Hello, 6 years after the review. I am a Toyota technician and own a 2014 LX570 Instead of air suspension as mentioned. it uses an electric/hydraulic system and is called active height control, unlike the GX models that have an onboard air compressor. You must drive a wide variety of vehicles, just curious why you chose a Jag. My buddy bought a F type and said it was the worst car he ever owned. Always in the shop. And that is a guy coming from Cadillac's. So that is saying allot, lol. 37 years turning wrenches on Yota's and sometimes I really felt like the Maytag repair man because they never broke. OF course I only saw the ones that did. Thanks for the review, it was informative and well donw.
Everyone that I have ever known that has owned a Jag has hated it. From burning down in driveways to $1000s in simple repairs. This going back for 45 years.
Fair review. In terms of offroad capabilities, Lexus LX and Range Rover/ Land Rover are the best SUVs. However, in terms of overall package, Lexus LX stands above Range Rover/ Land Rover because of its durability and reliability.
I keep coming back to this video for reference. One of the things I like about this stealth Land Cruiser is the parts availability anywhere in the world. Be it your in Africa, Saudi Arabia, Australia or running through the rugged mountains of Poland back to Afghanistan you'll be able to get parts. One of the only vehicles with the universal language. The more I learn about the Land Cruiser more respect to have for it and it's twin brother that lx570. From the United Nations to the Special Operations Command of the United States to mining companies the Land Cruiser is the ONLY vehicle that's trusted. Not Range Rover. I'm going to buy this vehicle.
These are beast, reliability is a 10. The Landcruiser Twin Lexus LX570 in a Tuxedo. Both will last 500k to 600k miles or more. Range Rover couldn't come close.
So I’m currently looking at a 2015 LX with low miles I really like it. However 228 mile range on nearly a full tank ? Sheesh don’t know if I’ll be ok with that
Hi Alex, can you please do a guide on how to adjust the correct driving postures? I always feel uncomfortable while driving. You always review driver headroom and 2 inches seems to be generous from you.
Well, this usually depends on your body shape and preferences, but in general I try to adjust to a more upright posture. Your steering wheel should be close enough that arms straight out your wrists are at the wheel level (hands farther forward) and your legs should be able to both be flat on the floorboards behind the pedals. That said, there are several cars that I was never able to get comfortable in, but other people find just fine.
Man, thank you for doing such a great job on your videos. Have you ever thought of reviewing motorcycles. There is a void on UA-cam regarding trike motorcycles. You can call your channel Dykes on Trikes. Think about it man. It's an untapped market.
I don't like the new grill , the old grill looks better in my opinion. You say it is an AWD yet on your screen it says 4WD. Which is it? I don't like AWD.
Excellent analysis. Thanks. How does a LX570 compare to a Tundra 4x4 off-road ability and on road comfort? I am cross shopping in California a SUV vs. pickup for forest road week long camping, winter skiing, family trips and household utility as well as daily driver.
According to the paperwork from Lexus it was a 2015. But manufacturer provided cars can sometimes have a jumble of options and I have seen paint color oddities like this before.
HowTo LetsPlay I'm not sure what you mean. Lexus said no changes were made to the interior or exterior or engine. 2015 simply adds Enform App Suite, iHeart Radio and Siri Eyes Free. 2016 will bring more changes however.
I would want a cigarette lighter and ashtray in all 3 rows front I would want an in dash ashtray and door mounted ashtray for the second row and arm mounted for 3rd row and cigarette lighter for them also
It was a touch decision but I was being pulled in too many different directions to make the LA Auto Show work this year. On the flip side, hopefully I will be able to get my hands on the new Murano for a full review early next year.
Also, what tires & wheels for poorly maintained forest service mountain fire roads (rocks, ruts, dirt, mud,) as well as road use? Second question, what tires on these wheels for severe winter mountain conditions where studs aren't allowed?
Alex how tall are you...do I recall correctly from a previous video 6'? I ask because I am very interested in this vehicle but concerned about driver side headroom and legroom. At 6'4" I find most Lexus and Toyotas unfortunately lacking in these areas...disappointing. Thoughts...anyone? Thank you! .
Good question. In terms of best overall MPG and C02 emissions among the car manufacturers, from 2012 to 2014, the EPA ranked Toyota/Lexus #6, behind Mazda, Honda, Subaru, Nissan and Volkswagen. Despite having many hybrid vehicles in their line-up, their trucks and SUVs bring the averages down, like this LX570, Toyota Sequoia and Land Cruiser.
if you bought Jaguar sedan by your own will, you should not be reviewing any other cars. (Period- end of story). I would not trust your the review of the cheapest bicycle out of Walmart.
Nobel Spinel Mica or any shade of red was not available for 2015 in the USA. Unless you have an import, that is not a 2015, per the 2015 LX brochure available online from Lexus colors offered are only Onyx black. Starfire Pearl white, Nebula gray, Silver Lining Metallic. and Satin Cashmere metallic. I stopped watching at the point you said "air." The AHC on the LX570 is an engineering masterpiece.
In 20 years, this will be one of the most laughed at dinosaurs of a vehicle from the early teens. It basically does nothing well, and costs a small fortune. Seriously; 12mpg? 80 grand? Nuts. For the price, I think I'd rather have a Wrangler for off road, a Mustang for fast stuff, and a Honda Fit for putting around town.
I dig what you are saying, but it just seems like a silly mission: off road luxury that's grocery getter cushy. Granted, that's the same mission as the Range Rover, but that's a truly premium vehicle, not a gussied up Taco.
Yeah they will be laughed at because a lot of them will still be on the road in 20 years still mechanically sound while all of the 20 year old Range Rovers will have been in the junk yard for years. Just Saying
MROW1997 This is kind of true, and kind of false. Known traits of Toyotas: 1. Prone to serious rust. The first gen Tundras were actually recalled for rust through frames. Nice. 2. Poor fuel economy. Crazy but true. Look at their fleet across the board. Look at the FJ Cruiser. Other than Prius and Corolla, most Toyotas are gas pigs compared the competition. Look it up! 3. Non-competitive styling. Such a conservative company is often a generation behind the curve in features and modernity. Witness the Tacoma. It's actually a joke compared to the new Colorado. Ditto with the Tundra. Even the OLD F150 was superior to the Tundra. Not that Toyotas are "bad" vehicles, but they sell off their reputation from 20-30 years ago. The Detroit 3 DON'T sell off their bad reputation from 20-30 years ago. And our collective opinion of something like a Range Rover is also probably 20-30 years out of date, along with Jag, Fiat, etc. These, of course, are just my opinions. I welcome discussion.
Arslan Khalid It's very true what you say. But I think the Lexus was built EXPRESSLY for the US market. The African and Asian types you mention would either buy the Land Cruiser version, or they'd buy a Range Rover, or a real pickup truck. The super rich wouldn't slum it in the Lexus (RR, Porsche, G wagon, new Bently SUV coming and new Lambo too). Nope; this behemoth is made solely for Rodeo Drive and upscale soccer moms. What you also hint at is very true; in America there's no good reason to buy this when you are spoiled for choice in 4x4 vehicles. For perhaps 20grand less, you could have a top of the line diesel 4 door pickup with 850 ft/lbs of torque, better mileage, air suspension, tows 30,000, and on and on. Conclusion: you're paying for the Lexus badge.
***** get a wrangler and crash then it blow your head off with that 4star euro ncap safety rating, get a mustang then it will break in couple of years, get a honda fit and it doesn't fit 8 people, so ?
Just a note on the suspension. It's actually a hydraulic system, not air.
Just noticed after I posted that you caught that as well.
when i saw this comment i was thinking like a slip up not every time saying its air...
Thank you!
Word.
HCS stands for Hella Cash System!

amen to that
Solid take
Absolutely loving mine. If you're reading this debating on getting one.. Just do it!
I just got one...pearl white on tan...love it
Thinking of getting one this week. Hows the mpg for you? Lol
The best review of this vehicle I have seen. The comparisons to other vehicles in this class is very helpful.
Finally someone reviews the third row seating...thumbs up from me.👍🏾
I keep coming back to this video for reference. One of the things I like about this stealth Land Cruiser is the parts availability anywhere in the world. Land Cruiser beats the Lexus 570 in my opinion.
You earned a Sub, I don’t know if you work sales but if you do I hope your UA-cam Chanel drastically boosts the amount of units you send out the door.
man! as a car reviewer enthusiast. you're top 5! awesome work man
These are beast, reliability is a 10. The Landcruiser Twin Lexus LX570 in a Tuxedo. Both will last 500k to 600k miles or more. Range Rover couldn't come close.
"The middle passenger is straddling a crack on 2 different seats" Alex, you're too funny!!!
nice review and hope more like this especially for lx 2016
So I’m currently looking at a 2015 LX with low miles I really like it. However 228 mile range on nearly a full tank ? Sheesh don’t know if I’ll be ok with that
Very eloquent and well versed in product and competition
The Lexus LX has had hydraulic suspension (AHC) since 1998
Air Suspension??? No Sir its hydraulic. These things are indestructible. The Terminator on wheels!
Lexus IS the best luxury car
Air suspension?? Ohhh lord.... how could you get that wrong?
Great in depth review! Exactly what I was looking for.
Alex's!! always enjoy all of your videos. Especially this one!!! Looking to get the 2015 in the next year.
Do the third and second row seats come off ????
Hi Alex, can you please do a guide on how to adjust the correct driving postures? I always feel uncomfortable while driving. You always review driver headroom and 2 inches seems to be generous from you.

Thank you for the reply!!!
Great review!!
“$8500 more in terms of fuel per year than …an Rx.”
I know it’s thirsty. But not that thirsty.
Should be $850 ;)
Thanks for a great review, as usual.
Man, thank you for doing such a great job on your videos. Have you ever thought of reviewing motorcycles. There is a void on UA-cam regarding trike motorcycles. You can call your channel Dykes on Trikes. Think about it man. It's an untapped market.
Where would you plug trailer lights on this car
$8,500 a year in fuel? That's $708 a month in gas. At 14 mpg avg $2.50 a gallon, that's 47,600 miles driven every year. Seems excessive.
Great review. Thanks!
This car does not have air suspension.
I don't like the new grill , the old grill looks better in my opinion. You say it is an AWD yet on your screen it says 4WD. Which is it? I don't like AWD.
Noo, it uses hydraulic fluid for the suspension. Change the fluid at decent intervals and the suspension will last the life of the truck.
Do they made manual lexus Lx570?
Yeah....it doesn't have air suspension. It has HYDRAULIC suspension. You should know that if you expect people to take you seriously
Excellent analysis. Thanks. How does a LX570 compare to a Tundra 4x4 off-road ability and on road comfort? I am cross shopping in California a SUV vs. pickup for forest road week long camping, winter skiing, family trips and household utility as well as daily driver.
What did you end up getting?
In stock form the LX570 will run circles around a Tundra offroad.
Hi Alex, where is this off road trail located?
Hi Alex, I was wondering will you be attending the Auto Show at S.F. Moscone Center this Thanksgiving week?
I was there on Friday at the media preview, but I'm probably not going to go back.
My neighbor has this whale of a truck and she loves it
At 199" in length I don't get how that third row feels so tight while a Toyota Sienna is close to that same length at 200".
rubiks15
Thanks.
So the LX had air suspension before the 2016 refresh changed to hydraulic? Interesting...
They really ruined it in 2016. I'm watching this in 2023 because I want to buy this year, since it's the last good year.
Great details.
Anyway to get 2017 or 2018 update?
How hard is it to remove that third row entirely? We have no need.
Do a review for the new viper (GTS is preferred )
Hmm... I question whether that was the 2014 or 2015 model. According to the Lexus website, that exterior color isn't available for 2015.
According to the paperwork from Lexus it was a 2015. But manufacturer provided cars can sometimes have a jumble of options and I have seen paint color oddities like this before.
Alex on Autos no only that the 2015 interior is completely different
HowTo LetsPlay I'm not sure what you mean. Lexus said no changes were made to the interior or exterior or engine. 2015 simply adds Enform App Suite, iHeart Radio and Siri Eyes Free. 2016 will bring more changes however.
Alex on Autos
idk how but here in dubai the interior is differnet idk try searching on google images 2015 lexus lx interior
I would want a cigarette lighter and ashtray in all 3 rows front I would want an in dash ashtray and door mounted ashtray for the second row and arm mounted for 3rd row and cigarette lighter for them also
great review!!!!
Such an incredible car. I wish I could afford one.
grab it used...
Alex, i'm from the bay too and i was wondering where were you during the off-road drive?
It's a private course in the Santa Cruz Mountains.
I will own one like this
Alex, why aren't you in the LA auto show ? I was hoping you had an opinion on the new Nissan Murano 2015.
It was a touch decision but I was being pulled in too many different directions to make the LA Auto Show work this year. On the flip side, hopefully I will be able to get my hands on the new Murano for a full review early next year.
Alex on Autos Will you be at Detroit in January?
Elliott Manning
It is still too early to tell, but I hope so.
will you ever review a new 2015 navigator?
I hope so, but I don't have any dates yet.
Also, what tires & wheels for poorly maintained forest service mountain fire roads (rocks, ruts, dirt, mud,) as well as road use? Second question, what tires on these wheels for severe winter mountain conditions where studs aren't allowed?

.
Great review, I got a question about the LX570. What is it's Maximum ground clearance please?
Whoa, Alex can teleport? 😁
does the 2nd row recline?
Yes they do
12/17 MPG is "relatively low"? No. That is PATHETIC. And how the hell does that "escape the gas guzzler tax"?!?!
Good question. In terms of best overall MPG and C02 emissions among the car manufacturers, from 2012 to 2014, the EPA ranked Toyota/Lexus #6, behind Mazda, Honda, Subaru, Nissan and Volkswagen. You mean like the Ford Excursion? Lol.
What is the reliability score of LX570 compared to the Range Rover?
A F A
LX570: 9.8/10
Range Rover: 0.0000000001/10
like yr demonstration
Before the front grills got ugly
if you bought Jaguar sedan by your own will, you should not be reviewing any other cars. (Period- end of story). I would not trust your the review of the cheapest bicycle out of Walmart.
Hyd, not air suspension
Electro hydraulic.....not air suspension
Lol, I could do that "off road course" in a Ferrari but yes, good review. No need for low range, lol.
That made me laugh..."nosebleed section".
For family joy...
im so pissed i was unsubscrived from your channel i cannot believe it i didnt watch your videos in years wtffff i think google unsubscribed me
Glad you found us again!
you should review the Range Rover

a+++

Alex on Autos That's what his girlfriend just told him.
+WHO9119 lol
Where you dropped when you where a child

Air suspension? Nothing worse than a clueless reviewer.
