@@elton._. Hey Elton, if you're completely new to music production then I would recommend checking out GarageBand. It's like Logic with training wheels.
@Velveteen Friday Hi mate. The video doesn't cover it, but you need to do some gain staging before the sounds hit the faders. If you drop down the 'mix' menu you can select pre-fader metering. The conventional wisdom is you want everything to be coming in at -18DB average, with the peaks hitting around -12b. This not only gives you a ton of headroom but means your plugins work at optimal level, with the faders zero'ed, which is where they work best. You can tame levels with the Utility plug in. Just have that first in your chain on each channel. BTW, I thought this was all snake oil until I tried it. Just google gain staging.
I would say it was great for beginners, although a beginner may ask things like “how do you know what your EQ changes will sound like before you’ve heard them” or “what does compression do?” - I appreciate its difficult to cover these as you go, but maybe touch on them, real briefly?

I just appreciate the time you take. I'm learning and I'm from the old school but having all of this stuff in one place on the computer is crazy. Wish it was around in my day.
Thank you for the tutorial. I followed your steps. I been having problems with getting good balance between drums and my other sounds. Starting with mixing the drums first made a lot of sense. My new song is sounding better already. Just subscribed to your channel. Logic is a very good program to learn for home studio artist.
@@MR.FREEDMAN Hi Brian from US Delaware I have a new song ready for all platforms I was looking for some help with letting someone mix and master for my original song. I been following your steps I would still like to get another person to help take my music up to the next level. Let me know if you would be able to help out for a fair price and lets see what can happen with my new song Thanks for your time and actually responding happy new year.
@B.A. Mazed Hey, I would love to help. I love working with new artists. Mixing and music engineering is not an easy thing. I can message you through UA-cam. I have a very broad ear (Rock, HipHop, Metal, Pop) so I can "do the job" but if your willing, I can suggest some production updates to the mix. I promise it will not be priced too high.

Hello Brian, for some reason my response message keeps blocking. I replied twice. I think it might be because I'm including an email. Do you have an IG account, or any other social media user ID?
Hey Charles, I just started your mixing tutorial! I am clearly a beginner in that I've been recording my songs for only seven months now and for the five I'd been using GarageBand and your tutorials got me started. For the last two months I've graduated to Logic and I can't believe how exciting it is to learn how to go through the mixing process and how much is actually available in Logic Pro. I know this sounds corny but I'd be lost without your well articulated discussions. I've got a song with about 20 tracks so organizing the material has been essential. I'm only about 12 minutes in but with note taking and trying out what your sharing it has taken quite a bit of time. I'm looking forward to studying the rest of your tutorial. I can't thank you enough!
Hey Joel, very happy to hear your feedback as this is a new tutorial so thank you! I hope to help you with your logic journey. Lots more videos to come this year!
Fantastic tutorial Charles! I really appreciate it. I watched your intro tutorial to Logic Pro and that same night I was able to create my first composition using your tips. I just watched this tutorial on mixing and it was incredibly useful. As a beginner, it was easy to follow along, so I want to thank you again for this. Cheers.
I've listened to about 8 hours of your videos the past 2 days, including this one. Four words: I - Get - It - Now. I've been doing a lot of this in GB already, but it was really helpful to see it done in Logic since I'm moving in that direction. And, it taught me not to fear Logic after all. Thanks, man.
Hi Charles, this tutorial is exactly what I have been looking for. Your explanation using both apple and fabfilter vst's is a really great asset in learning mixing in Logic Pro X. I will check out your other tutorials on UA-cam. Thank you I learned a lot with this tutorial.
Such an interesting video and the fact that you go over the same things multiple times helps me learn. I will watch this a few times more cause I know i'll pick up more. Thank you for breaking this down and helping me to understand! 🥰
Hi Charles! During COVID lockdowns I decided to explore electronic music and DIY recording. I'm a swamp blues rocker on accordeon and keys, so it's a real adventure. Your video is great, looking over your shoulder to your workflow and explainations. I (un)learn a lot! 🙂
Mann! This was a gem....thank you and yes theoretical is fine but to see you apply the tools is definitely more engaging for me. But overall thank you for this!!!
I would literally say that you make the best beginners video .....I started using Logic through your videos ..now I'm watching this video you make it clear and cool ,,,,Thanks a ton
what mixing wont do is fix a bad song, OMFG!!!!! i died. that was soooo shady and soooo good. I am stalking you know GURU, lol! This tutorial is sooo good. Thanks again... saved my life twice now.
This tutorial was EXACTLY what I needed to help me take some foggy theoretical knowledge about mixing in logic and translate that into real practice! A perfect bedrock to build off of, thank you so much!
Thanks so much for this tutorial. Its been really helpful. I've been in studios for years but am trying to figure out the ropes on my own now. Huge learning curve. Thanks again!
This was super helpful and I'm looking forward to putting these lessons into practice. I think I'm somewhere between beginner and intermediate, trying to find that next "jump" in skill level, and this helped me confirm some thoughts about beginner skills while giving me new things to try. Thanks!
I liked it. The very last one was difficult for me to understand, but I liked the style. I'm more intermediate in and that I've been watching my sound engineer do a few tracks. I learned several things, thanks.
Don't know if someone else might have addressed the issue of converting all midi and instrument tracks to audio. How important is that? Or is it a preference thing? And I know there are instances when you need to retain midi data, depending on what's on the track. Please address mixing in midi vs. bouncing everything to audio! Like so many of the others, I'm going to stick with watching your videos and stop going from one instructor to another. That's a sure fire way to never really get anywhere in this vast world of music production. Thanks for all you show us.
Great lecture as always! You really know how to present all the important information in a meaningful and interesting way. You deserve so much more subscribers. Thank you for all your knowledge and music.

Appreciate all your efforts for making this useful tutorial. I just listened to it today . I hope you can focus more on Vocal editing and mixing in another tutorial.
Thank you. Charles, I think that you did a good job mostly explainin' the whole process in a linear and ordered way. The only thing I'm a bit disappointed with is the compression regulation... I just saw that you tend to set the attack very fast (when not at its fastest possibility) especially on kick drums, and slower release. For what I understood and experienced so far, mostly with percussive sounds, it works better exactly the other way around: slow attack and fast release in order to not kill music dynamic and let wether the punch and the air at the same time. Sorry for my english, I'm Italian :) hope you got it and that it makes sense to you... Best regards!
Thank you so much for doing this brother. Very helpful, especially the Automation part. And is it possible to do a video about panning? Really appreciate your effort :)

exactly... more so just where everything is sitting in the mix.. not necessarily overall loudness. just how instruments compare to one another.
