Love my 23 Silverado RST Z71 with the 3.0 duramax. 8L/100 doing 110 and better on 80km/hr roads. 11L in the city and around town. Smoothest powertrain on the market imo. Tons of giddy up and go
As a Tundra owner I agree with you on most of those issues! I haven't had a wind noise issue on my SR yet, I am now at about 6K in, the rear bed is terrible and as you I have been waiting for my mat since November (dealer says I should be getting it this month) I did a long winter drive from southern Alberta (near Montana to Edmonton) and recorded my fuel milage, it was good for what conditions I was driving in, but you're right the efficiency is not the best, I only had the collision avoidance light come on once so far!
Now I know why people are walking up all the time asking to buy my 2014 5.7 Tundra. Zero issues in 10 years. Toyota took a few steps down with this one.
I was a loyal Toyota owner. 2 Tundra's, RAV 4, and 2 Corolla's in the last 10 year's. When to buy a 2024 Tundra and didn't like it at all with all the plastic, no rear bumper to get in, and no tow hok's. I Went with a Silverado with the 3.0 Duramax because it felt more like a Truck.
Completely agree about the remote start. I only ever use the app now after trying the fob about 2 times lol. Hopefully your bed mat arrives soon! I saw somebody posted on Facebook about a volume knob replacement for their SR5 the other day
OK, now I understand. I have a 2023 1794 . Mine has every option know to man but paint protection. Hybrid. If you can afford it the HUD is to die for. Air Bags are great on suspension. 14 inch screen in no way impedes vision. Audio knob is large compared to yours. I am retired now. 35 years as a union ironworker. I can afford the truck I always wanted. Spent 80K out the door on mine. My last truck was a Ford F-150 Lariat that I had for 23 yrs. Had 324,000 miles on it. Now on my farm for it's 2nd life. On our 2nd Toyota Avalon, love it. Love my 1794 Hybrid.
I was heading to make that comment. Fob designed bad intentionally to force the monthly app payment just to use your auto start, and then the truck still shits off when entering it.
Watching this still driving a 2012 Chevy Silverado on 33s, leveled, 5.3 vortec, hauling wood, hay bales and other shit out in Kansas. But damn as a whole your truck is really nice. Besides the tires. lol
I agree with you on all these issues, literally what I complain to myself about daily Remote start shutting off when you open doors is annoying as fuuck, 24 Tacoma doesn’t do it. I went with rough country bed mat, same as my Toyota mat that’s in my 2022 Tacoma. Likely same supplier. Volume knob is ridiculous, use steering wheel volume control. Tires suck. Working in forestry, seeing fords and chevys having issues when under a year old makes me put up with these Toyota quirks to have a trouble free truck. DFM the gm’s grenade the engine around 170-200k, which for some is around 2 years old
I pretty much have this same truck (2024), and I haven't had an issue with the turbo lag or getting up and going. However, I do have the wind noise issue. In fact, I've had the cheap window seal on the driver's side replaced 3 times now. Another thing contributing to the wind noise is that any truck below a Limited has additional door seals missing that help mitigate wind noise. Although I don't use my truck for work, I do use it to tow a 3500 lb trailer monthly, camping, loading bikes, and hauling my kids around. If I didn't tow, I'd probably consider trading for a 5th gen 4runner. It lacks the power and refinement the Tundra has, but I know it'll last and be reliable. The fit and finish on these Tundras has me doubting the durability/reliability. I hope I'm wrong. Y'all missng your 4runner at all?
Watching this video now trying out decide if I should trade my 4runner 5th gen for the trd sport 4x4 I tow a 3500 lbs boat once a week 4runner is sluggish
I have a loaded '23 1794 with two mirrors and the only wind noise is slight coming from the mirrors. The truck is quiet. My experience is that the engine revs quickly but the truck just takes off with little turbo lag. Use sport mode, if you have it, to increase throttle response. MPGs can be basically whatever you want depending on how you drive and the conditions. I can get anywhere from 15 to 22 mpgs. My complaints would be few because i really love my truck
I am a fan of the old Tundra and had hopes for the new ones but so far not impressed by any of the reviews that other channels have done. An F150 Eco boost or even a 5.0 litre would be a better option for a work truck in my opinion.
I agree with the volume knob. I actually hate that the screen is completely touch screen without any physical buttons. I did not notice any wind noise until I added in channel rain deflectors. I was coming from a 17' Tacoma though, and the wind noise on that thing was TERRIBLE. When I drove the Tundra the first thing I said as how quiet it was. My biggest complaint is with how loud the bed is when you hit a bump. I always think something is loose, but it's the composite bed just flexing.
So your biggest gripe is that when you use the key fob to remote start the Tundra, it shuts off when you open the door and you'd have to get in and hit the start button to drive. When you use the remote start with the app it stays on, but you STILL have to hit the start button before you can drive, so not sure why this would bother you so much. I'd be WAY more unhappy with the radar being affected by the slightest bit of snow, and continually clearing it just to have it happen again. I don't understand why Toyota makes it so that you can only lock the rear diff in 4 Lo; THAT is a big mistake on Toyota's part and should definitely have been addressed by the engineers at Toyota! Sounds to me like you'll be trading it in soon for a new F150!
Just got a 2025 hybrid in this. I wish it had the storage under the seats that the non/hybrid has. Or at least storage compartments in the bed like the titan and ram. The remote start is stupid. It’s been like that at least since I owned my 2014 tundra. After pressing that stupid fob with some Morse code and finally getting it started, it would shut off when I touched the door handle. A lot of people slept on the Titan but those trucks were way ahead of Toyota on these issues. The remote start would stay running, then you’d just push the brake and press start again and you were ready to go. But I will say I love the modernization of the tundra compared to the prior gen. The tundra was i desperate need of a complete makeover. Btw I’m getting 15.2 mpg on new tundra. Got 14 on old one The adaptive sensor shutting off with snow isn’t new to these models. Same thing would happen to my 2019 sequoia. I asked the service guy about it. He said “would you rather it not tell you and give you a false sense that it’s working in bad weather while you’re cruising at 70mph?” Point taken.
Legit question. Why do you need to start it remotely at all? Is it because of the cold there or something? I’ve never personally needed to start a car before I get in it to drive, so I’m not getting it. PS I do live in hot Australia
Where on earth do you live that it's perfectly comfortable all year? I might want to live there lol! He's in Canada. Any place where you actually have a cold winter you like to have the frost covering windows thawed out so you can see out. Also, it's nice to not have to freeze for the first 10-15 minutes of your ride. Also, anywhere where you have triple digit highs in the summer, it's literally like sitting in an oven until the A/C can cool down the cabin. That's where remote start is awesome to hav in the summer.
Hey man, could you do a video on how it cmpares to an f150.....power, shifting, road noise, comfort handling etc. I have an f150 now and have thought about switching it up. Thanks
I hate the vibration noise at 1600 rpm in my 2024 SR5 Crewmax 4X4 TRD Offroad. I hate the flimsy plastic. Most of all....i hate the screen infotainment system. Give me a radio and a way to plug in my smartphone. Thats all. No telling how much more it cost to outfit them with touch screens. I do like the towing features like electric brake control system for trailer brakes. The torque at low rpm is outstanding. Gaining speed going up a steep hill at 1800 rpm is impressive. I towed a loaded dump trailer with 8000 pounds total weight. I honestly think it handles that dump trailer better than my 2008 Limited Crewmax did.
Been watching your Tundras videos , excellent , finally have a 24' Tundra Limited w TRD pkg. that is very identical to your wife's Tundra that is coming in a few weeks. In one of your videos you were installing running boards & I think you ended up putting them on your wife's truck. But I was wanted to know which ones you got & if they were Toyota ones . Also need a manual bed step . If you could tell me which running boards you got for one or both of your Tundras , send me the info specs on them. Also which video shows the running boards . Keep up the great videos.
I use a horse stall mat in the bed of my truck. $50 for a 4x6 at tractor supply. It’s much thicker and cheaper than a bed mat. Only downside is it does go around the wheel wells
I love my 21 sr5, it was last one in my town...have only 35 thousand on it, runs like a dream. Put carven exhaust on it to give it little rumble, and with new michelin defender tires and it sooo nice. One dislike is the fuel, but i knew that before buying this truck
I think everything newer looks fancier, but it's actually cheaper made, while costing a fortune. My '10 Tundra serves me just fine, being retired, but I realize when you buy a work truck, you look for one that offers minimum issues, and solid service. Toyota should pay attention to good reviews like this, and work on addressing the issues. Stay warm Tyson.
I plan on doing a rear seat delete and building a flip-up cover for the storage area for my 100 lb Pittie/Mastiff; he's the only family I live with and goes with me pretty much everywhere! My 4 DR '22 Bronco is perfect for him (the rear seats have been folded down since I got it and nobody has ever sat in them), but I do miss the utility of a truck, and it's either the Tundra or Taco for me!
I think what Toyota had on mind for the remote start. Say you were at home or in a hotel. You remote start the truck to warm it up. When you open the door, truck stops. Nobody could steal it and drive off. All you have to do is get in and start. Truck already warm and was not stolen. Just hit the button. Sounds like a pain when you are in the middle of nowhere. What if you are in a big city where car theft was a problem. You might think different.
Good job and video Brother. I would get the Decked Cargo system. Man I would say the F350 Platinum and the 450 and 550 and the other 350 sounds a whole lot better than the Toyota’s. Just trade it in for a Ford Raptor R
I feel Toyota really missed the mark with this Tundra. It legit seems like a rushed design even though it took 14 years to happen. Really disappointing honestly.
I don't think you understand. I have a 24 limited trd OF. All the things he mentioned are very minor. And some of them are subjective or can be fixed. This truck is amazing and drives like a champ. You won't know until you drive it yourself.
Yeah, you right that knob should’ve been a little bigger cause man’s got big hands that is for little kid sometimes people that make shit don’t think at all
Try sport mode it makes it a lil more aggressive and if you want really aggressive put it in 4hi sand mode. Which I don’t understand why it only happens in this mode
The new tundra has many issues you discussed. Including poor build quality around door sills. I literally looked at one in the showroom and the gasket was peeling off the door.
Well now I am missing my old 5.7 Tundra. Think it was maybe a 2018 or so. That thing was a tank and drove like a 1 Ton! Guess I'm getting old and weak. Traded it. Should have kept it.
I can use my lockers i n 2 wheel thats the best thing when i take off traction i can have fun with it. Ecoboost been around for almost 20 years like 18 years .i have a 2014 got it new have 130thousand mph on her .
My milage on my 1794 Hybrid which I have had for about a year and a half now. City is about 16.5. Highway is about 20 to 21. Talking about turbo lag. Do not pull out in front of someone with a hybrid on electric power and expect it to just take off like a V-8. Electric has to go to gas, turbos have to spool up and then you burn rubber. That is very fast but not like a normal V-8. 1 Second lag. If I need to jump into traffic with the hybrid, I power break for just a split second to get the motor running off electric and hit the gas. Turbos kick in good. Man does the 437 H.P. kick in hard. Put the 1794 in sport mode, HANG ON !!!!!!!!!
The issue when you almost stopped and then went and showed the rpm’s up is annoying to me and what the transmission is doing is taking off in 3rd gear. If you don’t come to a complete stop it doesn’t downshift to 1st gear. Manually force it to 1st and it’s much better. Also tow/haul mode will make it better. I hope there’s a flash to fix this as it drives me nuts as who comes to a complete stop before you go again? Not me
I won't agree to the spyware, so I won't get the complementary few years of telematics. To me it doesn't offer remote start. I won't subscribes to something I 'own'. I would pay to have better tires on day 1.
They should copy from the Honda Ridgeline. Leg supports are integrated with the seat. Lift the seat and the supports come up with it and fold flat into bottom of the seat leaving a flat floor. I have a 2021 Tundra and been holding off for the first revision of the new body style hoping they address some of these issues. I'm largely disappointed with the new Tundra even though I like a lot about it. Too much plastic to include front and rear bumpers and more. Won't buy another brand as I think they all have quality / reliability issues. I'll just hang onto my 21 until Toyota improves the Tundra.
I love my 24 Tundra. I am not a real man though, I get my food from a grocery store, buy lumber at the lumber yard, and use electric tools as opposed to hand powered ones.
Do you think a good automotive computer guy could go into the system and alter some of the things you don't like or turn things off so stupid warnings don't keep popping up ?
#1. It stops because it was a safety issue #2. Get a tool box. Train your dogs to sit in the seats like us humans. (Jk) #3. My Tundra has spray in liner from factory. But every truck I've owned has a slick bed. Go to your local tractor supply and get the stable mats. They're thick and cheap. And again, get a tool box. #4. SR5 AND SR have small screens. Limited and above have big screens with big knobs. #5. But how heavy is the F150 compared to the Tundra? #6. My Tundra acts like it has a built in pedal commander. Weird that yours does that. I have to tip toe the gas pedal from a stop or I'm zooming. #7 we don't have snow in South Ga so.....can't help ya there my guy.
Idk what they cost exactly but my father has one it’s a limited ext cab and I think it was around 57k my 22 350 kr was 66 but I went with the 7.3 with 4.30 besides the ride and the 14 mpg I think it’s a better buy how come being a ford guy you just didn’t go to a gas super duty and still be able to tow a little bit more
Great video this truck is not for you. you work on tons of dirt roads it’s to low to the ground the storage in back seat is outdated. This truck is not made for work. Look you can get pretty much your money back sell it and purchase the new F-150 with the 5.0? peace brother
That’s not a pickup. To plush, small box, wrong engine, all kinds of electronics that are useless. To expensive, high maintenance costs, all of this crap is by design. A pickup truck should carry at least 3000 lbs.
Lets be honest, you probably knew about a lot of these problems before you bought it. Most of us research You Tube before setting down 70 grand on a Truck.
Include the known flaw that the design to not properly lubricate and as a result engine failure occurs due to spun bearings Including the 2024..look on line. Before warranty expires get rid of it. I currently own three Toyotas 21 tundra 2015 rav 4 and 22 corolla hatch..I love Toyota except they failed me in2006 and 2007 on two Toyotas with bad cylinder rings. The 21 Tundra I had to install a trans cooler as Toyota deleted them in 2019. Watch “ The car guy } The death of the legend about the new Tundra
😅😅😅😅 good job saying that wonder who said something really wonder how you said it the other way without anyone in Canada helping you out bud.i wonder if all Canadians say it like that ?

That's what I would recommend too was the 3.0L Duramax 1500. 25-30 mpg and at least 18 mpg towing.
Don't forget to add def cost to that number.

Good job and video Brother. I would get the Decked Cargo system. Man I would say the F350 Platinum and the 450 and 550 and the other 350 sounds a whole lot better than the Toyota’s. Just trade it in for a Ford Raptor R
Man that was so funny watching u turn the volume up and down wow such a small dial wow so funny
How was your f150 transmission? Overall reliability?
Yup
Stick to 2nd gen V8's, not EPA-gutted 3rd gen v6's.
Hey man, how has it been so far?
Pretty good
Yeah, you right that knob should’ve been a little bigger cause man’s got big hands that is for little kid sometimes people that make shit don’t think at all
Try sport mode it makes it a lil more aggressive and if you want really aggressive put it in 4hi sand mode. Which I don’t understand why it only happens in this mode
The new tundra has many issues you discussed. Including poor build quality around door sills. I literally looked at one in the showroom and the gasket was peeling off the door.
Is the app free?
Well now I am missing my old 5.7 Tundra. Think it was maybe a 2018 or so. That thing was a tank and drove like a 1 Ton! Guess I'm getting old and weak. Traded it. Should have kept it.
Hello my friend, thank for another great video, have a great weekend my friend,😄👍🌹
Video starts @2:12 your welcome
I can use my lockers i n 2 wheel thats the best thing when i take off traction i can have fun with it. Ecoboost been around for almost 20 years like 18 years .i have a 2014 got it new have 130thousand mph on her .
One thing i don’t like is the heater vents in the front don’t blow hard.
I’ve noticed that when the engine shuts off at a stoplight, the heater starts blowing cold air.
💕💕
@@eddelamotte4248 the world is made for you then
I can’t wait to see what tires/wheels/lift you do on this… hurry up!!!
Wait a minute !
Are you saying the carbon tax didn't stop global warming, or climate change, or even the next ice age ?!? 😯🤔😜
Trade that thing in for my 2019 F250 lariat! its at MacPhee Ford right now lol.
I agree with your #1. It's so stupid. All Toyota's do this EXCEPT the new 2024 Tacomas
Do you think a good automotive computer guy could go into the system and alter some of the things you don't like or turn things off so stupid warnings don't keep popping up ?
I’m sure I can find a obd2 plug in device to change some of this
it would be cool if you start it and it drives to meet you where your standing
#1. It stops because it was a safety issue
#2. Get a tool box. Train your dogs to sit in the seats like us humans. (Jk)
Look at the positive side mate you’ve a truck but a lot of people dream about third world problems
I remembered #6 for ya, it's ugly! 😂
Extremely.
It won’t be soon
They should have kept the v8 design. Atleast they should have made a diesel version v8.
Idk what they cost exactly but my father has one it’s a limited ext cab and I think it was around 57k my 22 350 kr was 66 but I went with the 7.3 with 4.30 besides the ride and the 14 mpg I think it’s a better buy how come being a ford guy you just didn’t go to a gas super duty and still be able to tow a little bit more
90-$100k here for a7.3 superduty
Great video this truck is not for you. you work on tons of dirt roads it’s to low to the ground the storage in back seat is outdated. This truck is not made for work. Look you can get pretty much your money back sell it and purchase the new F-150 with the 5.0? peace brother
It won’t be low to the ground soon
Have you thought about just going ahead and getting rid of it now. Cut your losses and go back to a super duty? Just a thought.
Nope
Why not
Doesn’t seem like this is a good fit for you
I am making a likes video lol. I don’t hate the truck
that's not a work truck bud my 70 year old dad has one 😂
Stay tuned and we will see how it holds up
I test drove a few 2024 tundras idk if its just me but i find the visability is garbage out of the front window, i feel like its to short.
I'm hearing there starting to have problems with the motors.
You are complaining your seat support is to strong? Understand the hump.
LOL "it's thick but it's flimsy...but it's thick"
Yeah but it's flimsy.
I don’t know why you made big deal about it 🤦♀️
About what?
You right about that flat floor because the floor is not flat I would not buy the truck I like the truck but that floor is a dealbreaker sorry
Include the known flaw that the design to not properly lubricate and as a result engine failure occurs due to spun bearings
Including the 2024..look on line.
Yeah I’m curious to see how it works out
But you were not any further away with the app.also my2020 and my 2022 dont start ot lock unlock from very far away
The app will work from half way across or all the way across the country
Tundra haters rejoice at these little nothing issues. We'll see what happens with the first year Ram next year.
😅😅😅😅 good job saying that wonder who said something really wonder how you said it the other way without anyone in Canada helping you out bud.i wonder if all Canadians say it like that ?
That’s not anything to complain about . About all vehicles have things people don’t like. If you don’t like those things go back to a Ford.
“Fanboy”
How can it be an sr5 and a trd off road? I'm so done with Toyota- the new ones just suck
@@josephchiarello11 trd off road is a package
All that money spent and can’t have a functioning remote start. Lol that’s why I bought a gmc sierra originally.
Since Toyota only updates its trucks every 15 years….just hold out for those fixes 😂🤣😂
🤣
Carbon tax, can you take some time to talk about it?
Should have got a ford son
Toyota always makes one suffer to own😅
I will never own a Toyota truck.
His my suggestion go buy a Ford or a GM truck and drive that for 15,000 km see what happens lol
$$$$$$$
A 5/8 thick horse trailer pad is the best thing for it you have to cut out the wheel wells but nothing moves around and they're cheap
