  • The Toyota Tundra received a full redesign for the 2022 model year. While there are no significant changes to speak of other than the addition of a factory-installed 3-inch lift kit and the Nightshade package that blacks out exterior trim, there are many features the Tundra offers that make it attractive to potential buyers. Is it better than the big three? Find out in today’s Vehicle Visionary video!

I bought a new tundra on 1/1/24 in Flagstaff Az. Since I had owned 3 Tundras in the past, I thought that this tundra would be a good truck like the others. Boy was I wrong! I hated it the second day I bought it. TERRIBLE GAS MILEAGE, nothing at all like they advertised. I pulled my 2,400 lb Casita travel trailer to Dallas TX back in March and I got between 8 to 11 mpg! The
tow mirrors were so large I couldn’t see over them
causing a large blind spot on both sides. I stopped at a gas station for fuel outside of Amarillo and I couldn’t all the while taking up a pump site. Very frustrating! The controls are out of your hands in that you really can’t turn off the ones that you don’t like. The truck looks like it’s lowered and it squats on purpose after you hook up a trailer. All in all it’s a junk truck. I traded it in April for a Ford 150 5.0 coyote engine. I’m very happy with it. I couldn’t wait to get rid of that Tundra. If you decide to buy the Tundra, I hope you are happy but I sure wasn’t. Thank you for reading my comment!

You are just the few that bitch on everything. In my whole life, I have never seen a living soul that can satisfy everyone yet. Plus you pulled a very heavy trailer and expect the same gas mileage? Like you can run fast with a heavy load on your back. 🤦‍♂️

$62,000 for a low/mid level truck. All your household cars should only add up to half your annual income at the most. If you have another vehicle worth $30,000 you would need to make $184,000. I own that 2024 truck in Lunar Rock and TRD OFFROAD. This Toyota tundra loses in the full size truck of the year. It would win Mid-sized truck of the year. I will barely haul 9000 pounds. I tried it with a load of firewood on my 14ft. dump trailer. I would be reluctant to fill that trailer with 4 tons of wood. My load weighed 2.6 tons on a 2500lb trailer. 3.8 tons total and the tundra is rated to haul 5.1 tons. I imagine this tundra would haul 5.1 tons but then I would likely be looking at it's early death if I continue loading this truck up. It has a noticeable vibration inside the cab while driving that sounds simply Nissan. Toyota has sold their last truck to me. I should have bought a Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 with the inline 6 cummins diesel. Big. Big Buyers Regret.

Better? You have to be kidding... TOYOTA ruined a classic. Now, the exploding Tundra engine recalls and the falsification of miles per gallon in the car line ALL IN ONE WEEK ? Bet every Tacoma buyer over the last 3 years wish they had bought a Titan, RAM, or Ford - just anything but a jack in the box (crank crank...boom). Toyota made a horrible decision to vacate the V8, and now their customers are paying for it. Had to replace my 12 yr old RAM three months ago... so glad I took a hard pass on Tundra and choose a V8 Ram - Car and DRIVER truck of the year for 2024 (16% off MSRP) Toyota and the BIg 3 are ALL suffering from the Davos Effect in the truck industry. Soon Ford will be on the mfg to offer a V8 in a base truck - sad!!

I actually like it. Only 136 miles so far, but I like it better than past Tundras. I’ve ran a 2012, 2015, 2018 for my company trucks over the last 10 years. Those were all gutless gas hogs. Especially the 12 because it had the 4.6. This one will at least pull a camper.

Toyotas are so overrated and overpriced. I’m so glad I bought a 2024 CHEVY COLORADO TRAIL BOSS. It will eat up and spit out the silly Tacomas and even Tundras!

    • @MsAce0424

When you see chevy commonly getting 500k to 1 mil miles on their gas trucks, than we can talk on why there is a price difference. Im a chevy and toyota lover. Completely non bias. Im just speaking facts. I own one of each. Ive owned many of both manufacturers. And was a mechanic for 15 years bedore a career change. The price difference will be in the fact a toyota truck lasts 4x longer. Toyota truck cult people can legit own one truck in the time you own for Chevy Trucks.
The chevy Colorado cant chew and spit out a tundra. It's a 2.7L turbo with 305 hp. The tundra is rated just under 400 hp and wayyyyyy more torque than the Colorado. The hybrid model is upper 400 hp and mkd 500s for torque. The Colorado is faster than the tacomas, yes.100%. Again... long-term reliability is the key. Even than the tacomas and Colorados are around the same price

    • @nezabytes

You're insane. Toyota trucks reliability and build quality are unmatched. I used to make parts for all of them. Toyota is far above any American truck brand.

    • @Waterman1000
      @Waterman1000 4 місяці тому +2

@@nezabytes You see, the fact that you’d still use the term “American” to define a vehicle categorically in 2024 (versus “Japanese” I’m assuming you’d say of Toyota) shows that you’re clueless about the reality of automotive manufacturing today. If we took both trucks entirely apart and put all the parts/
pieces down in rows to identify where they all came from, not to mention where they were both assembled, you’d be hard pressed to a difference. In fact, you’d see they both have lots of parts from China (unfortunately), in addition to countless other countries. News flash: in 2024 Chevrolets don’t “come from” Detroit and Toyotas don’t “come from” Japan.
So, since origin is cleared up, I’ll move to performance. The 2023-24 Trail Boss Colorado is a beast by comparison when it comes to power. I’ve driven both Tacos and Tundras; the taco by comparison to my Colorado is weak and feels like half the truck (Colorado is larger than Tacoma but not quite as large as Tundra, but closer to it than Tacoma); and while Tundra has more power than Tacoma and gets closer to a power match with my truck, it’s not nearly as tight (the reason people choose tacos over tundras) because the tundra just has a big ol’ full size boat vibe about it-like a Silverado.
Nope-the Trail Boss lives up to it’s name. With all the overlander mod plans I have for my truck, I’m so glad I’m not doing it with a Tacoma (starting with the fact that 20” wheels and a 2” lift are standard on the Trail Boss trim). It tows nearly 1,500 lbs more than a Tacoma, and the list goes on.
I always pass the hundreds of plain ol, dime-a-dozen Tacomas on the freeways and think it would cost the price of the truck all over again to make one of them stand out aesthetically. My Colorado stood-out from the crowd right off the lot!
As for your “American” truck comment, I could only wish it was truly and entirely American because I’m a patriot. Unfortunately, for sake of the country and our economy, it’s not American. But for the sake of truck performance and reliability-LIKE EVERY VEHICLE MAKE-it’s hardly different than Toyota.
