    Not mentioned as a copper antagonist/agonist was thiamine. In case of copper overdose/dosing, thiamine should be used with zinc and molybdenum.

      I have to take a high amount of thiamin / benfotiamine due to neuropathy. Does it mean it pushes copper out of my body?

      @@jimpanse5450they're co-active, but thiamine is destroyed by cooking heat and not copper and zinc, so you are fine taking just thiamine. If your body is low on copper/zinc reserves, thiamine will give you an headache/migraine. Neuropathy is often caused by chronic B6 defiency, so taking B1 would make it worse. Symptoms of B6 deficiency are migraine, night cramps, tinnitus, noise/glare intolerance, gout, and swelling under left jaw bone

    Excellent analysis Felix! Thanks for covering the Copper Revolution as requested and covering the duality of trace minerals. You certainly did your homework! ; ) I believe part of the main problem relates to the suboptimal liver functions contributing to the biological perplexity. For example, when the liver is taxed due to toxic iron, copper,, vitamin A, or even other nutrient deficiencies, it is unable to perform the proper functions for detox and crucial enzyme synthesis, so a situation such as unbound copper overload could occur as the liver fails to manufacture the binding transport proteins such as ceruloplasmin. Similarly, when an overtaxed liver fails to convert vitamin A effectively, the body may accumulate excessive levels of stored retinyl ester, leading to hypervitaminosis A, which is in fact bioavailable retinol deficiency that could be utilized for vision, immune function, and gene regulation, that in turn also contributes to the failure to manufacture ceruloplasmin for ferroxidase activity (vs inflammatory response, another duality) crucial for iron metabolism. I agree with you that one approach doesn't fit all but the importance of bioavailable copper isn't stressed enough in pure Mineral Balancing protocol.

    Hi, Felix: It's only been a couple of weeks that I've been subscribed to your channel, but I really enjoy your videos. The information is interesting and I really appreciate the calm manner in which the material is presented. That is, no jarring music, no shouting, no trying to be a comedian, etc. UA-cam is littered with such videos and I will not tolerate them, no matter how good the content.
    Next, I have two questions:
    1. How do people get out-of-balance with minerals in the first place?
    I would think that the body knows how to keep everything in balance, absent some condition that prevents it from doing so.
    2. Once minerals are balanced (confirmed via a follow up HTMA, I presume), how do the minerals remain in balance?
    If the body got out-of-balance in the first place, how can we assume it will not happen again?

      As for your questions:
      1. Stress and suboptimal nutrition are probably the most common causes. Too much stress depletes calming nutrients and retains stimulating ones. Add to that low quality nutrition and after a couple of years you get pretty significant nutrient imbalances.
      2. The ideal values are really just pointers to know which direction to go. No one has perfect mineral ratios, so there are always ratios that are a little off that you can work on. As long as you keep tracking and adjusting, you will feel better long term.

      Society is design from top down to keep us sick. That's why you can see animals in the wild aren't struggling to balance their minerals like us. So if you live in society, not "off grid" and they want you sickand you're prone to be, there isn't so much you can do about it. There will alwasy be a level of health they allow as you see in more healthy individuals but as a whole we're farmed to be sick so we don't revolt. Live off-grid for the best results. And yes, stress is part of their poisoning programming for us, so maybe mainstream news is a factor is your life and "sub-optimal nutrition" as they poison us with the food, particularly with the processed/packaged crap. So however much you can procure your own food, via hunting and farming/gardening that would help in a major way.

      Lots of things. Like I have high calcium water which is probably what lead to magnesium deficiency I now drink mineral water that has low sodium and higher magnesium and I take magnesium and all is good. Coffee and illness also uses up magnesium. Copper pipes and a lack of zinc too over years...we don't get much fresh seafood or nuts here but we have copper pipes. Your body can only use what it takes in. If you're constantly taking in one thing and not another your body can't magically change the elements ..it can temporarily swap things around but over time it can't cope.

      I think youre right to ask - on the other hand I have come to the conclusion that "sources" of information are just as reliable or unreliable as they turned out to be just opinions most of the times or lets call it .... biased proof.

    Thyroid function plays key role in copper and vit A metabolism. Because I was hypothyroid most of my life once I started eating beef liver etc.. My health was going down hill very fast.. I was more and more vit A and copper toxic.. I was taking T4 many years, but felt worse and worse so It just converted into reverse T3 and I felt more hypothyroid.. Now for the first time I am trying T3 only.. I did blood tests before I started with T3 andm y serum copper is low(at least my free copper is 0...) So it will be interesting to see the difference after soem time on T3 therapy..

      @@clarala9215 No exact opposite. Vitamin A and copper is accumulating in hypothyroid people and copper and vit A inhibits thyroid function.. Basically beef liver (high in copper and vit A) is the worst thing that you can eat.. You probably already have vit A and copper overload in the liver.. You need to increase intake of things like animal protein, zinc, B vitamins especially B1,B2,B3, choline. Also selenium, molybdenum, potassium, magnesium. Eat low vit A diet go watch Dr.Smith youtube and go on his "love your liver program". You need to lower stress on your body. Avoid all toxins from EMF to toxic people so your body is not in constant stress mode. If your job is too much stress you need to change it or if you live in house with mold you need to move. Also you need to be outside to ground yourself and never take D3 pills. Vit D orally increases calcium and lowers potassium in the cells which means it lowers metabolism even more. D3 only from the sun. From fat soluble vitamins is ok orally only small dose K2 and vit E complex.. You see iti s complex issue. I don't know what is the cause of your hypothyroidsm but like I said vit A and even from plant foods is problematic for most people. Kee p it low very low. Especially if you have history of eating high vit A foods all the time, taking vit A supplements or even accutane etc..

      ​@clarala9215 do you have a copper deficiency? Vitamin a deficiency? The person is saying eating liver gave them too much copper and vitamin a... liver is very high in vitamins a and too much is very bad for you. Dont assume you need something without testing for it first. The symptoms of deficiencies are often the exact same as the symptoms of deficiency. A hair copper test would tell you if you are deficient or have too much. But also copper needs zinc and zinc needs vitamin c and vitamin c needs vitamin e. The whole thing is important. You could also use an app like chronometer to see what you're ingesting but it won't tell you what you're absorbing ..if you take the wrong thing it can mess you up. I took calcium when I had a magnesium deficiency and the results were aweful. I also took vitamin d which I was deficient in but because it uses magnesium it gave me low magnesium so when I took a calcium just 2 days I had severe body spasm and convulsions ..it was scary. So you need to either take the rda and no more than that or actually have a test to figure out if you need it or not.

    Comes down to the sodium to potassium ratio. If this is below 2.5 on a hair test, then you will feel better taking copper. Higher, and you won’t. Does that mean you should take copper only? No! But it does mean you need copper along with other nutrients for better adrenal function, which in turn helps your liver to make “toxic copper” available again and potentially eliminate it.

Is it correct to say that POTASSIUM NEEDS TO BE THREE TIMES ..OR 2.5 TIMES TO BE MORE EXACT ..GREATER THAN SODIUM ? AND IF POTASSIUM IS LESS THAN 2,5 TIMES GREATER ..then should take copper ?

      @@miketermaaten26 no sodium needs to be higher than potassium then we know the adrenals are ok and the cells are absorbing nutrients and detoxing - called the sodium potassium pump. However the problem doesn't stop there because if you have very low levels of sodium and potassium but a normal or high na-k ratio then you still have weak adrenals but the body is holding on to sodium because it is in burnout. Inflammation can ensue.

      Heh, this is an involved topic.
      Last time I really dived into it, a paper questionnaire was the best considered diagnostic tool.
      You can look into ceruloplasmin, hair test mineral analysis, but the established methodology was just a paper questionnaire assessing your diet and energy/fatigue levels.
      Hopefully, the science has advanced some. Regardless, high copper fucks with your head and lowers your energy levels.

      As a fair warning. I haven' t been able to find any convincing evidence that hair analysis actually presents tissue concentration. It is a bold claim Felix makes but is not substantiated with evidence. If there is evidence please show me. In the meantime i have found evidence in the opposite direction in a study from Deon van der Merwe et al. 2022 Evaluation of hair analysis .... youll find it right away on google.

      Theyre accurate for what is in your blood. But that's it. They can't tell anything other than what is in your blood. So you could have perfect blood magnesium but no magnesium left in your muscles. The body piroritizes blood levels so that's the last place things show up at least deficiencies. They will tell if you have too much of something in blood. They're pretty accurate but all they can test is the blood you gave them. If you want to know what's in your muscles you'd have to give them some muscle. Or bones you would have to give them some bone. Or glands you'd have to hand over your gland to the lab. And thats not desirable.

It doesnt tell me about my copper pipes or copper in the water so hair analysis probably won't be helpful since we have copper pipes which will get into the hair as well as things like biotin shampoo etc. Its pretty difficult to figure out other than by taking something for a while and seeing what happens and if you feel shit at first maybe setting back and just see how it goes but I took 2 days of rda calcium and because of low magnesium had full body spasm convulsions! I had been taking high vitamin d. I dont even know if supplements are of use unless there actually is a serum level issue. Cos so many things need other things like how it comes in food.

    Would you say if a copper supplement is taken and you begin to feel some level of anxiety even an depressed and desperate feeling you are actually doing harm? To my interpretation this is a sign of toxicity. I think if needed there shouldn't be all this side effects. Your channel is awesome by the way! Now you have one subscriber more.

      Yes, anxiety from copper supplements is almost always a sign that something is off your copper metabolism - most likely toxicity.

      @@felix-harder it's quite severe to be honest. So more is not better I guess. The thing is information about this kind of topic is so conflicting. When I watched your video you once did about copper toxicity and all the symptoms you had that made me think because i had many of them after taking the supplement, like headaches and this feeling of anxiety with negative thoughts. Then there are other people talking about how nothing under 10 mg can be toxic. I thank you a lot for covering this. I will keep watching. Stay healthy and keep doing what you are doing.

      @@DavidMartinez-mj3lp yes, I, too am a little wary on which way to go. I’ve been watching interviews with Morley Robbins, and I was about to order 2 mg copper supplements from Amazon knowing I could take up to two a day he said would be good. But then I didn’t know what type to buy since there’s so many suffixes and specificity’s in copper. A friend of mine said the hydrosol she used gave her the runs big time. So I’m still on the fence. I do take zinc supplement that has some copper with it but once again, I don’t know if that’s good or bad. Guess I should just budget for a hair tissue analysis, right?

      @@DavidMartinez-mj3lp When supplementing copper, you must be careful to balance with zinc, usually at 1:8 ratio or you can end up zinc deficient that could lead to various negative symptoms. Separate the intake, copper in the AM and zip in the PM since they're antagonists.

      @@TW-il4vy I don't think that's actually the point. Copper can become bio unavailable under certain circumstances and when it does more Copper from food or supplements does not help. This has nearly nothing to do with zinc in my opinion. As Felix said in the video it's complex and what appears to be a deficiency can actually be an Copper overload. It's not just about taking zinc and Copper.

      Bioavailable copper is required to keep fungal infections in check. That's why many people with copper problems have candida issues.

    Nice analyzis. Following the RCP my copper started coming out after blood donation 6, in masses over 1-2month. Smell and colour of stools showed it, also i was copper toxic according to HTMA.

Eg., I don't eat any produce/food that is high in copper content, I don't use copper cookware, I don't take copper supplements ... is there even a remote possibility I could have copper overload anyways? How did you get into copper overload?

    I found out I had too much copper that’s why I couldn’t sleep and that’s why I smelled terrible things, and noise bothers me bad you like to kill me that too much copper I went into seizures at the hospital

    I used 2mg of copper gluconate for 2 weeks and then 1mg of copper gluconate for 2 weeks, symptoms of MCAS/Histamine Intolerance and peripheral neuropathy decreased significantly, blood pressure normalized and serum copper returned to normal levels, but ceruloplasmin remained low.
    I stopped using it because I started to experience many side effects such as a metallic taste in my mouth, eyes, throat and dry skin, irritability, anxiety and insomnia, changes in estradiol and a little acne. I believe that my body would tolerate copper better if my ceruloplasmin levels were good, but I don't know how to improve it.

      I had a hair analysis over a decade ago, though not through either of the two labs that Felix recommends. I found a practitioner that interprets hair analyses, paid him, we sent my hair sample to the lab, and the doctor received and interpreted the results. It cost me a few hundred dollars and was not covered by my insurance. I think it would be unlikely for any insurance company to cover such testing or its interpretation. My experience has convinced me that the best way to get the healthcare one needs is usually to pay for it out of pocket. It would be even better if one is extremely wealthy, as that allows more options. But, I never had such good fortune.

      @@1966MrAlexit’s probably low. Low levels cause problems with pigmentation and greying of the hair.

      Low copper. Copper helps with pigment in hair, skin etc... If one is severely deficient, it may present as patches of depigmentation

    Is there any specific binder that you like for binding to copper to remove it better?

      You can’t bind to copper. You just take zinc and stop eating the copper. The body will eventually get rid of it.

    My last bloodwork showed very high levels of copper AND zinc. Zinc Im supplementing ... so that sounds like copper dumping if I understood it right. Are there any other "hidden" copper sources I can look out for? Tap water in Germany is usally quite good when it comes to metals but are there any others?

    Felix, how would you interpret a blood test that showed low copper with normal ceruloplasmin?

      Difficult to say without a tissue test. Could be a deficiency or a bioavailability problem (= low blood copper & high tissue copper). I'd get a hair analysis as well: ua-cam.com/video/9yCNQ0Oegck/v-deo.html

    I have far too high copper levels in the blood, is that a pretty clear zign for copper toxicity or could my hair minerals results maybe show defficiency in the tissue? Thank you. I do have symptoms that fit copper toxicity

      I have had my first hair tissue analysis done. It seems that one’s true mineral/toxic levels are revealed, after the second or third hair analysis. When there’s excessive copper (toxic copper) showing on the test, it doesn’t necessarily mean, one has enough of the bioavailable one inside the tissues. Blood for example doesn’t show the tissue levels. Also, ratios are more important than looking at a single mineral. For example, if one has a low sodium/potassium levels. Practitioners often recommended taking a small amount of copper, along with zinc. On the contrary, if one has a high NA/Ka ratio, only zinc is recommended. Dr. Eck has many in-depth papers written on it.
      All minerals should be balanced out in the same time. Taking to much from one, could unbalance another. It’s quiet intriguing to me and in my opinion, a great tool to get to the root of the problem and find healing.

    Can copper dumping cause green poop? My friend says it does but I don't see how a body could have enough copper in it to affect the color of your poop.

      Green poop is usually excess estrogen that is finally being eliminated. Is often comes out as copper leaves the body.

      hypothyroidsm can cause low ceruloplasmin, high free copper as well..

    HI Felix, Stumbled upon your channel. I love the fact that you are knowledgeable about all the different 'subcultures' in the copper field. I've been looking into all the different protocols in the last 10 years, started with HTMA where the dominant narrative was 'copper toxicity'.
    Now, I do have a question: my copper in HTMA has always been low, my blood levels of copper too, so as my ceruloplasmin and retinol (which is needed to make ceruloplasmin).
    Recently I did a heavy metal challenge test and what do you think comes out very elevated after taking the chelator (dmps): COPPER. So is this a confirmation that indeed my copper levels are probably high, but unbound?

      Hey, I don't want to bother, but have you started any kind of protocol since you have done your tests? Do you feel any better? If I got it correctly, your HTMA test correctly indicated copper toxicity despite showing the levels as actually being low?
