Great job, Charles! Thank you for sharing this amazing list of production tips with your subscribers and the world. It was a time-consuming task, and I appreciate your effort.
Yes 🙌🏻 huge fan of using guitar pedals on pianos and synth - I have a whole board dedicated solely for this purpose, and I use them every time ❤ You can get some amazing textures. I have the big sky, and I also recommend the timeline (strymon) and also the microcosm by Hologram- this one is super experimental 😊
My best production tip? FRESH EARS, man. It is Amazing how different the 6 hours I worked on today will sound tomorrow morning when I put on the headphones. Can't tell you how many scathingly brilliant ideas I've come up with on Wednesday afternoon that Thursday morning I say, "That sucks! What on earth were you thinking!, Zabloski?" Delete. Great advice here for noobs, and good reminders for mid-journeymen. Thanks!
Fantastic video, Charles. I’m so new to all of this and it’s quite overwhelming at first, so your videos really help. I know with practice things will get more fluent. Do you recommend bouncing all midi to audio for all tracks in a project? Is there any advantage to going ALL audio?
Bouncing MIDI to audio for all tracks can be a good move depending on how you like to work. It can lighten your CPU load, make your project more stable, and push you to make decisions quicker. Plus, it's easier to manage and transfer audio files. But, it does mean committing to sounds and arrangements, and you lose some flexibility for making changes. So, it's a trade-off between efficiency and flexibility. Some producers love it, others prefer keeping things in MIDI for more wiggle room.
I've been on your website and it's brilliant. Ive lost a lot of data on my iPad so have decided to buy the Crucial external storage you recommended. You mentioned that it was important to format it for OS language or something? Sorry but I'm a complete fool when it comes to that. How would I go about it? Also, on iPad you can't save your files as a package as you described. I've tried copying and pasting them on an external drive but then I can't reopen them so I'm not sure how to actually SAVE a security copy. Please help! 🙏

It happens to me that I like the things I didn't like before. I keep them anyway, and it's not good.
