Top Man! Building a new ITX build for general user (WFH looking to get into some mild gaming @1440p). Undecided on 7700/9600x/9700x/7800x3d or now the 9800x3d. I am very much a best value type of person, so hoping for some videos on recomendations once the initial launch videos pass to get the balance between efficiency/performance/cost. Of all the videos on 9800x3d you were the closest in your conclusion summary. Let's see when it's finally released.
I have a 9700X that works fine for me, with a midrange GPU. I can't decide if I want to upgrade to 9800X3D quite yet. I think I might wait for the price to drop on it, and to see what the differences are for the new videocards coming next year. If the difference is small at 4K for the next AMD videocards I might just keep using the 9700X. Thumbs up!
about to build my 1st sffpc, i will use it for a mixture of ultrawide gaming and simple 3d modelling in sketchup/cad/photoshop (architecture work) which are single core softwares as far as i know. 9800x3d seems like a good fit but would 9700x be more compatible for an aircooled sffpc config?
For your cooling video, could you test this with the current king of 47mm air coolers (AXP90x47 Copper)? I imagine everyone with a Fractal Terra and a 3 slot GPU is dying to know.
I wouldn’t bother for the 7800X3D- plus pricing is a bit wonky at this point. Depending on what GPU you have and the resolution you’re gaming at, 9800X3D might make sense when discounts start to kick in.
I guess the deciding factor for me is what cpu can I cool the easiest while gaming with an axp90-47 FC in a Formd T1, 10% fps here and there is not that important, quiet and cool is. Would that be the 9700x? Edit: Yeah I guess I should have waited until the end :P
If you're only gaming, either will cool fine with what you have (in fact the 9800X3D will draw down less power). 9700X will be more cost effective and the stock TDP is perfect for your cooling solution if you're doing some workstation tasks as well.
@MachinesMore 144fps to 240fps (occasionally). Currently have an old 2080super but most likely switching to a new gpu such as 4060ti or 4070ti/super. So not the high end gpus.
The 9700X is going to be much more cost effective when paired with those GPUs you mentioned. If anything the difference in price could be applied towards getting that 4070 ti or super which would yield much more of a benefit.
I put a 9950x in my FormD T1 with a Lobo waterblock. Zero crashes after 3 months straight usage. CPU stays below 50c. This is the future of productivity (I game too).
@@MachinesMore Yes sir, tx240 with two Scythe Wondertornados (the noctuas made a funky whine at 1700rpm so I switched to these). Your T1 sandwich video is the main reason I got one, so thank you!
15:00 Why is the 0.1% Low about 100% better on the 7800x3D vs the 9800x3D in Microsoft Flight Simulator?? 👀 Which you totally ignored in your commentary. The 1% Lows are better too.
Ok dude, if your benchmarks are showing that all CPUs tested are close to the same, it’s obvious you have a gpu bottleneck. Why, just WHY are we STILL benchmarking on High and Ultra settings???? Absolutely ridiculous
Will you be picking up the 9800X3D?
That's my goal. Just hope there is enough stock to order one. I'm buying this to build my new system and giving my current build to a friend.
With 9800X3D going toe to toe with 9700X in workload performance, my Spider Senses are tingling for those 9900/50X3D parts 😁
playing in 1440p/4K so my 14700k will run fine so not wort the upgrade.. will wait for next gen or buy a 50-series rtx
Definitely, not much difference there, certainly not worth the trouble of a platform overhaul either!
It’s tough. I want to move from 7800x3d to the 9800x3d just for SFF thermal performance

Really curious to see how the 9900X3D turns out. The FOMO is preventing me from getting the 98 😅.
Looking forward to your CPU cooler video.
still feeling good about my 5800X3D
Still a solid solid one.
Super. thanks for the higher resolution work
Thanks for the down to earth review as always! Clicked on your vid first :)

Thanks for the review! Could you also do a 9800x3d fractal terra build to show thermals and such? Cheers!

I’ll be testing it separately!
i recently upgrade to am5 like 3 weeks ago and got 7500f do you think i should save for this or wait for the 10000 series?
Running a 7700x air cooled in a Ch160 case, would the 7800x 3D be a worthwhile upgrade or hold on till next gen?

@MachinesMore work is done on a work pc, this one sits in the living room as a "console". Thanks for the input! Great vid as always.
whats with the 0.1% lows in MS games?
ULPS is usually enabled and should be disabled (it's a powersaving "feature")
To pair with a Radeon 7800XT for playing csgo 2 at 1440p, should I go with 9700x or 9800x3D? Thanks, please advise.
Which one? IIRC GO doesn’t benefit much from X3D but 2 does. That being said with a 7800XT the 9700X will likely make the most sense cost-wise.
@MachinesMore cs2
Excellent! Now let's see if I can grab one... Thank you i7 8700, you have served me well!
That will be a HUGE upgrade! Good luck!
I got a dumb question. If i play low demand games like league of legend and csgo and spend 50% on internet browser. Would 9700x be a better option?
How high frame rates are you chasing and what GPU?

Indeed, love the lobo. Are you on a single 240? 9950X and 9900X cool very well.

Enjoy your content, but not a fan of that thumbnail.
I didn't even notice the thumbnail - just clicked because I like this dude (no lgbtq+)

@@rando843 He updated it. I guess if you show up earlier enough you get to see some weird thumbnails lol.

You know when it's 105% when compared to 7800x3d, we call it " Zen 5% ".
The interesting thing about this one is the greatly enhanced workstation performance!
