If they would've added the dual range transmission I have on my 81 CT110 I would've bought this refresh model immediately. To me it's not a true trail bike until it gets that critical feature for deep off trail travel.
I had a 2022, It needs more power. Maybe a 4-valve head with 12hp or a 150cc motor. I live in a rural area where the speed limits are all 55mph. It can barely do that with no wind. Couple in some wind and at times it struggles to go above the high 40's. For me slowing down the traffic doesn't feel safe. I ended up trading mine for a Himalayan. I thought I would of kept it forever but that was my major issue. Also, the rear brake and shifter levers bend way too easily.
They could put up a poll of future color options for the next year. Limited colors usually denotes an easy way to figure out the year, but others may want a variety to choose from across all the mini bike line ups.
I keep saying that honda needs to take the rebel 300 motor and cram it into the minis as a 2nd engine option but keep the size of the bikes mini. Then youll have like a 276cc 6 speed and that in a grom or trail 125 would make them much more capable of actually getting me around town with the hills i live in. The problem is i think honda might not want to kill sales on the 125 because the 125 is still a good motor and its durable for what it is and its been out for a long time. Plus theres 300s they dont want to pull sales from by people cross shopping in the same brand. If you sell 3 versions of evety bike eacb one might sell less. I just think it sucks how a grom struggles to 60mph and it should be able to get to 60 faster and also maintain 60 up a hill. Or even faster i mean that sucker should rip. Yiu do a 125 cc for learners they upgrade to like the 250 grom or something idk. The 125 motor is good and shouldnt go away it gets the best mpg it is the best for just swinging out of your neighborhood for a snack at the convienience store or something. There is a novelty to the 125 grom or trail125 that makes them interesting to a wide variety of people. Doordashers etc. The rebel has 3 options. Im suprised all the minis dont have 2 options. The OG 125 for the ultimate fuel economy and learners and the nkvelty comedic factor, or a more powerful more realistic 250 from the rebel which they call a 300 eventhough its like a 276. So they could market it as a 250 but its even slightly more. Mahne they do something else idk but we know they have the revel 300 engine amd that thing js compact. But js jt compact enough to fit, the grom might meed a generational change like the rebel djd to account for different engine options. Or idk i really like innovation so to me its interesting to try to build the smallest most reliable bike possiible soemone 6 foot tall fits comfortably on that goes as fast as possible without being electric. Then You get an easy package to fit in the garage with a lot of power at a good price and a 125 grom is not that a trail 125 is not that. They are small but slow. I think 250cc version js the way to fill the need. Like how they have 3 versions with the rebel but idk the minis maybe a 125 and 250 version? Imagine a parrallel twin grom tho 270 degree crank. Parks next to a 125 grom and is clearly on a steroid injection program. Idk what will actually happen i just want to be good. I hate the aspects of bikes that make them all identical in certain ways. I really enjoy when something is unique and peculiar in a way that is pleasent. So thats why the trail 125 is appealing but 125cc is rough if i want to leave my small town to thr small town next door where the work is at. Speed limit 55 everyone does 60 and theyll pass you while you do 60 uphill so trail grom 125 motor really isnt safe on those roads always. I like the series harley cancelled when they lost their minds, there was a sporters series and you could get an 883cc or a 1200cc. the 48 the 72. They were able to make 1 bike 4 bikes. To me groms are too disposable but id still buy one. I like the extra reliablity of a larger engine that would help. The 125 is great for the trail the nkvelty running tho the gas station for snacks, but a 250 isnt far behund and a from 125 for mpg. And in like a trail 125 if it was a 250 would. Cross alaska faster etc. Safer on faster roads. The 125 you take the longer flatter side road because speed limit is lower and it keeps me from wanting to take the bike out because maybe i just want to quickly go to walmart for a few things and back and the speed lomit 60mph up a hill. The trail 125 i will buy one but to me its partially more like an excersize in good asthetics i am an art guy as much as a motorcycle guy so i like it to look good sitting there and a trial 125 does. But then im like shoot that looks good let me take it to walmart and i have to take the back road slower the trip takes twice as long each way and then im like yo 70mpg in a 250 woulda been better than 110 but a 15 minute drive turned into 25. If im not leaving my small town a 250 is not needed but i like to explore my whole county and the one north of me as theyre the two closest civilizations and between them its 75mph and just between my town and the two others you have to be able to get up to 60 and 65. So its hard to spend 4k on a bike that struggles to get me out of town when a 5k used accord with 200k miles can take me across the country. But i cant take an accord down a single track trail made by people on 125 250cc 450 cc dirtbikes. So i like the 125 its just if they sold a 250 trail id try to get both 😂 i want to see honda use the grom as a plaftorm you can get a super efficient one or one thats just questionably fast. I feel so bad for these guys building touring rigs from trail 125s and jts like yo if im going to the top of alaska if honda sold a trail 125 250 id take the bigger one. They modify the 125 engine for power and its lifespan is 50k miles stock if you maintain it perfectly. So they make it unreliable fast when the motor coulda just been bigger stock. To some degree i like small motorcycles and big ones so its hard for me to say to cancel the 125 and make them all 250s because i wouldnt mind a grom or trail 125 or 250 both. Or just rediculous fun stuff like a tripple cylinder grom thats got 125cc cylinders its like this ugly duckling that has 375cc but what matters is the power to weight ratio. Idk turbo it from the factory, something. Something. Something. No way you fit 3 cylinders in a grom but i mean what if the 1 was bigger or you do 2 small ones idk. to keep the light alive the souls living, you need uniqueness and peculiarity. The trail has a lot already i just wonder if you can scale it up like the rebel, 125 250 and 500 for real tourin idk. A 250 trail would outnit out there doing light trail dirtbike type stuff. A 250 dirtbike is right in the pocket for the trail you hage to build momentum with it to get up a hill so a trail 125 its worse you end up stopping halfway up and pushing it up. If it was a 250 using the rebel 300 engine thats a 6 speed it can do like 60 stock 65 idk. I got the need for speed but i hate all electrics. I think motorcycles work well as straight gasoline motors
@@mojaveclimber I had a TW200, it could cruise along at 55-60 but that's about it. It was too short coupled even for me at 5'9"! I always thought Yamaha should add a couple inches to the wheelbase and put the XT225 engine in it. Mr. Mojaveclimber, are you a rockclimber somewhere in the Mojave Desert? There is a pretty active climbing scene up in Ridgecrest if you are interested.
I have a 2022 honda trail. I have over 2000 miles since feb 2023. I changed the exhaust. Im routinely able to run 55+. If it runs well every time. This unit is a pleasure to drive. Solid build, simple maintenance. compliments are common when out on the road. There are so many people the had older versions. I love hearing their stories.
Watching this makes me want to get my 1970 model back on the road. Does the new model have the high- low selector. Really came in handy when on some of the steeper climbs.
I've had one (2023) for a bit now and just did my first oil change at 620 miles. I love this bike, truth be told I sold a 2021 crf300L for this bike. I simply did not ride the 300 like it was designed for so I figured it could go to a more deserved home. This CT however is a dream, I used to own a Sachs madass125 and fell in love with small bikes. I really is true. Better to go fast on a small bike then slow on a large bike. Im over the moon with Honda's Ct125 recreation and so happy the brought this to market.
It's wild how long it's taken since this new generation of the CT was launched, for it to finally end up here in the US! Heck yeah, big congrats on getting an order in for one soon! Which color are you going with? ...oh wait, that's an easy one lol! Well, I'm kind of assuming you're in the US on that joke so it may not "hit" if you're in one of the few corners around the world that actually have an option - unlike us here in the states. Thank you! I've been trying my best to improve these videos and in the end, they end up taking a LOT more time to put together, so I really appreciate the kind words and you taking the time to not only watch but to jump in the conversation too ;) Also, best of luck with the upcoming purchase - you're going to love it! Fingers crossed you won't have to wait too long and you find a nice dealership to do business with as that can zap the fun out of the process real quick.
This is a wonderful bike. I had the 2022 but had to sell it for financial reasons. For me it was my first and only bike, my only wish was that it had a slightly higher displacement in the 250-300cc range so that I could take it on short bursts on the highway. Would make a fantastic 2nd bike for hitting the local trails, campsites, grocery runs, or even just bopping around the neighborhood.
I rode Trail 90s when I was young. The heel/toe shifter is because in the woods and under water a lot of times you can't or don't want to put your foot under the shifter for fear of getting it stuck or hitting something. This way you can always push down from above for safety. Thanks!
They're still neat. There was thousands of them here in New Zealand. Most farmers had them. Them or the Yamaha AG. The Honda last longer being 4 stroke. Super reliable 👏 😊 Cheers from New Zealand 🇳🇿
Kevin, I'm in the Philippines and just bought a Honda XRM 125 fi. It looks like the same bike that you reviewed here. The XRM is built primarily for the Philippines and is now being sold in New Zealand. It seems that these bikes are pretty much the same, the big difference is that Filipinos don't accessorize their bikes. I had it for only a week and am still getting comfortable with it. So far I'm very happy.
I watched a great UA-cam series by C90 Adventure, where he rides from Alaska to Argentina and it got me thinking of a super cub. But I live in a mountain town so there are no super cubs but I kept seeing CT instead. Found out the T just meant trail and fit my needs better. It reminded me of one of the episodes from C90 Adventure when he gets some modifications done to his bike in Colombia, where he pretty much turned his cub into a CT, and said “I should have done this months ago” as he squealed with glee
4000$ for a small 125cc motorcycle is a bit unreasonable. I'm from India, back in 2020 i got my first motorcycle Yamaha FZ v3 150cc, it has similar ergonomics of a mt 03 and i only paid $1600.
Another great video, Kevin! I have a 2019 Monkey. I wish Honda would give all these new mini bikes a lower geared 1st gear. It would make taking them off-road so much more fun. Come on Honda, we want to go off-road!
the 2022+ monkey and grom did get a lower 1st gear, its not a huge difference, but its noticeable compared to the early monkeys. Also has more top end power.
Got lucky and was able to get the new CT125 back in May. With just over 100 miles, compared with my '22 Grom I generally prefer the feel of the CT125's ride and handling. It's also a more practical bike being fun and capable of carrying a lot, a quick run to the store, around a campsite, even just tooling around the neighborhood, etc. Lots of accessories to customize to your desire. I like the center stand which makes for easy maintenance. Having a kick-start and an electric start is a good idea, so is the 'snorkel' intake and high exhaust. Many would call this a great bike for preppers. So what would I change? I prefer the Grom's instrument cluster which is easier to read and provides more info. The Grom is faster; its manual 5-speed helps that. Since currently there are no options for this bike, I'll suggest one that I believe many would like: offer a 5-speed with clutch! This would fit well with the CT125's character and make it quicker. Overall another great little bike from Honda!
Why not convert it your self into a full manual transmission, I dont think it would be that difficult to swap parts after all its the same engine as the grom.
Awesome bike. I own a Monkey and I love it. This CT125 feels very practical and looks fantastic. The only problem is that it is not available in Europe.
Should come from the factory with slightly larger Trials type tires and a Hi/Lo range. Otherwise really enjoyable bike and effortless fun to ride. PS: Your videos are flat fun to watch, thank you.
I own one and I really dont miss the hi/lo range as the 125cc does have alot more power than my old 90. 1st is about perfect gear for slow rocks and stuff.
I went with my bf yesterday to get this same bike. He’s been so happy ever since getting it. I wanted to learn more about the bike and maybe learn how to ride it now lol.
Fantastic video! I just picked up mine last week and can’t put it down. Really like the looks of those green bags. Where can I find them? Thanks again for an awesome overview.
Thanks for the video! I love the mini-motos. - My beef is this: For me to ride one anywhere but the nicest of flat trails, the CT needs a low range again. I'd also gladly pay a bit extra for a heavy duty suspension option. I live in a very mountainous area, and I'm *NOT* light.
For several months now, I've been contemplating getting a Trail 125, though the Monkey has also grabbed my interest, except for the red plaid seat which is close to $500.. if like me you simply can't stand plaid on anything but a table top or maybe pajama bottoms. Of course there are gorgeous seat covers available from Cheeky Seats if I went the route of the Monkey. As an owner of a very low mileage 2009 KLR 650, I do want to ride off road more safely since as a new 70 year old adventurer, there is no room for me to break or damage my body without long term consequences. And, as much as I totally love my 2021 PCX150, I think having a bike simply intended to explore the beaten path would be quite enjoyable., though the XR150 is far less expensive, just simply not as cool looking. Decisions...decisions. This video has probably pushed me closer to making the purchase, having yesterday sat for the first time on the new 2023 Pearl Green Trail. In the future, I may be selling my KLR, but it still has plenty of adventure in it, and this September will be riding with a friend on his VStrom 650 up to Maine from North Jersey for some light offroad camping experiences. Thanks for another outstanding review! I've been following your channel for years!
Like you said, I think you may find the - not as cool - XR150 a lot more practical, i.e. ground clearance, suspension travel, conventional pattern (one down, 4 up) 5-speed gearbox with a clutch, 12 litre fuel tank, 19" front wheel, a lot more akin to your KLR but a lot easier to handle in the rough stuff. My 2015 model (here in South Africa) hasn't missed a beat after 20000km.
Yeah buddy, that's a difficult one between the Monkey and Trail for sure! I, on the other hand actually like the red plaid seat lol! It's definitely one of those love or hate things though with it being a little on the "loud" side when compared to the rest of the bike, so I can 100% understand why you and many others don't care for it. One other downfall to the Monkey in my opinion, if you want to call it that, is that the fuel tank is almost $600. Yes, we don't plan on dropping them but if you're wanting to venture off-road, to which it sounds like you want to, a simple drop could turn out to be rather expensive when compared to the others. Just something to keep in mind though ;) Cool to hear you're enjoying that PCX! Waaaay too many people knock those things without giving them a try because scooters aren't "cool" but 99% of the people I've dealt with over the years, change their tune real quick when they give them a try. It's the same story with these mini bikes too though, so many people are "why would you buy a 125?" and then they give it a whirl and see how much you can have. Yes, sir. You've definitely got to consider the XR150L if you're looking at a Trail but like you said, the Trail is lightyears ahead when it comes to cool points. Plus, the semi-auto can spoil you real quick when you're just tooling around but is it worth $1,000 more? That's the difficult question. If you care about overall build quality and "feel", I think you're going to lean towards the Trail as the XR is without a doubt - built to a budget and it's evident when you get up close to the bike and really start checking out the details. I'm not knocking it though as for $3,000 - it's hard to beat but one glance at those ugly frame welds and you'll be questioning whether or not it's a Honda lol. Unless the unit I got was one of the worst so-to-say but take that with a grain of salt as I'm picky when it comes to that stuff and like Dave said, there's been a lot of guys around the world pushing these bikes and they've shown to be a super reliable platform. I've rambled on long enough to put you to sleep though so I'll shut up now lol! I can't say thank you enough for the kind words and for hopping on board to become a member to help support future content. It's been a struggle trying to make this sustainable but one way or another, we're going to make this work! Thank you again, I really appreciate you... Take care and enjoy your trip this September on the KLR ;)
@@HondaProKevin Thanks for your take on all my options, as it seems that dealerships really need to update their websites and inform the buying public that the bikes they're featuring simply don't exist! I called the dealership I was hoping to purchase from as well as 3 others in the tri state area, and though they show the Trail 125 on their websites, they're all accounted for or already sold. And since this was just going to be a frivolous purchase, I can wait or consider something else. It's not like I don't have choices. Storage is more a concern if I want to squeeze another bike into my fleet. I have even considered the Amigo clone of the CT 70/125 as they're available for under $1500 at a local dealer in SW Jersey. Thanks again for your outstanding informative videos! Consider me a loyal follower!
I've got to have one of these before I die. I'm all about some practicality that is about as practical as it gets and it's quite the looker. If I saw a woman driving one she would have to be mine!
Honda has always been a leader in innovation. I have been riding 60+ years. Owned about every brand of bikes made. Except Harley. Just didn't have the funds to buy one. Honda is the most reliable of the bunch. I am a retired Motorcycle mechanic.

I already planned on picking one of these up within the next year or so, but this was very informative, and much more detailed than a lot of reviews. Thanks!
I purchased my Trail125 in January 21. I then adorned it with tons of accessories to celebrate. Now they come out with this new & improved version. Me in 2021 🥳... Me now as I watch the neighbor ride by on his GI Joe green Trail125 with its fancy oil filter 😒.
Oh wow, you're one of the lucky few to get your hands on one of these unicorns that early as shortly before that is when the rona mess started to really throw a wrench in things. lol you hit the nail on the head though with how soooo many of us feel once we get a new toy, throw all kinds of money at it and then BAM - that new new shiny one gets released haha! On a positive note though (struggling to find one lol), is that if you wanted to have a horsepower battle with your neighbor - you win as the OG can accept larger big bore kits than the new engine! But yeah, other than that - he wins lol ;) Appreciate ya watching and jumping in the conversation too bud! Stay safe out there and enjoy that CT.
@@HondaProKevin I waited 8 months for it. As soon as I saw it at the Tokyo Motor Show I started bugging my dealership. I shouldn't gripe about the color or filter I know. Worse things in the world. I do think Honda putting such effort into their mini moto line up is next level cool though. Like you said, one of each would be amazing. Would be like having your own amusement park hopping on each of them. You put out great videos 📹 👏 Thanks
Love the retro green looking color. Seems like these are so hard to find and dealerships rarely have many in stock. Must be because it takes time to compile that extensive tool kit they come in the build out process. The CT 125 is intriguing. But I'm still hopeful the Dax shows up on our soil one day. Makes me wonder though, if and when the Dax shows up, will they be just as under ordered, scarcely in stock and hard to find as the CT 125 is? Thanks for sharing. Always enjoy your segments.
Same here bud! I'm not a huge fan of it on the Rebel 500 as it's just too much green on the tank with nothing to break it up a bit, like with the CT125 / CB500X and on these bikes - I love it. Hahahaha right! That super extensive tool kit paired up with the exclusive to the CT squared turn signals, have to be what's been slowing production down on these things lol! Fingers crossed they get a handle on things soon as the CT has been like a unicorn to find in dealerships, ever since they launched the thing 3 years ago. It's not the under ordering from dealers that's causing their scarcity though. It's Honda's production issues that have been lingering on and on from the rona mess, paired up with new emissions standards in a few key countries as well as parts suppliers issues that have really thrown a kink in things. Most dealers are ordering as many as American Honda will let them because these things will sell quickly, unlike a lot of models that may hang around on the showroom floors for months before turning. When Honda doesn't give them an option on their MROP to order them or cuts their allotment numbers down to practically nothing, they're stuck. Long story short, it's a mess lol! We need some sort of normalcy soon though as a lot of dealers are still struggling to this day to get inventory. Crazy times for sure! Here's to hoping they get some of it sorted out before the Dax is released here in the USA though, otherwise it's going to be the same mess we've been dealing with... Let's all cross our fingers together lol! Thank you for the kind words, I really appreciate it... and thank you for watching and jumping in the conversation too, means a lot as I try to find some way to make all of this sustainable, so I can continue bringing you guys Honda content ;)
@@HondaProKevin I was making the same comments about last year's model, and as soon as I gave up on finding one and settled on a Navi, wouldn't you know it? A week later the dealer had both a Super Cub and a CT125...
lol NOOOOO, don't do that! BUT, if you feel the need to - let me send out a disclaimer first lol! I do need to work on that though, I've been noticing more and more lately that I have a lot of words I fall back on waaaay too often and "but" is definitely one of the worst for me. Appreciate ya watching ;)
Same here! I'm not the biggest fan of this color on the Rebel as it doesn't have anything to break the green up but on this Trail and the CB500X - I like it. Appreciate ya watching and jumping in the conversation too ;)
Thanks a million for not only watching but for the kind words too bud! It's always nice to see when people find a bit of humor in there as I've been getting a few comments today, that I should quit trying to be funny and just stick to info on the bike etc. You can't please everyone though so it's a fine line to walk.
76 years old and looking for something to get around town on thats cheap and can keep up with local traffice. The ruckus didn't do it. I like this a lot if available in BC. If I can still travel outside of town this would definitely be it.
Great video. While one colour for USA buyers is shortsighted of Honda, it's better than the choice available in the UK which is unofficial import or nothing. Yet, the UK sells the 125cc Grom, DAX, Monkey and SuperCub. Honda needs to do better.
Thank you... I put a lot of time into these and keep trying to improve upon them, from where we started, so I really appreciate the kind words! You're not wrong there bud! I do complain a lot about colors but heck, at least we even get the thing. If I were a betting man though, now that the CT has the latest engine that the others have to meet the most recent emissions standards - we'll see them brought into the UK. And once they do that, they need to hurry up and start shipping the flipping Dax over here because we're tired of waiting lol! Thanks for watching and jumping in the conversation too, much appreciated ;)
I think it’s a great motorcycle if you ride it within it’s intended use. After talking with a lot of riders at the Scooter Cannonball, Honda needs an efficient but capable scooter. Water cooled 350cc, twin cylinder with 270° firing, DCT, kinda the same rear drive like the Burgman 650 had, 4.0gal fuel capacity and cruise control.
One of the main reasons I would buy a trail 125 is to have a small engine with a relatively large fuel tank to possess a worry-free range far from support infrastructure. That standard teensy gas tank does not inspire confidence, and I'll bet an extra tank would add considerable cost, and take up storage which would otherwise be available if the standard tank was bigger. (My taste, however, does run to huge gas tanks. There's never enough fuel capacity for me.) I am also a bit suspicious about a 4-speed being adequate for an off-road 125.
@@garyreed6310 If it meets your needs, more power to you. But we're talking about confidence and peace of mind--it's nice to have more than you need--however much it takes to put your mind at ease--when you're in the middle of nowhere.
@@carlrutledge3096 Um-hmm. Having a strapped-on gas tank upsetting the balance of the bike, using on rough off-road trails, then unstrapping it and refueling in the woods, would seem to be less confidence-inspiring than having a big gas tank to start with. But ya gotta do what ya gotta do. There are also areas which look askance at packed-on fuel tanks. It is far more confidence-inspiring to the rider and to others to have an original or professionally--added fuel tank to the bike. If strapping on a gas tank has to be done, it has to be done--but it isn't "just" done. (But the Boy Scout juice does help with starting campfires.)
I had original 1979 CT Trail 90 and an '84 Trail 110. Loved that 110! Bring back that dual speed transfer case tranny they had back then and I'd buy this new one up in a heart beat. Even a 5-speed would be nice .
Heck yeah, that's what is so cool about these retro styled minis - definitely brings back some memories for a LOT of people! Plus it doesn't hurt that these smaller bikes are a hoot to rip around on, just like back in the day. Appreciate ya watching and jumping in the conversation too ;)
4000$ for a small 125cc motorcycle is a bit unreasonable. I'm from India, back in 2020 i got my first motorcycle Yamaha FZ v3 150cc, it has similar ergonomics of a mt 03 and i only paid $1600.
Honda, I have been Honda, Since 1978. We love who grew up with you kinda feel you forgot about us. Please make a 200cc That will carry us big guys around comfortably at 55-60mph. Ty for decades of fun Honda
I love the new smaller bikes from Honda. In fact, I just so happened to stop by our Honda power sports center a few weeks ago. Looking around and asked one of the guys on the floor where all the Monkeys, Gnoms, trail bikes, and scooters were. He says, " What you see is is what you get". I said I want to buy one right now. Cash. He says, doesn't matter, we don't have any and cannot order any. WELL WOOP DEE DOO, BUDDY. SEE YAAA.!!!!! I will gladly shop elsewhere . I never heard that you caint place an order for something from the factory. I am willing to prepay up front too.
I really think these bikes are perfect in Asia. Where you mostly get around doing mid distance, travel at most. However, in the US where you often drive on a highway for 30 minutes to an hour, these things are woefully underpowered. Having said that under specific circumstances where you only travel 20 to 40 minutes going about 30 to 40 mph it’s perfect
They do sell them in asia, but they are strictly luxury toy bike as they cost 2.5x the prices of similar displacement cubs and mopeds sold by honda themselves that are developed for and manufactured in southeast asia
I got a trail 125 2023 just got it last month already done 1100 miles about half in gravel, mud, sand. I’ll probably have about 5000 by the end of summer in glorious Central Florida weather. So to answer the question, first none of the Honda accessories are available in US. On the actual CT the tires could be better as dual sport a more powerful headlight softer seat and wider pegs and the chain I done 3 adjustments already. When I am standing on the pegs my boot pushes on the kick start.
I love my new Green 2023 Honda Trail 125! It’s such a fun and nimble motorcycle! Like so many people, I wish it had a little bigger engine just so you’re not lagging on some hills. I know it’s not meant for going really fast, but it can definitely use a little extra power. Nevertheless, it’s an amazing mini moto and definitely serves its purpose!
I agree. Very versatile and checks most all of the boxes. Certainly not for highway use but even on secondary roads with hills, maintaining even 40 MPH can be a challenge. I'd really like to see an option for a 5-speed manual transmission, possibly with a 150cc engine. I'd then buy another!
I've never seriously considered any type of motorcycle until I saw this thing. My commute to work is mostly back roads, about 10 minutes. This would be great.
@@HondaProKevin yep. 😁. I Asked the salesman to write the prices down on a business card for me. Thats what he wrote...thats the ride away price... When I said how do they justify the price of the ct..he shook his and said I dont know, and laughed. 🤔
Tubeless tires. Normal toe shift option. Windscreens you don't have to send to Taiwan for. Engine large enough to keep up with traffic accelerating from a stoplight. Lower seat, and finally, more rake -- the thing's squirrelly as hell.
I own a 2022 CT125 in the green, and love it. What I would wish for is a higher top speed 65m/h 110km/h, achieved through gearing and a 5th gear for example.
Interesting little bike. Reminds me of the 1965 Honda 90 I had (until it threw the connecting rod through the block) back in the early '70's. I was in my early teens and had decided to add some STP oil additive to the oil and I think that stuff made the oil too thick causing the failure, pretty rare for a Honda to throw a rod.
STP was invented by Andy Granitelli to make his oil not break down and loose film strength when running the Indy 500. It was not a good choice for a motorcycle engine. WAY too thick. Listen to the engineers who wrote the owners manual.
The first bike I learned to ride was a Honda Trail bike... Seemed like It had a Clutch . . This Seems a good Choice now as my last Bike ! Thank You Jesus!
Editing that one right now bud and should be ready to go live this Sunday morning ;) It should've already been posted but it was delayed a bit due to traveling for some upcoming videos and the Oklahoma trip where Honda sent me out to rip in the new Talon and some other shenanigans. Hopefully you enjoy the 4 wheeled videos as well, been trying to mix them in a bit here and there but sadly they don't do as well when it comes to views. I could ramble on lol but I'll shut up. Thank you for the kind words and support, I really appreciate it...
If I thought it was actually a possibility to buy one for $3,895 plus tax, I’d do it in a heartbeat. But no dealer will ever let that happen. By the time they add on destination charges, extended warranty, and probably a dozen more junk fees that’s called backend profits, the out the door price is going to be way over $5,000. There goes your chance for a bargain.
If only it really was 3999. Tried to purchase one last year and gave up after the third dealer tried adding "market adjustments" along with other fees nearly doubling Hondas listed price. The entire dealership model needs to be "revisited".
My local (central Pennsylvania) dealer has four 2024 models (yellow- but a really cool yellow!). MSRP $4,099. Out the door price today is $5,050 (tax, title, delivery and setup).
I wrote honda a few years back and wanted a 280 cc model. But I think the liability would be a issue . Able to carry a passenger. I have 3500 miles on my 2021 and granny gear is not low enough. I almost had to dump it in some soft sand and high gear could be higher. A 5 speed would be ideal ! Love it ! 5500 $
Thanks for this comparison. I decided instead of waiting for the 2023 version to arrive to buy a used 2022 and save some $$$. The upgrades are nice but I am not the kind of rider who will probably notice the difference all that much. But I will notice the extra cash in my pocket by not paying dealer fees and what have you. They add another $1000 to the price, and then you have to think about add-ons. Let's hope that works out.
The #1 improvement I would love to see for the Honda CT125 is a Seat Height adjustment. Find a way to adjust the seat height for taller riders so they aren't so cramped riding the bike.
Love this bike. I like the color displacement and all the up grades. Heat shield. Everything they did. I had a 74 about 4 years back. Had the antique plate n it. Rode it quite a bit. Great around town in a tourist town.

If they would've added the dual range transmission I have on my 81 CT110 I would've bought this refresh model immediately. To me it's not a true trail bike until it gets that critical feature for deep off trail travel.
BS -- where can you find a '23 for under $4K... our dealers here in SoCal are jacking the sticker price of $3,995 to well over $6K -- highway robbery.

Really wish we could get it in a 200 with a 5 speed. 65 mph, comfortably, would sure be nice. I don’t think that’s to much to ask for
I keep saying that honda needs to take the rebel 300 motor and cram it into the minis as a 2nd engine option but keep the size of the bikes mini.

Thanks!
And if you ride with sandals or flip flops as they do in many countries and upshifting with that type of footwear makes upshifting painful.
I just wish they were more available. Two things I would like to see is the transmission switch and the handlebar offset.
Yea where is that low gear switch!
absolutly (forgive me spelling) i want the handle bar sideways lever
@@jeffcharest2118 "Absolutely". Don't most computers have spell check?
You'll have to find a CT 90, the 125 has neither.
I have a yellow one. Probably my favourite bike out of all the bikes I ever owner.
I've always wanted the Super Cub and didn't care for the Trail, but this video has me looking at the Trail in another light! I like them!
I was quoted $6000 out the door last year. I bought a used Grom and Drz400s instead. I'm happy.

Conversion costs money. Fitment might be an issue, too.
There is never gonna be a manual CT ever lol, a BBK with bigger sprocket is all you need .
@@meuhey mine will,...if Honda decides to sell me one in Europe.
The auto clutch is ideal for crawling slowly on rocks or other difficult terrain. A manual clutch would burn up faster in such conditions.
After a lifetime of riding, I gave it up about 5 years ago. I'm not gonna lie, this little bike makes me want one.
Every dealer wanted $7500.00 for this... not worth it
Its not even worth 4. I think in a healthy economy its a 3750 unit. K

Es that's so sad 😢
Nice, I think that Honda should bring back the duel range transmission.

Should come from the factory with slightly larger Trials type tires and a Hi/Lo range. Otherwise really enjoyable bike and effortless fun to ride. PS: Your videos are flat fun to watch, thank you.
Add back the Hi/Lo range and I'd be at the dealer tomorrow
True. Electronic select high/low range would be so fun
This! Hi/low tranny select and knobby tires ... after all, they do call it a "trail!"
I own one and I really dont miss the hi/lo range as the 125cc does have alot more power than my old 90. 1st is about perfect gear for slow rocks and stuff.
I see these little bikes, and people setting them up for touring, and can't stop the insane giggling..it's so cute! Props to yall..
I had a 64 Trail 90 back in 66. I rode it street and trail. I abused it like a teenager will. It was simple and reliable.
I agree that it needs the low range. My 86 CT 110 has it and it’s really needed for off road hills and the technical sections.
I’m going with a used ct110 to get the low range. Very needed here in my mountains too!
🤔
Just something to keep in mind though ;)
Cool to hear you're enjoying that PCX!
😎 Rock on Sir
Instantly fell in love with Honda Trail
What is that at :11 ?
It's a Trail 125, here's my video on that one: ua-cam.com/video/QXjLlnfp51k/v-deo.html
I've got to have one of these before I die. I'm all about some practicality that is about as practical as it gets and it's quite the looker. If I saw a woman driving one she would have to be mine!
My first motorcycle was a 1973 Honda CT 70. Loved that little bike.

Thanks!
I've had around a dozen Trail 90's / 110's over the years.
The CT125 looks like a hoot!
Really well done, great funny clips. . Good work man!
But yeah, other than that - he wins lol ;)
Appreciate ya watching and jumping in the conversation too bud!
I had a Honda 50 in 1963. Great little machine
Great vid, more options as standard!!!! Uk. Brilliant channel.
That editing is 👌👌
Appreciate ya bud ;)
I've been trying my best to improve from where we were not too long ago, so thank you...
Did you actually say, "Honda pays attention to these videos"? I laughed so hard, I almost pee'd myself!
New drinking game. Take a drink every time Kevin says “but”
lol NOOOOO, don't do that!
BUT, if you feel the need to - let me send out a disclaimer first lol!
I do need to work on that though, I've been noticing more and more lately that I have a lot of words I fall back on waaaay too often and "but" is definitely one of the worst for me.
Appreciate ya watching ;)
CT125 is a Super Classic with no rivals. Upgraded now and more useful than ever before.
Always loved it.
Bought brand new one in 1968
Love the color
Same here! I'm not the biggest fan of this color on the Rebel as it doesn't have anything to break the green up but on this Trail and the CB500X - I like it.
Appreciate ya watching and jumping in the conversation too ;)
Very nice but not available here in the UK.
Same in Australia, too.
Very informative and very funny review I love it!😊😊😊👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks a million for not only watching but for the kind words too bud!
It's always nice to see when people find a bit of humor in there as I've been getting a few comments today, that I should quit trying to be funny and just stick to info on the bike etc. You can't please everyone though so it's a fine line to walk.
great video KevinI had a orange ct90walked it home and got it runningI am very happy that they continue to manufacture thatkeep up the good work
76 years old and looking for something to get around town on thats cheap and can keep up with local traffice. The ruckus didn't do it. I like this a lot if available in BC. If I can still travel outside of town this would definitely be it.
Would be nice if they released them in Europe. I am waiting for it since they announced it 3 years ago
Thanks for watching and jumping in the conversation too, much appreciated ;)
with abs the bike can be now
I think it’s a great motorcycle if you ride it within it’s intended use.
There's never enough fuel capacity for me.) I am also a bit suspicious about a 4-speed being adequate for an off-road 125.
mine gets 106 mpg so it goes pretty far, and has a gage too.
@@garyreed6310 If it meets your needs, more power to you. But we're talking about confidence and peace of mind--it's nice to have more than you need--however much it takes to put your mind at ease--when you're in the middle of nowhere.
Just strap on a one gallon container of gas and pour it in if you run out.
Very nice 👌 Honda trail ct125!
I use to own Honda CT90 1974 when I was younger!😊
Heck yeah, that's what is so cool about these retro styled minis - definitely brings back some memories for a LOT of people! Plus it doesn't hurt that these smaller bikes are a hoot to rip around on, just like back in the day.
Appreciate ya watching and jumping in the conversation too ;)
so ... only 20kg on the rack! but if changed to a seat can load a full weight of person ???
different laws in western countries, gotta avoid lawsuits yknow
4000$ for a small 125cc motorcycle is a bit unreasonable. I'm from India, back in 2020 i got my first motorcycle Yamaha FZ v3 150cc, it has similar ergonomics of a mt 03 and i only paid $1600.
Absolutely right, you have so many options, if you are willing to pay $4.000. That juice isn't worth the squeeze.
they are actually 2500US in the Asian market
I want one so bad. They look like so much fun!
I'll buy this and next year it will become the CT150...lol. Well done video Kevin, ride safe.
theyd have to do that to all their minimotos lineup forget it.
Honda,
I have been Honda,
Since 1978.
We love who grew up with you kinda feel you forgot about us.
Please make a 200cc
That will carry us big guys around comfortably at 55-60mph.
That was fun and funny as hell! 😂
the moment i saw this bike it reminded me of my childhood moped i had it was called Tomos Automatic 1986, it was a super fun little thing
@@fredjoel8113definitely!!!
I've never seriously considered any type of motorcycle until I saw this thing. My commute to work is mostly back roads, about 10 minutes. This would be great.
Commuting? Why not buy a tu250 for half the price..
Here in South Australia the CT125 is $8233 and the Kawasaki Ninja 400 KRT is $8544. I think Honda is taking the piss. 😂🎉🎉
LOL HOLY CRAP! That is absolutely insane and as much of a Honda fanboy as I am, gimme that Kawi!
It needs to have a hi-low range box like the old trail 90 had to be a viable on off road motorcycle.
@jaywintersit2483 wet clutches are not a fan of it either
Good info. Had one back in the 70's. Hard to get one around here in Vermont. Thanks.
The first bike I learned to ride was a Honda Trail bike...
Seemed like It had a Clutch .
.
This Seems a good Choice now as my last Bike !
Thank You Jesus!
Please bring back the sub transmission so us bigger guys can ride too. This was also a Honda exclusive.
Honda xr150l review? Love the videos
Editing that one right now bud and should be ready to go live this Sunday morning ;)
It should've already been posted but it was delayed a bit due to traveling for some upcoming videos and the Oklahoma trip where Honda sent me out to rip in the new Talon and some other shenanigans.
Just try and buy this machine in Canada. Waiting lists are long!
If only it really was 3999. Tried to purchase one last year and gave up after the third dealer tried adding "market adjustments" along with other fees nearly doubling Hondas listed price. The entire dealership model needs to be "revisited".
Honda needs to add a low range gear option like the original CT90.
have you ridden one to say that? it's useless unless u brg 100 pounds of gear & u weight 300 pounds
Depends on where you ride. Low range will go straight up a sharp incline that would kill this bike. In 4th gear 20 mph was tops.
The XMAX 300 seems like the ideal solution for navigating city traffic. Great review!
Love it ! 5500 $
Did they reply..?
Thanks for this comparison. I decided instead of waiting for the 2023 version to arrive to buy a used 2022 and save some $$$. The upgrades are nice but I am not the kind of rider who will probably notice the difference all that much. But I will notice the extra cash in my pocket by not paying dealer fees and what have you. They add another $1000 to the price, and then you have to think about add-ons. Let's hope that works out.
dealer fees,ADM and all cost me over $2400 otd.
What a timeless design
Where's the high/low range transmission? Didn't the older models have it?
Saw one of these this year, 2 up, from Oklahoma doing the Dempster Highway in the Yukon / NWT
I like it. After watching the trip taken in Alaska, I really like it.
You meet the nicest people on a Honda…. 👍😉
Stick the 2023 Honda 160 ADV from Thailand in this frame maybe? More power Kevin!
I absolutely love this bike and want to get one just for local ride to the store without the need to use a car.
Lots of potential with a bike like this but in out society we feel the need to get places fast with more comfort than this can provide.
Great info, thank you.
The #1 improvement I would love to see for the Honda CT125 is a Seat Height adjustment. Find a way to adjust the seat height for taller riders so they aren't so cramped riding the bike.
I think we need a 250 model with an automatic transmission to make this a true dual sport.
Love this bike.
I like the color displacement and all the up grades. Heat shield. Everything they did.
I had a 74 about 4 years back. Had the antique plate n it. Rode it quite a bit. Great around town in a tourist town.
