the word that for 2021 Honda awarded 1 of these per dealership! ONE! So don't get too excited because it's pretty unlikely you'll be able to get one. :(
looks like a lot of fun, the only thing I would be worried about is that small gas tank. If you go to far and get lost for a bit, I think I would feel better with a much larger gas tank. 1.4 gal ( 5.3 liters) to me is way to small for any real adventures. I do not under stand why Honda likes small gas tanks on off road bikes, or most of the Jap bikes. I had to put a 20 liter tank on my DR650 witch is a great bike but at 74years would like something much liter for riding by my self, off road, tried the CRF 300 but again very small gas tank and just to tall for these old bones. Would of made a great video of me on a slight on even ground and I had a hard time getting off. was ready to get back on and just find another spot. Wish they came with the extra gas can like they use to. I did look at there accessories but did not see one, offered. That is one thing I love about the CB500X it has a 17.5 liter tank (4.6 gal) in fact that is what closed the deal for me getting one, hate having to worry about having to find gas stations. just want to ride and follow the front wheel. I want a very light off road bike, but with a good size gas tank. That is my only draw back about the Trail other than in Canada only comes in red, love the green. Was the same with the CB500X had to go with red, or they could not give me a date when I could get a green if at all.
Thanks for the ride along on your adventure, great content! You said you own a grom, monkey and this trail. It might be a hard question to answer but if you could only have one, which one would you keep?
So John...I posted 3 months ago hoping to buy a Trail 125 for my wife. As it turned out she decided to stick with her Ruckus but I wound up buying the 125 for myself. Just received it last week. So I am very curious as to where this ride took place. Which state forest. I also live on the NY/PA border, Elmira to be exact. I ride a lot of dirt roads both north and south of the border. If you're not too far maybe we could get together for a ride. I also own a dual sport and smaller adventure bike.
Hi Miguel, congrats on the new bike! This ride took place at Whitaker Swamp State Forest near Deposit NY. If you email me I can provide some more details. I’m only up there once a year during the summer, but that sounds like fun! There’s sooooo many perfect adventure riding roads up there
As soon as the video started I was like that’s gotta be Finger Lakes region…that type of road/road surface, the rolling hills and trees it just had the “vibe” of that area. I go up every summer too and gotta check that state forest out.
If you want to adventure ride get a Ural 2 wheel drive and put the boys in the side car, and if the wife wants to go she could sit on the back seat behind you. But the boys would love it.
I ride with a group of guys and we have some pretty muddy and sometimes fast trails. With a set up true off-road tires do you think the bike could handle trails like I have described (I know, not super detailed, but most of the trails are like what you rode on, just a couple of spots with a bigger hill and a bit more mud). And not only ride those trails but do so at a decent clip - say 20 mph or so? Thank you for the review. I am really loving the Trail 125 and feel like it could be a bike to handle what I do for trail riding and be used to run down to the store.
It can be done for sure, but I found the trail to be a little more difficult to ride fast through the trails on. It’s more of a pack mule than anything, slow and steady. The narrow tires might be the holdback, I haven’t tried knobbies on it to know the difference. What bikes are your friends riding?
How can you be in upstate NY when you are on the Pennsylvania border? That's the southern end and therefore downstate NY. I live in the actual upstate NY 30 minutes from Canada. I wish people would stop referring to everything outside of NYC as "upstate".
I can’t confirm what’s up or down man, it’s all relative to where you are. Growing up in Long Island, the entire rest of NY was all “upstate” to us 🤷🏼♂️
@@John5XR I hear you. It's kind of a pet peeve of people who live in Central or northern NY when we hear NYC people call Scarsdale or New Paltz "upstate" when literally 95% of the state is North of New Paltz. I move that we start referring to places geographically rather than egocentrically.
Nah, too close to a dirt bike without actually being a dirt bike. I’d rather have the utility of the trail as that’s primarily what I use it for. A trip like this for me comes only once every year
I wouldn't want to buy a used T-125 from a young guy who was constantly trying to see how fast it will go. It's a little 125 engine that will run for many years if it's not abused.

That's great! Have fun with the bike and be sure to test it's limits, I'm positive you'll be impressed by what it can do!
I love my Trail 125...and this is why you buy one.
Thanks for the ride along!

It certainly was! If I went another foot or two to the far side of the camera it would’ve been another foot deeper. Might try that side this year 😏

How much do you weigh? I weigh 260. I read somewhere that the weight capacity is 260-330. Thanks for the cool video. Very well done.
Thanks! I weigh 200lbs. These bikes can carry anything, you’ll be fine
Beautiful nature. Not getting eaten by bugs in the woods?
surprisingly not! it helps to be buzzing along on the Trail though!
Well, looks like this little bike could make pretty good shepherd bike in Mongolia.
good! how tall are you?
Did you have Off Road Tires on the Trail 125 ?
Well, Monkey and Grom, are getting 5speed manuals, and more compression ratio, overseas. But will we? Still riding my XT250.
Absolutely, and the Grom is already here in fact. The 22’ monkey should be arriving in a month or so as well
Nice. How do u like the feel of the triangular seat? Do u have other bikes with that shaped seat that allows u to feel comfortable? Thx
Seat on the Trail kinda sucks, the Monkey seat is the most comfy by far!
How's this do with torque going up hills / out of ditches? Do you need to help it any?
It will do it, but the clutch could be a little grabbier. My Honda CRF110 feels like it’s more connected than this bike honestly

Yea the way u bungeed thst camera to rack was not thorough lol
