I bought two, one in this beige and one in the red. Up to 600km on the beige one now and it's freed up a bit, still on standard tyres but have done some dry green lanes around my way. Today fitted YSS rear shocks, smaller rack and centre rack and have some trail tyres to go on next week. It's been fun around the back lanes out my way and I'm looking forward to doing a few overnight trips on it. Great service from seven Seas, highly recommended

In the late 70's & early 80's I think nearly every kid on my council estate in northern England 1st biking experience was on a Honda pig as its always been called. My next door neighbour had one that he used for work. Me & his son were the same age & when his dad had been for a few pints on a Sunday afternoon, he'd go to bed to sleep it off. That's when we'd "borrow his & go mental on it 😂 over the local quarry. Probably some of the happiest days of our lives. Didn't realise it at the time but the laughs we had were none stop. I moved ont a DT 175 then an XT 350. Now a fossil in his mid 50's I look at comfort 1st & foremost & only ride in decent weather. But I can't praise this little Honda bikes enough. They're brilliant & for the life of me I can't understand why Honda aren't bringing this bike to the UK. With just about everyone feeling the pinch with fuel & everything else flying up in price. I believe this bike would do so well over here. Anyways great video mate looking forward to hearing about your journey's on the bike.

I didn't have this model but I bought a brand new Wave 110 in Thailand in 2001. It had electric start but a drum brake in the rear which functioned very well, especially in the wet; paid the equivalent of 1.000 US $ for it. I rode it almost 70.000 km in nine years, only replaced the ususal parts like tires, brake pads, chain and sprockets and of course changed the oil regularly. The chain lasted forever inside the enclosed box. Around 40.000 km it wouldn't start, it needed a new spark plug, after that it ran again. Never checked the valves.
These kind of bikes are extremely reliable, simple, meaning easy to repair, and durable. But for 4.500 pounds I'd get another Honda, maybe a CRF300L or even a CB500F.

Yes all the base Hondas are reliable these days. Sounds like you had some good adventures on the 110. With the CT you're paying a lot for the badge as the architecture is largely the same. But some will value that novelty, some won't.

I've got a couple of thousand on one. In Australia. It is pricey for what you get but it's built so well and the practicality is something else. Can confirm, has a crap chain that needs tightening a lot. Other than that, it's fantastic for what I use it for. Good for the work commute with a bunch of stuff in a milk crate on the rack, and it eats up dirt trails like nobody's business.

I’d love to have one in the garage but I doubt id want to pay £4500 for it. I understand the cost is high due to it being an import, but it’s too much considering the price they sell it for abroad. For that price I’d be looking at a XSR125 or a CRF250L. Hopefully people like yourself buying them anyway will show Honda that there is a market for the bike here. Hope it brings a massive smile to your face when you do get out on it 😁

I know £4500 sounds alot but for official UK bikes Honda want just over £4k for the Monkey and £3800 for the Supercub.
So if Honda did bring the CT to the UK it woukd definitely cost over £4k so i think an otr price of £4500 for an imported bike is fair.

Nice review. I've got a 125 Supercub and have added a small rack and top box which I think makes it a practical bike but although others have taken theirs off road don't think I will.
The chain on mine is made of cheese so be prepared.
I'd love a kick start on mine as there have been some issues with the battery.
Quite a few differences as the cub has a drum rear brake.

Gearbox setup is the same as it's always been on the cubs, so presumably Honda just left it as is for the CT. It's very intuitive when you're used to it, I find it good for slipping the clutch on down changes with my heel

Ps if you look in the tool kit there's a piece of wire that loops under the lockable seat that you can lock your crash helmet on the bike.pps the bike holds .8 of a litre of oil be very careful you don't overfill with the 1-litre size.

Far to expensive for what is effectively a rebadged Chinese bike imo though I suspect the crazy (European) price has a lot to do with the Euro 5 specs which hike the price a lot for any motorcycle sold in Europe, if I bought one the first thing to go would be the restrictive exhaust system and the abs.

@@georgebarnes8163 The price is what it is because it's being brought in by a private import company, who will obviously have higher unit costs to cover and who also need to make a healthy margin to justify the punt they made on bringing in the first 25 bikes (I believe they've sold 75 so far so there's definitely a market for them, even at this price point.

@@nathanthepostman I understand, but the point I am making is that these bikes are just Chinese bikes rebranded which is something that Honda should not be doing, they are not Japanese just cheapo clones with a crazy price tag , If I pay for a Honda I expect to get a Honda not just a Honda badge on a cheapo Chinese bike. I can buy a lot better for 4.5 K and then some in the form of a real Honda.

Admittedly, they're a long way away from the Japanese built bikes of old, but bar Fireblades and maybe some of the other high end machines from my understanding none of the Honda range is built in Japan anymore.

I want one of these, but no paying seven seas prices, also u dont even get a honda warranty..Will get one when these come down to 3k. so ive just put trail tyres on my 2006 suzuki FL125 .. Also it has a small factory front screen, rugged back rack.. a gear indicator.. small engine guard, proper oil filter and even injection.. just £600 . I also have a beige CT125 from Seven seas. Had it a month now and done 850km's, so run in, I've been getting 163mpgwhilst running in. Tank holds 5.3 ltrs (only 3.7ltrs on the super cub) so range is 180 miles. Shame the speedo is in km's but you quickly get used to it. Yop speed so far is 102kmph (circa 65mph) on a flat without wind (albeit not checked it with Satnav). All in all a great little bike

After nearly 40 Australia Post in my area are trading out their Honda CT's for electric tricycles. Speaking to my postie it seems the efi models were not as durable or reliable as the older carburettor models. My old CT 110 should start appreciating any day now. Probably should take the flower pots of the seat and dig the weeds out of the rims.

Hi Nathan - my bike from Seven Seas is also tan but I have seen a pale snot green on the web in Thailand - presumably brought out in recognition of Covid!
It’s worth mentioning that the oil capacity is only 700ml - I had a litre in mind so I wasted a couple of hours sorting out an oil change at 150miles!! This small volume will obviously have a bearing on those frequent and necessary oil checks you mention, especially if the bike is being run at full throttle for long periods

These bikes are basically impossible to buy in the United States, because they are sold before they make it to the show room. They are selling for as much as $5600.00 here in the States. I'm still riding my 1973 CT-90 but I would love to buy one of these CT-125. There are none at any Honda Dealerships.

I bet you'll get more than 125 mpg. I also reckon oil consumption will be better on this than the 110. That's based on oil consumption on the Honda Wave 125i I ran for a week in Thai heat. It didn't use any. I couldn't get on with the gearchange, though, which was just like the modern CT's. The CT125 is a handsome machine. It looks better in beige than red. Never seen a green one. I wish Honda would do a Monkey with 15'' wheels and a 150 engine. I'd buy it as a runaround in northern Thailand.

60-65 kms to the liter is reported. Thats around 160-185 mpg imperial. Or 1,5-1,7 liters pr 100 kms. Similar to the new CB125F 2021.

The kickstart is a bonus, the Groms etc have never had them. Obviously a FI bike wont thumb start on a flat battery, but these little 110/125 EFI Honda engines will kick start on a dead battery.

I seem to offer a public service collecting nails and screws from the UK’s roads so one of my priorities is to make the rear wheel, at least, tubeless. There are some tasty laced rims in Thailand but getting hold of them may be a bridge too far (River Kwai?) and I will go down the DIY route
I am still struggling with the gear box and always looking for 5th gear. I wonder if a 37tooth rear sprocket might work for the road riding I do and avoid ABS warnings due to fiddling with the front sprocket. My pension has just been blown on an OPMID Multimeter to replace the oem instrument which may cure both issues as well as giving an mph readout
It certainly is a great fun ride and the folks at Seven Seas Motors (Mark and mucker Sharon) have been great to deal with

You do NOT want tubeless. Hit a pothole or sharp edge like a gutter and it's INSTANT deflate. Not good when your doing 60 Km/hr or more.

@@itchyvet That is almost exactly what happened to me in northern Greece a couple of years ago except it much faster than 60kph and the smash injured both my thumbs and dented the front rim both sides - no deflation of the tyre at all and I was happy not to be sitting at the roadside repairing a snakebite to a tube after a rapid deflation … tubeless is the way to go for me

I have a CT90 Trail imported from the US that will be my next project, and that has all the interesting things you mentionned, except the removeable spare fuel tank - gutted as they are a flippin' FORTUNE to buy now! I also have one from Seven Seas, great service and love the bike. The upsidedown gear change is getting some used to, the engine has had a few shocks shifting the wrong way. USA bike might have the gears the way we a used to, according to the manual it suggests up for first, also watched a UA-cam vid from the state's and I'm sure he clicked up for first? If so I'm wondering if there is an easy fix.

*I've noticed over the last 4.5 years that the liquid-cooled 50cc engine on my 'Metropolitan scooter never loses any oil despite being 'wide-open throttle' 90% of the time I'm riding it*
*It does get 'cruddy' at about a 1K miles worth of use, but I'm certain it would last another 500 at least* *I always change it, tho* )
*In a 'pinch' I bet I could use some paper coffee filters to 'strain it' and put the full-synthetic 10/40 right back in again!*

I think realistically it's never going to be that low, not when the Chinese brands are getting close to £3k. The new monkey is £3900 which gives some indication of where Honda would price it if it did come here. I'd say £4200, but in an ideal world a lot less just to get new riders interested rather than premium price it for the second bike brigade.

@@nathanthepostman guess the new supercub is £3500 new so honda would want a little more for the CT, I suppose realistically most "New" bikers are in their 30s & 40s so they have a little more spare money so it makes sense, most 125 riders in Nottingham are probably deliveroo riders I do see people on monkey bikes & groms but all older riders.

@@nathanthepostman from young people I work with in Notts I'd say young people getting into motorbikes is pretty unlikely as always parents don't want their kids to have bikes , Muslims, Indian kids want BMW's or AUDI's & from people I speak to seem to of found a loophole where you can have a provisional license but show up as & insure as a full license (no idea how or what would happen if they have a crash) or have cars insured on multicar under one legal driver with other illegal drivers using each car .
We seem to have reached the point where 125s are not the cheap option for teenagers anymore.

First what is the front fork travel like, I'm a big lad and may need to upgrade the springs or put a pre loader on. Can you lift the handle bars at all? What are the best off/on road tyres for this machine, I want to do some green lane riding in Yorkshire and nearby. I'm sorry honda but I think the Super Cub looks awful in that grey with red seats. And yes I started on a C100 in 1969, bought for £10 with a seized engine, 4 hours work and a new piston and ran beautifully for another 5 years.

Great bit of info for getting one although I think the market for one here is one that Honda can’t ignore it’s selling so well everywhere else maybe they have played it canny regarding supply to there nearest and biggest customers first and then when that market slows Europe and U.K. may well follow. I keep my fingers crossed. This bike runs without a battery so it gets a kick start for in that event but the super cub wont run without a charged battery because it’s keyless so needs electric power supply. Regarding indication of neutral, does the N on the display light up in neutral?
Also when you stop, say at traffic lights, does the gear go straight to Neutral automatically? Thanks for your presentation it was very good. And yes I hit all the buttons

Yeah, overtighten any chain will stretch it out in no time flat, and likely wreck the sprockets too. There is a tendency to over tighten chains when on the stand as they look slack with the rear unloaded. Read the book of works and set slack on the loose end of the numbers given. A good chain will not stretch as much because it is stronger but if overtightened will wear out the sprockets.

Agree. in 3000 miles only needed to tighten slightly, the chain when oiled regularly and with correct tension will last.

Would using the tip of the ignition key help to pry out the Allen key? Also, I imagine a piece of string could be tied around the Allen key as a pull tab.

This bike is £1850 in Thailand at current exchange rate £500 ish for shipping, However a containerful would cost around only two or three times that. If you're a business in the UK and VAT exempt that's great, but if not you'll have to pay duty and with VAT on shipping costs that is a whopping 23.5% extra in tax. A bike less than 6 months old with less than 3.8k on the clock is 'considered' new by HMRC even if it's had three or four previous owners.
So in 6 months and a few baht to a man in BKK who's really good with oddometers and will no doubt provide you with a backdated bill of sale from an approved dealer, let alone a franchise for a few baht more. A second hand 'as new' grey import. for less than £2500?

Yeah for sure, if you have a man in Bangkok, who's handy at fudging odos, and who will sort out the shipping at that end, then you could definitely get one a bit cheaper. But then you've got to add in costs in collecting from docks, MSVA, first registration fee, numberplate, and by the time you're done you've sailed well over £3k. Containers have also gone through the roof since Covid. Quadrupled to over £10k for a big one from Asia by all accounts. Someone will have to self import and prove what it can be done for. I reckon if they can do it for less than £3500 I'll buy them a pint.

Hi again , the rolling chassis on this bike ... same/very similar to the 1970's Honda C50/70/90 as in pressed steel under the plastics with conventional forks instead of pressed steel leading links ? If yes .. just a thought .. would the C50 etc fully enclosed chain guard/cover fit ? - would keep the crap off the chain and maybe get a few more miles from the chain .. just a thought !

I can just see that allen key going missing and you won't know it until you need it!!!! How would it be possible to fit a seat cushion or luggage over the rear rack if it has the breather box air inlet there? Would you need to carry a spare chain with you on your travels and if the chain is poor quality are the sprockets also poor quality?

These are about 2k English over here in TH.
I have seen a couple out and about, i like them.
But they are nowhere near as popular as the Dreams, Cubs and especially the Waves, which retail from around 900 to 1200 Quid depending on spec.

Really interested that you bought one, as I thought you might given your time on the old 110. I was originally from Leeds, but now I live in NZ. I have just sold my 650 burgman and whilst I liked it, really heavy. I fancy one of these, but wonder about the gear box and change. I would be really interested to know what extras you would add to turn it into an adventure bike. Have a look at a guys on you tube from Aussie 'Warro' I think. cheers Mate Mike

Ha. Yes, I heard the same thing. Thing is, the ct110 has the heel and toe and is conventional (up for up) and can all be done with sole of the foot, so not sure why it's inverted for cub derived bikes

Hi , silly question ... but I will ask anyway , the gearshift - all down - old brit bike style without the 1 up/also known as race bike shift again without the 1 up - you said that you can go from 4th to neutral , can this only be done when stationary ? or when you are riding ie you are in 4th doing 50mph/80kmh and go for another gear(forgetting it only has 4 !) will the bike go into neutral or do nothing/stay in 4th ???

Many Hondas have a small light on the dash showing that the bike is in "top gear". I usually shifted down from 4th, or, when I had to stop quickly, shifted into neutral at very low speeds.

4500, could be worse really, I wonder how far off a Himalayan it is in top speed and 0 to 60 acceleration especially. You could always just cut an Allen key down to key size, glue a key fob on to it and hang it off your keys for the tool box

My CT90 has the same shift pattern (although not cyclical) as the CT125 so maybe the CT110 is the odd one out?

I think it’s a shame they didn’t put a low range on this machine. My old 90 was always in low range off in the woods were there was no trail at all. Too bad. That kind of kills it for me.

I can't understand why Honda are so reluctant to bring this bike in. Anything to encourage motorcycling is a good idea. I think it just shows how behind the curve Honda UK are.
