@11:37 The Natives were probably already eating the trees at that time of year if they stayed for the winter and hadn't migrated seasonally to avoid the harsh conditions. They weren't called bark eaters for being well fed and successful hunters that's for sure. A testament to how difficult the hunting can be in the Adirondacks. The most proud I've ever made my father was when I solo'd a decent sized Adirondack buck with my traditional bow the first year I was legally able to hunt alone and managed to field dress and then drag/carry the buck home . Then got it strung up in the yard and all before he even got out bed for the day. That is an absolute giant Adirondack buck, Congrats.
Not sure how the UA-cam algorithm found you for me but glad it did. That is absolutely at HUGE Adirondack buck. I'd be proud of that anywhere but that thing might as well be a 200"er. Heck of a job man. 👍🏻
Sir,silver roll up insulation is a must on a tent with no floor.I use 4X8 foot sheets of 2 inch thick flat roofing insulation, and it works well enough to walk bare foot in my tent in 20 below zero.i camped homeless in vermont for 4 winter in a row,so,I figured out the best way to heat my tent, floor insulation is a must
Awesome buck. Just a heads up, if you were using a GoPro there’s a setting that records like 30-60 seconds then doesn’t save it. It will do that over and over until you hit the record button. Then it will save the previous 30 seconds so it would of recorded the shot. It’s a cool feature I use when I’m trolling offshore to get footage of the bite.
I can not believe that I have not seen this video. That is quite possibly the best ADK buck I have ever seen. Congrats. I can see the future now can we watch Grandpas big buck video dad. Good luck this season.
Yes, I had it repaired, it’s a simple fix really for any gunsmith, I have no idea how it broke, usually when an extractor breaks it’s because of bad brass causing your shell to stick in the chamber and when you cycle your bolt hard with the stuck brass your extractor will break off first, that wasn’t the case here however, once I had the right tools the empty case in the chamber fell right out easy, so something else happened, I’m glad that buck was down for good after the second shot or things could have gotten real interesting fast with a broken rifle and no way to get the empty case out of the chamber!@@ChrisWilliams-nu1sf
Finnaly somebody's using a scope and a bolt action rifle. And didn't have to shoot at the buck 10-12 times or more to kill a big buck. Y'all are great trackers. And great hunters.
Perspective! Wow. Your closing words. I just can't. It's truly a record for ancestors. Amazing
Seems like a good guy , same reason we started! Congratulations on a beautiful memory! 🎉🦌

How did the extractor break? Was it repairable?
