I've got a photo of me by that same sign at the top of Cinnamon Pass in 2009 with my 1984 Honda GL1200 Goldwing... That was a trip I'll never forget! I had the chance to ride it again on an actual dirt bike in 2019. It made it SO much easier! Silverton is one of my favorite little towns. Mainstreet feels like you are walking into the old west. Looking forward to catching up to your adventure.

What an amazing scenic journey. Seeing folks like you go out and tackle such terrain on a humble bike always inspires. Its my hope to one day get to do the same on mine. I just went and checked my axle nut... amazing you found that part in the road by the way.

Love the views! I tipped over, off camber, downhill right where you had stopped on California Pass - in wet snow on July 3rd on my TAT adventure. Pinned my toe under the downhill foot peg and broke it! MX boots were the only cast I needed for the rest of the trip.

When I was stationed at Ft. Carson, CO, in early 70's, I bought a Honda 175 Scrambler. It was carbureted and wasn't worth a flip at climbing the hills. So, I can't imagine how hard it was was on the 125. Kudos on your adventure!
amazing shots! fellow ct125 owner with about 800 miles on it. great video and journey. One thing you should work on your videos to make them better is to slow on the panning and not move too quickly because it makes it blurry and we can't see the magic that you can see. cheers!
I’ve been to Silverton 3 times since 2009. First two trips were with my Jeep (2009, 2010). In 2020 I rode my KTM 450 EXC-F all over the area and did all the mtn passes except Ophir. Silverton makes a nice base camp for my trips down there in my RV. It’s very rugged terrain and rough.
That's totally the kind of ride I would love to do too!! :D Such nice views and landscape in total. Even with that 'small' ccm bike or maybe because of it such a journey becomes something even more special at all, right?? ^^ Nice job done by filming and bringing it all to an audition whitch likes it too. 😃❤🖖
ha got almost trash in my eye, that I had to wipe a lot, watching this. Did that in June 2012 and seeing those places! Very different look in early June with snow everywhere. (in regular year it wouldn't be even open then but it was low rain/snow season). Oh yeah DR650 so not the same thing but I am a lover of small bikes. TAT isn't mostly _that_ technical. Some steep inclines, soft sand sections and some ditches were the hardest. Most could be navigated around if really needed.
Very cool adventure and Excellent video. So it appears that the CT125 is underpowered for high elevation travel. Wish Honda came out with bigger engine
There are big-bore kits that enable you to turn the 125 into a 142 or 181cc. I saw a video of a guy living in Thailand who did it. Huge difference in power and performance.
I wish I could’ve, however I was riding and could really focus on how good my camera work was due to it being on my helmet while riding. Plus, the video is sped up so the turns are more exaggerated. Hopefully next time I’ll have a better solution though!
If you had the Honda trail 90 or 110 with the two speed transmission it would have been no problem driving up this. A major mistake not including the two speed for the 125
This first episode on the TAT is absolutely fabulous! I am in awe of the scenery, and really appreciate how you captured it. Some of which hads me wondering if maybe it's a bit more than I can chew. How the heck did that Jeep on what barely looked like a wide trail get up on that ridiculously terrifying pass? Add to that puddles, shale..and bikes riding parallel? I'll be sharing this video with friends and facebook groups, as I have in the past with "This Guy Rides" who you refer to towards the end. It was Angelo's initial ventures on the Smokey Mountain 500 and preparing for the TAT that hooked me in to the idea of this cool little trail bike. Very much enjoyed this episode and will be binge watching more this evening.....Nice job!
Love all the Honda trail bikes & scoots using this step thru platform, 50cc,55.65,70,90 & 110cc. The 125 looks like it features some major upgrades with disc brakes, suspension & fuel injection.. The tires on this particular 125 look a bit sketchy at best especially for trail or dirt road/ track riding. with all that gear packed it looks like you forgot the kitchen sink.
It was a perfect combination of simplicity and new tech. I thought about taking one of my Trail 90s, but the convenience of a modern bike sold me fast. And I actually packed fairly light considering the essentials. I have a video on what I packed as well.
You have to realize. When your at 12,000’ your engine is only putting out about 55% of the rated HP. It’s good to somebody with a real sense of adventure.
Not knocking the trail 125, but the 70’s-80’s ct90’s and 110’s had a dual transmission (4-high for road, pull a lever and go into 4-low for the trail) that you could throw into low for crazy torque; it would have handled those hills. My 82 CT110 in low first and second only get up to 6 or 7 mph, but it’s pulls like crazy. Also noting that the new trail 125 doesn’t have the cool auxiliary fuel tank the older models did. I’m still gonna get one, it’s easily the coolest minimoto, but the dual transmission and the extra on-board gas can are things I wish they would have kept.
Likewise. I’ve towed small Japanese trucks out of car ports with with CT90 in low range. They’re great! I also have a spare auxiliary gas tank from one on my fireplace mantle.

I just did something similar on my CT125 this past month Aug - Sep '22 (solo motocamping on my own route then across the TAT) and was looking forward to reach California Pass, but sadly I wrecked in pouring rain in Tennessee and totaled my bike 2200 miles and 15 days in. I wish I was kidding. I came away unscathed, but the trip had to end very early and my Trail is basically a goner unless it gets a new frame and other repairs, but I digress... Do you know the slope percentages of those passes you went through? I was able to keep the Trail in 2nd through the Smokies and Appalachians (10% slopes were the highest I came across), but this looks gnarly. The Rockies are a completely different beast! Great footage btw!
Ahh no way! I’m sorry to hear. Glad you made it out alright, and hopefully insurance can help you out on fixing the bike. I don’t know the slope on this, I’ll see if I can find something online. I swapped a 13T sprocket up front on, and was in first for every pass. California was extremely steep- the kind where your brakes do nothing and you just slide back on gravel….

Steeper inclines bogged down the CT. In this video you can see how I had to walk it up most of California pass at 13K ft elevation. I didn’t ride much on CO highways, but the CT shouldn’t be on highways if possible. I did ride on I5 in Oregon for a few miles and had to pull to the shoulder to let waves of traffic pass me.
I wish they would keep the sub transmission they had on the ct90 and ct110. I go up anything with load. I won't buy this ct125 until something. I'm going to restore my ct110.
I have to ask - why this bike ? there are other dual sport/adv bikes in the same price range. It is a nice bike, probably fun to ride, needs some mods for long adv, but i just feel it is over priced.
What do you mean? This isn’t a 360° camera. If you mean spinning around for the view, that’s what I do in person when looking. That is reality. Also, these videos are already recorded…

Great adventure. Here's a tip. Try to pan slower on the landscapes. I was told that by an old guy while shooting the Grand Canyon. Have fun.

No, the bike did no have the power at that elevation to carry me and my gear. At full throttle, it would just stall.

It didn’t have enough power. All my gear and myself weigh down that 125cc a lot. Plus the elevation. The bike wouldn’t move at all in first gear.
How did you find the Trail at higher altitudes? And steeper inclines? What about CO highway traffic?
