Talli Faye I just love your excitement. I sit here and smile over it. Your chow chow does look pretty and I'd probably have the same reaction as you hearing the ping of the lids! You are just precious.
I miss canning! I still have all the supplies but no more family to give it to so may do a batch for the local kids summer school camp. Thanks for inspiring me, once again!
I love that chow chow too! When I was a kid, like 50 years ago, we made relish with carrots, celery seeds and etc. It went in a gallon jar and put in the refrigerator all winter. We would dip out a bowl for supper with our beans.
I remember a friend of my grandmother's doing that. Granny always canned hers, exactly like Talli did. No water bath. Just screamin' hot relish into screamin' hot jars and capped with screamin' hot lids and rings. Ping, Ping Ping... we all survived. lol
I haven't made chow chow in years! Love it! The ONLY thing it ever needs is a spoon! I've been known to eat it right out of the jar! Black eyes.... Purple hull .. Crowder peas... Pintos ... Potato salad... Ohhhh my... Where's me a spoon? Thank you sweet girl for jogging such good memories! Big hugs!!!
OMGOSH, OMGOSH!! Thank you so much for sharing this recipe and your instructions, Dear Friend ❤ I can’t wait for my “very first” garden to produce so my daughter can help me make it!! I have always made pepper jelly, and I jar it up exactly like you just did. I also make and jar my grape jam the same way. Nobody has ever gotten sick from this way of preserving, that I ever did. In fact I’ve used my dishwasher to sterilize jars and lids instead of boiling them. Thank you so much again for showing me how to make this fabulous relish. Your KeyLime friend 💕🙏🙏
@@inthekitchenwithtallifaye4724 Thank you. But I really THANK YOU for sharing this Chow Chow !! My wish and request to you was granted!! I absolutely love this stuff 💕🙏🙏
Been eating Chow Chow for over 50 years...love it on hotdogs and hamburgers and of course my beans, peas, and greens!!! Thanks for this great "how to" for the younger generations!!! God bless from south Alabama!🤗👍💖
My favorite sound from my canning days is the pinging from the jar lids…..lol as I was texting you were commenting on the most beautiful sound! Love watching your channel remembering my sweet mama as she was canning or just cooking..she was born in Arkansas so was a wonderful cook…❤
My stepdad was from TN and moved to KY when he married my Mommy. He had me over for supper one night and had Chow Chow. Soup beans, tators, and cornbread. I hadn't ever heard of it but I tried it in my beans. Honey, that was the best thing I'd ever eaten in beans! I begged him to let me take it but his Momma had stopped canning a few years earlier so this was the last of it. Sure, glad I found ya. Thank ye!
It was a pleasure watching you make this recipe. I remember when I was a kid My grandma in Memphis Tennessee used to make this, she called it sweet pickle chow chow. I imagine it would be the same thing though. I just love good old country cooking and I enjoy watching your videos thank you for sharing them❤. May God continue to bless you and your family 🙏🏽
You probably won't see this since this is an older video. Im 89 in a few days and you cook just like I use to. I love canning and chow chow was my sons favorite thing that I canned. He does so much for me,I wish I could make him some. I made fried pies, too. I love your kitchen. I had that table in green. My kitchen in 55 was much like yours. Its retro and I love it. I like old stuff, too. Im glad I found you.
I’m so happy you found me!… I love anything from the past in my kitchen!… It keeps me in my happy place with memories of my Moma, Grannie and Aunts… I’ve been in the kitchen most of my life lol 😂… What a blessing to have your son to help you!… They are precious gifts from God❤️❤️❤️
That’s how I do my pickles, chow chow, hot pickled peppers, jelly and jams. I’m not dead yet nor did any of my ancestors die from it. 😂 I don’t boil my pickle peppers vinegar and they seal just fine and are crispy couple of years later. Love watching your videos.
I guess I have been living under a rock because I never heard of chow chow. It sure looks good, but very time consuming for one person (me). When my mother did her canning, she always told us kids to listen for the “pop”. Oh, the good ‘ole’ days. Sure miss them.
Hello my dear sweet friend!! This time last year we went right up through the top of Texas!! I had never seen any windmills all over like I seen them there!! It was so amazing to see! It was so very hot during the day but yet so cold at night!! I appreciate you teaching us how to do all this wonderful kitchen work!! I'll definitely want to make some chow chow to share with my sweet family here in Pigeon Forge Tennessee!!! 🧡🤍
This video was so needed, and thank you, Talli Faye! I like chow chow, yum 😋 I'm with you on the not necessary to water bathe or pressure can, but like you said, to each their own. I make a specialty mustard, and I don't do either to it. That just looks like some amazing chow chow, and the tumeric is also good for you. It helps fight inflammation. I know this video couldn't have been easy on you, trying to take care of business and video it explaining everything at the same time, but please know we appreciate what you do. Oh, and I can't speak for everyone, but I'll be first in line for shirts whenever they're ready. It'll be worth the wait. We love ya and Buzz and Lulu, too. Have a blessed Saturday, little lady 💛

I've heard about Chow-Chow...but have never tried it. It looks interesting and good. I like your idea about pairing it with peas. I love peas and beans. Thanks Sistah-Friend for the share. 😊😊❤❤😊😊
I've heard Southerners talk about Chow Chow a lot lately but am glad I saw you make it. It is just like what I've always called Pickled Relish...except you couldn't pay me to use green tomatoes! Eww...my Grams used to love fried green tomatoes so I did try them once & my face sure made Grams laugh! I love how you tell us that you do things the way you always have! I have butted heads with younger people on the "proper or safe" way myself. My comment is, you do what you feel is right for you. For me, I do things the way Momma and my Grams cooked/canned, and Grams & Gramps both lived to 98! Nuff said!!! Absolutely, there is little as satisfying as sitting back & hearing those lids pinging as they seal! I haven't been able to do any canning for years but encourage anyone able to, please do so. There is nothing better than seeing your pantry shelves full of the fruit of your efforts & the taste is better than anything you can buy in a store.
