    Philippa, thanks for this video. I wish I'd found it before I ordered needles. LOL But I don't think I'd have done differently as I found helpful info on Etsy after watching another video in which you gave the names of a couple of your favorite places to buy needles. As with each of your videos that I've seen, great job! Very helpful info and so clear. I appreciate being able to hear from someone with experience.

    Great video, Im a beginner and only used a ooupld of needles but im guessing this is why my needle starts off being great but then feels like its stopped working the nearer I get to the end. After only 3 hours of needling. Obvisouly I need to use some finer ones. Will visit your shop and see what I can buy. Thanks Anne

      @feltsbyphilippa  Рік тому +1

    Hi Philippa! I realize you've probably figured this out by now, but I just got the same tool you have that you can't open. You open it by twisting the longer part to remove the needles! Your videos are so helpful. I'm just starting to needle felt and appreciate all the great advice you give out. :)

    Hi Philippa! I've loved your videos that have answered my beginner's questions. I'm wondering about needles, how you can tell what they are, once you have them outside of the original packaging? I got several kinds from different kits and those that have a coloured tip are easily identified. But those that don't, how can you tell what type and size they are? I don't see any kind of marking on them... 🙏🙏🙏 It's soon Easter time and I want to show some friends how to make little Easter eggs 🐰🐤

    Back to needle felting after eye problems. Thanks for all your help! Question: I make 3d Highland Coos and have been lucky to be selling them. I use pipe cleaners instead of armature for the legs. In your opinion, should I use just 2 pieces for 4 kegs, or felt 4 into sides of the coo?

      I'm very sorry, I am not familiar with where to purchase in Australia. I only like to recommend where I know or have shopped before. I would hope you have a fairly good market, maybe New Zealand is better but that would still cost quite a bit in shipping, sorry I can't help further x

      Whereas other people like myself deeply appreciate that she kept this video to one topic and less than 5 minutes long. Philippa has a ton of videos on other topics and she has others still that are more "complete" guides for beginners; this video is precisely the length it should be to cover the needles (which is just what the title of the video says!). Thanks, Philippa!

    Hello! I bought this beginner kit that came with a set of needles but i dont know what sizes they are. I think they may be triangular ones but I sorted them and theres large tall ones, short smaller ones, and some in the middle. Is there any way to know their sizes?

    • @feltsbyphilippa
      @feltsbyphilippa  3 роки тому +2

      It's very difficult unless they are colour coded. You can see the shape but the thinner the needle looks the higher the gauge, just try them all out and see which one you like. A thicker needle will be better for starting projects. Heidifeathers does colour codes on her needles which really helps, thanks for watching x

    Hi, I bought some needles on Amazon, but the package didn't come with a guide to the sizes. I've noticed that red, blue, and green seem to be standard colours used to distinguish one size from another within a package of multiple needles. Just wondering if each of these colours represents a specific size across the board? For example, are all needles with a blue tip the same size, regardless of where I buy them?

    • @feltsbyphilippa
      @feltsbyphilippa  2 роки тому

      I'm afraid not, that would really help things, check the listing as it might be in the description otherwise you might have to contact the seller. Also you can work out the needles through feel when felting, lower gauge (thicker) needle will have more resistance x
