Compact is nice.
I love the idea of a compact folding metal detector and the design looks good. The bulky size has prevented me from buying a metal detector. I'm not a metal detecting guy but I think I'd have preferred a small ABS plastic spade instead of the folding shovel, $10 less and no headphones so I can use my cellphone's open ear buds to hear without disturbing others while having better situational awareness, and replaceable internal CR123 or 18650 lithium batteries that can be recharged via USB. "You know engineers. They just love to change things." - Dr. Leonard McCoy.
Garrett makes their folding ATX metal detector. They market it as "military grade". I know what they mean. When I saw the $3000 price tag, I said, "Hell buddy, the war's over!"
