This video is a blessing!! My grannie would make this every summer with my aunt and we would help chop veggies she would make 80 jars and divide them up between the family. Unfortunately the last made jars were right before she past in 2013 and I held on to them as long as I could and cried when the last jar was used. I have searched and searches and your recipe is the ONE. A true winner in my book and has brought back so many memories. I thank you. Hopefully when my aunt and cousins taste it they will agree. Many blessings to you! ❤
Oh my goodness! You made me tear up for you. I love your memory and I thank you for sharing this with me. You made this video worth while girl. Thank you 😊💜💜💜💜

Thank you Reno. What is your kitties name? What do you eat chow chow on?
Her name is GreyC.. because she haves shades of grey and white.. the big C stands for cat.. ☺️ she is very sweet and adorable and loves to watch me cook.. you will sometimes see her walking around in my kitchen when I'm making videos.. as far as the chow chow I plan to try that on salad or in a stew.. and I love the way you cut your onions and made them into a diced onion.. I can't wait to try that and also how you took the middle of those seeded middle part in the bell peppers and removed it. Very remarkable! 🤗
Well Goodness, this video had me jumping up to get end of the garden veggies. I wish you could see this pile in my sink. 😄 🤣

I have missed you, Amy! I had somehow missed your last couple of videos. Yay I can watch them now. My family loves loves loves us some Chow Chow. I’m with you, it’s wonderful on peas but it’s good on everything. I’m so happy to have your recipe. I get it. I really like chopping, myself. Sending our Love to our neighbors in LA, with prayers too. 💗🙏
So glad you get the chopping thing😅 I get message after message telling me I need a quick food processor and such like I’m unaware😅I use them sometimes but I love to chop.
@@amyslouisianakitchen The kitchen is my happy place. The chopping is therapeutic for me too. I enjoy cooking the most IF, I feel like there isn’t a ton of other things that need to be done. 😂🤣😂 Isn’t THAT a hoot? 😘😘😘
Oh I love this video so much 😃 I bought a canning pressure pot over the summer and so this has given me the go ahead to get to canning l soooo thank u sugar ♥️♥️

God Bless you too.
I just discovered your channel and am loving your recipes. I am 60+ years old and growing up I didn't have any family members that gardened or canned. So, I have been teaching myself how to do both in the last few years. Loving all of the cooking/canning tips !!
Ruth I just found your message today. So glad you are here with me. And I'm loving that you are canning😊💜thank you for your kind comment.
How bout ", Fellowship Chow Chow!"😁😉😘...since you're "Sharing" it with all of us ALL over the world 🌍❤️✝️

@@amyslouisianakitchen lol....my crazy head comes up with ALL sorts of silly ideas...🤩❤️😁Some people don't get my "sense of humor" sometimes, but you do! That's awesome. You are ALWAYS making me laugh🤣❤️
I like to use cauliflower if I have it or get some cheap I’ll use a little cucumber and even zucchini
@@Cthomas5678 yum. Great addition.
I love it on dirty rice, peas and I also eat it on a fresh hot piece of cornbread.
Oh my goodness! Yes to all you just said!!!
I would call it "Olde Worlde Chow Chow." Because it's made from ingredients that have been used centuries back into the Olde Worlde, back in England at a time when even the spelling was different.
Amy’s Chow Chow. LOL THAT BELL PEPPER INSIDES LOOKED LIKE A BIG TOOTH !!
😅😅it sure does!!
Please don’t leave the rings on after the seal. It can disguise a bad seal.
You sound like my grandmother. I'll remove them.
I've completely lost you on facebook. I miss watching you there.
I had some trouble but I’m back. Hope you can find me.
You don't submerge the jars of Chow Chow under water and boil them for 15 minutes like other people do?
The vinegar has so much acid and the heat. If it seals it is good.
Amy do you have to add that much sugar. Love you and John.
Brandy I bet you could add half that much and it still be good truly. If you do please let me know how it turns out.
@@amyslouisianakitchen Will do.
Aren't you afraid of your hands burning? The other day i deseeded some scotts bonnets and my hands burnt me for days😮💨i was making a west Indian pepper bottle with vinegar and oil and onions and bell pepper!those peppers were hot!🥵my neighbor grows them in his garden!
I usually wear gloves because I've had the same thing happen to my hands!
Holy cow I'm 57 and just learned how to De-seed a bell pepper the easy way and I have worked in professional kitchens... This is amazing.
😅😅JoJo I love it😊💜💜💜
Great video, Thankyou Amy. My late mum in law always pickled vegetables. We just called them that. Love to know where the word Chow Chow comes from. Blessings. 🥰🇬🇧

My mama made chow chow....we put it on pinto beans and Black Eyed Peas

I love chow chow but I ha e never made it my sister is the cancer in the family she cans for all of us
My daddy loved chow chow! Will have to make this myself!
I call it B&P relish, as in bits and pieces. That way we know the flavor will be different each year
How cute is, that name!
❤❤that’s cute
Hey Amy
Can you do a video on how to make peanut butter
I love when you tell that story how John calls it the GB bowl lol!! We had so much rain this summer up here in Michigan, my poor garden didn’t do too well. I should have used raised beds so I’ll be sure to do that next spring. I love Chow Chow and honestly, a lot of people up here didn’t know about it. Some of the elders do, but I think I knew about it from spending time down there with family before school started up here. Your vegetables look so beautiful 😍 💜💜💜
Oh goodness girl. Hope your garden does better next year! Lots of that I bought for my video. Didn’t grow it all myself either. Thanks for your sweet comment😊💜
Here in Central WV some call it chow chow too, some call it green tomato ketchup! Whatever the name, it's sooo good, especially with a pan of cast iron corn bread!! P.s. we cut wieners or sausage into chunks (like sour kraut and wienies) and fry the chow chow!! Yummyyy p.s.s..... the first time I ever used my jar grabber (I have the same set that you have) I done the exact same thing...took me several jars to figure out I had it up side down!! Bahahaha, glad I wasn't the only one! 😉❤
Zelda thank you so much for letting me know I wasn't the only one to do that!😄makes me feel better. Your so sweet!
Murry spice chow chow
Looks delicious 😋
You said no need to can, store in refrigerator, hmmm, I don’t have that much space in my refrigerator. So it’s not shelve stable?
Yes ma'am I canned mine and put it on the shelf. Not everyone wants to can though.
Love watching your videos thank you for sharing
@@brendawells8315 thank you so much

Honey, this ole canning buddy loves this receipe. We can everything. Bye Lizzie lu
Lizzie just saw your sweet cimment today😊💜
Do you have to use 12 cups of Sugar I’m a Type to diabetic I was wondering if you can use 6 cup
Tammy girl I bet you can and I also switch out Splenda in many of my canning recipes. It works beautifully
Heck, there’s nothin gonna nibble on those Jalapeños……..lol
I know right😄
I love eating fruits and vegetables my Dear....nice lawn gardening
them peppers not burn your fingers? I have to put gloves on.
Yes, that do. I needed gloves I. Myself
I love to make Chow Chow it is so good with fresh peas !
Yes it certainly is.
When the chickens are out do they eat from the garden? Ours did, our goats would also. 🤗 And do the chickens eat jalapeños?
Why aren't you getting all of the vegetables up off of your cupboard? 😮
I actually do but not in the video because some other Yahoo starts saying I'm taking too long in the video.
@@amyslouisianakitchentell ‘em to kiss your grits!!!
Beautiful chow chow!! Love your upbeat personality!! Thanks for sharing!!
I get it, love to chop 💜💜💜
Yes you so get it!!😊💜💜
Nothing wrong with calling it southern chow chow bc a lot of northerners don’t know what it is!!

Turn your mic on girl!
Pamela my mic is on. It is on so loud you have to turn me down a lot.
Sorry!! Maybe I didn't have my sound up. My mistake. I get a little dingy sometimes. Lol! I blame it on milage, not age, even though I am 71.lol 😊
@@pamelastokes2964 Pamela I stay dingy myself girlie. No worries. I thank you for watching and interacting with me😊😊
I need to try this!! Yum!!
Mmmm delicious, I wish we had smellavision. 😂🤣💜💜💜😊🤗🥰
I was thinking the same thing. I can still smell it in my canning kitchen!!
You sure have taught me a lot I thought chow chow was a dessert.. Just love your videos. Thanks for sharing and God Bless...
Oh goodness girl. I tell you what I can eat it in a bowl by itself like a dessert😅
@@amyslouisianakitchen I'm sure it looks so good..
Looks delicious and beautiful.
Thank you.
A good name for the chow chow since it’s at the end of summer harvest and starting in to winter I would name it “ the end” chow chow. Down where you live are purple Hull peas like pinto beans are where I live?
I think they must be like your pinto beans. Yes. Of course I love some pintos!! “The end chow chow “ would certainly peak people’s interest😅😊
@@amyslouisianakitchen yes it would, what do they taste like
@@amyslouisianakitchenwhen I lived in Knoxville in the 80’s my first time eating chow chow I was in love and I’m from the north and never really liked sweet relish but I loved the chow chow a lady shared with me and I asked her what all was in it? She laughed and said everything out of the garden and then she said her mama called it end of the garden chow chow ❤❤❤
I learned all kinds of great things from those southern girls ❤ I was only 22 years old and I definitely learned how to survive with a little bit!
@@Cthomas5678 so so close to my name of the chow chow. I love it. Thank you for sharing with me😊💜
