One thing to keep in mind is that modifications have probably already happen since others have been reviewing and testing for Fisher Research Labs. We won't know 100% about what this machine can do until its offered up to the public but this version offers some good insight . I posted some additional information on my website and you can find it here: mentalmetaldetecting.com/fisher-impulse-aq-limited-metal-detector-review/

gday from oz,would be keen to know what happens to bobby pins and small pieces of aluminium, when you increase the pulse delay,i have the tdi pro and the whites beach hunter things do change with the pulse delay, could you have a play with that please
Great question on the availability. I wish I knew. They were supposed to be out by now. As far as the comparison to the TDI Pro goes, the AQ is going to be a beach machine that is going do well finding jewelry and should be 100% waterproof. I've owned and used a TDI (not pro) on the beach and while it did just fine I did have some limitations obviously due the lack of being waterproof. But without knowing the updates the AQ will have when they do release it it, will be hard to compare. The model I was testing had some concerns from me but supposedly they addresses all the issues I had concerns about so it should be a really nice machine and hopefully at a reasonable price.
I have the Whites TDL, if you adjust the frequency delay you can get rid of certain targets.. but other stuff may be accepted.. frequency delay is like a floating discrimination mode, as you adjust it, things come in and out….
Nice vid mate..........looks like there’s still lots of testing still to be done..........on this machine. Good to see Fisher working on this. But lm sure there’s a lot more development needed and this will take more time. Thanks for the vid.......all the best from DownUnder
The fact that this machine knocks out or knocks down some coins on an AIR TEST Scares me ... Im a Huge FISHER fan and I hope future updates correct this
Just to be completely open and honest, this was one of the early models that they were sending out to test. I was told that most of things that I pointed out in the video have been addressed but I can not confirm since I haven't seen their latest updates.
So, it seems that, in fact, the detector does not discriminate iron and other undesirable targets the way the manufacturer says it can do? In the next video with the Impulse, could you find a way to let the viewers hear the sounds too? Thank you.
It actually does a pretty good job of getting rid of nails so I think bigger iron it will do fine discriminating iron. Better than most other PI machines IMO. The smaller stuff I don't know for sure. If you watched both sets of tests I did (the one after the beach) you can hear the audio if you listen closely. You basically have a hi and low pitch like most PI machines have. But the tones are crisp and clear. Keep in mind also that Fisher Research Labs has probably already made some modifications to this machine based on other reviews so we won't know for sure on its performance until the final version comes out. I have more info on my article that I published here: mentalmetaldetecting.com/fisher-impulse-aq-limited-metal-detector-review/ thanks for the feedback.

A Very Good quick honest review. The new model has many upgrades, drop in batteries (longer lasting) , the head phones are bigtime up graded, both the coil and head phones now connect in the same place up front. Coils offered, the 8 and 12.5.. Some up grades to the internals which stabilize the machine more when your in the surf.. the list goes on. Release is to be spring but have to wait and see on that with all going on...
Scott I agree with you about beach hunting. I live about an hour from Nags Head NC and I've never been there detecting. I had rather hunt fields and woods. Good review of the machine!
Lots of shipwrecks off nags head and the entire obx coast. I would def. go give it a try after nor'easters and or hurricanes or just favorable winds. Lots of old coins and relics could be found. I agree I would rather relic hunt than to look for change and modern jewelry on the beach, but Nags head has tons of history. Read the book "Graveyard of the Atlantic", I bet you think differently.....
"AQ" is not good on chains unless there is a pendant .... NOX is way better. But the "AQ" is a killer on small gold rings...1 grams gold ring at 14 inchs is normal...18 on a 5.5 gram 22k
With the pitiful separation that a monoloop / concentric coil offers and the super slow recovery speed of that machine (as shown in your testing at home on the coins) i think you would dig less rings with this machine.....especially if a ring is laying by a coin.....save your money people and buy a NOX.
It will be good on quiet beaches. You are just going to have to dig every good signal trash or not which is usually the case with any PI machine anyway. It does offer more DISC than I've used seen on any PI machine that I have ever used (ATX, TDI, GPX etc) so it has that going for it. If you aren't a dedicated beach hunter this machine def isn't for you.

Hello, so is there a current update for a public release date internationally?

You are absolutely right. I had a TDI for awhile and it loved the nails and bobby pins. Great machine for its time.
Need to run your coil wire (down by the coil) the other way....to keep it farthest away from the coil as possible on the rod.
I wonder if the coil cable should first run straight up the detecting shaft before making the windings? I like the detector so far.
Thanks Rob I wonder what the final version will look like. I've heard they have been making changes to address some of the concerns.
Can you try with small gold nugget please
