I haven’t found another teacher of felting like you!
Thank you!
Thank you, glad you like the channel xx
Saying hello from New Hampshire USA. I'm a raw beginner. Felting is so fascinating so I thought I would take a "stab" at it and I'm loving it! Thank you for all your videos which I will be watching over the next few weeks. I've already poked a finger so I feel I'm officially committed to this wonderful craft!
Welcome and it sounds like you are definitely a felter now with the first stab out the way, hope you continue to enjoy it xx
thx a lot to give us a lessin how to start a a beginner. Your work is amazing, i am watching from Frankfurt in germany while i am sitting on dialysis session.❤.
Hope the session goes well, thanks for watching ❣️ xx
My dear cat was killed several days ago, and I've came across a youtube video where a person felts pets of people. Unfortunately, they are completely booked out, and so thanks to your inspiring videos, I've decided to try and felt my late cat myself.
Thank you for the great videos. They really help me start with felting.❤
So sorry to hear about your cat, they are completely our family and it's always hard to say goodbye. I am glad my videos have helped, thank you for watching xx
so sorry for you loss
I'm so excited. In the last couple of years, we have lost some of your babies. My autistic son 32 had a cute little dachshund named Dex we had him for 22 years. And his back was intact. I lost my pug of 14 years Nefertiti during COVID. It was awful. My daughter just got a new dog. And my youngest another dachshund he's still with us.I'm hoping that I can make these for my kids. Your doing great thanks for the good help.
How much do you charge for your amamils.❤
I am a new felter and have been looking for good tutorials. I am so happy I found you. Thank you for being a great teacher. I have been binge watching this morning. Look forward to watching more.
Thank you, that's very kind of you, glad you like them and I have many more to make x
I’m so glad I found this site. I’m trying to felt an American bison and I was needing to figure out how to use more bendable wire for him without using 12 gauge thick wire.
Thank you, I hope your Bison goes well, an interesting piece to create xx
Been thinking about taking up needle felting for years! Just discovered Philippa’s videos tonight and they have inspired me to finally take the plunge!
I live in the US, but going to try to use her affiliate links to buy my starter kit.
Thank you, that's very kind of you, I hope you enjoy felting when you start, it's a fantastic craft x

I’m brand new to wool felting and love it. Thank you for your tutorials!!
Thank you, glad you like them 😊 x
Best beginning to a tutorial ever... they should all start with a cup of tea 🩵🩵🩵
I drink far too much of it! 🍵xx
I've just started with the rabbit kit for my grandson that my daughter brought me, it came out great, now im just doing a pumpkin and loving this craft after finding your video's that inspired me. Thank you x

My sister in law loves sheep so I am going to make her one for Christmas thanks a lot for your brilliant tutorial
No problems, also look at my other sheep tutorials too, thanks for watching and good luck x
A great lesson thank you, I achieved my first animal which I wanted to use for my granddaughter soft book. Not a bad result for a first timer. Loved the way you demonstrate very clear.
Thank you, that's great that you've done your first animal, armature is so useful to help things be a bit sturdier, thanks for watching x
What a great tutorial! Have watched several of your tutorials and can't tell you how helpful they are. Very informative. Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge about felting, as well as about how to go about selling it. Looking forward to more of your videos. :)

Same to you! xx
Yes, please do a horse tutorial, my daughter wants ones for her birthday... not sure how to do it yet. Thank you so very much for your videos.
I will do, starting to make them soon, thanks for watching x
Hi Philippa, another great video. Thank you. I really wish I had discovered needle felting 6 or 8 months ago when there was more time. Right now, with Thanksgiving just around the corner and Christmas not long after that I'm really busy helping a grandson make gifts for his siblings; so not much time for new things right now. However, I'm so glad I found your videos. I'm not ready for armature yet but at least now I have an idea of how it is done. THANK YOU!!!
Thank you and glad you like the video. Hopefully after Christmas you will get more time but it is addictive so it's good to be able to have some free time in case you really enjoy it, thanks for watching xx
I am starting for the first time. I bought a kit. This video is very helpful. Thank you for sharing 😀
Glad you like it, good luck x
Thank you for these! I've had them on in the background as I work on my first projects from a few kits I'd gotten off Etsy. :)
I do the same when I'm working, I watch alot of Etsy business vlogs as it's so interesting how people run their shops, glad you enjoyed it and thanks for all your comments x
I'm only a beginner and so glad I found your channel! I'm so excited to try this. More than happy to subscribe. Thank you ! 🇬🇧
Glad you like it and thanks for watching x

Today in July 2021, is my first day of felting ... this video helped me curve my nerves and begin! Thank you, Philippa ...
You're so welcome!
Loraine Chudzinski
Thank you so much. I am just starting felting and am scared to death regarding armatures I’ve read a great deal about using them. I watched your video and feel much better. You have a wonderful way of teaching and making one feel very at easy about trying something new.
Brilliant because that's how I felt in the beginning and it's not that bad, practice really helps and you just have to do it, whatever happens your piece will be stronger than without an armature. Thank you so much for your comment and for watching. I hope to do a video on problems with armature and how to solve them but it will be in about 4 weeks, lots more video's before then x.
I am happy you show the felting slowly, so I can follow
Philippa- love you!!! I just started felting and your tutorials are fab! Thank you for all you’re teaching us, and your sense of humor😁
Aahh, thank you so much, I make videos I wanted when I first started as I couldn't find it all. Glad you enjoy them and thanks for such a lovely comment, makes it all worthwhile 😀 x
I’m so looking forward to your crafting business videos. You have such a lovely way of teaching.
Thank you, that is so very kind, I have just done two video's on craft fair's and hope to do one on pricing craft items very soon, thanks so much for watching x

Your tutorials are great! Thank you 😊
You are very kind and I'm glad they help, thanks x
Thank you for the great video. I am so new at this that I haven't yet bought any materials so I will definitely watch your tools video as well as your other ones before I go spending. Thanks. Julie in Australia
Glad you like the video's and lovely to know you are watching from Australia! Hope your felting is going well x
Just found your introduction to felting video, wish I new about you when I first started, I'm a fan of felting and definitely a fan of yours ❤

Great tutorial, I think one of the best on UA-cam :)you have such a lovely voice and clear instructions that it’s a pleasure listening to. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge
Wow, thank you! That's very kind, really glad you like the channel, thanks for watching x
I have been watching and I am amazed! Your creations are magnificent! I think I shall newer be at your level! When ewer I watch I think wow!
Thank you but all it is is practice and time, I've been doing this for over 5 years and you improve with every felt, choose good tutorials to improve your skills and only felt things you are passionate about. Keep your first felt and then after a year compare it, you always improve but don't realise it xx
Thank you for this extremely well made tutorial-a great deal of tips in felting! Love your way of making things so easy to follow.
Thank you, that's very kind, really appreciate it x
I really appreciate your videos - they are always so reassuring and very informative. Sadly, I spend more time watching them than actually making things. Thank you
Glad you like them! I have to watch crochet videos first before I understand it all, hope you are enjoying your felting xx
Only done a sheep but really enjoyed it. I have been ordering supplies and now really need to get stuck in now! I wish there were some good classes nearby (Lincolnshire) - I like the social aspect and the hands on experience. I think that would give me a good start. xx
Maybe Felt Wildly is over your way, it's a great online shop, they might do workshops eventually xx
Simply an amazing lady👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Wow, thank you xx
Thank you for your tutorials. It has given me confidence to have a try at an armature!
Brilliant, just go for it, once the wool is on and felted around an end, it stays on, hope it goes well x
I make or try to make smaller items use pipe cleaners mostly. I have brought florist wire and tape for bird legs.....ohhhhh bird legs🤔 Brilliant video Happy felting
Thanks so much x

YOU...are SO fantastic. I have learned so much from your videos ❤️
That's great, really pleased you like my videos and such a lovely comment 😀 x
I just love your videos. Take your time cuz I watch them over and over to learn and follow along. You are a great teacher and I appreciate how you showed what was happening close up. I like how you explain what you are doing and why. I've been felting for a while, but it really takes time to get good. :) I loved the bloopers and the all your "friends" that helped you at the end. haha I'm Kim from Canada by the way., :)
Thank you so much, your feedback is so lovely, I just want to show everyone how to do this, it's not too hard once you see it all explained and then give it a go. I do have lots more video's planned they just take time, thanks so much for watching x
Fantastic tutorial thankyou. Love the way you show and explain everything so well. I am just starting so very helpful..Lynda from New Zealand

Very nice videos, easy to watch and lots of info! Thanks
Thank you for watching 👀 xx
Just found your videos tonight because I’m thinking about trying needle felting.
I watched lots of different people’s videos & I have to tell you that you do a fantastic job of explaining things! The speed at which you teach things is perfect. I’m excited to start now after finding you & your page!! One question about this video in particular… When you were making the sheep’s leg I was wondering- are you trying to avoid hitting the wire, or do you just go for it and not worry about the wire?
Hi, good to have you here and I hope you enjoy needle felting if you do try it. When felting around wire I do just go for it but I hold the needle lightly in my hand so it's more likely to bounce off the wire and generally I start with a thicker needle (36) and progress to a finer one if needed, thanks so much for watching ❣️
Thanks so much!
Wonderful video thank you so much - you are really great at making a teaching video - looking forward to viewing more 🌸👋🏻
Blessings
Thank you so much and to you too xx

Hi
I like your "keep it simple" method :)
Thanks x
Excellent explanations and demonstrations!! So helpful, especially for a newbie like me with zero experience and knowledge other than having watched some videos. I bought a starter kit and hope to try my first project this weekend. Thanks so much fo the helpful videos....can’t wait to go back to your videos on the basics of the supplies, etc. And your animals are splendid!! :)
You are very kind and really glad my videos help, good luck and enjoy your first felt x

This was incredibly helpful, thank you!
Thanks, glad you liked it, I've also done a recent video on trouble shooting wire armature too x
Love your videos, you make things so clear. Thank you so much. Making a Valais Blacknose sheep now. Looking forward to the business ones.
Thank you, I try to not waffle. The business ones are forming in my head, just working things through, how to start and sell on Etsy, how to price things, how to set up at fairs. Any idea's you have, do let me know, thanks x
Well presented video! Enjoyed it!
Thank you!
I like seeing your work!
Thank you, maybe check out my studio vlogs, I show lots more work there too x
Thank you what an inspirational lesson
Glad you liked it, thanks so much for commenting! x

Good tutorial easy to follow 👍
Thank you x
Thank you, your so kind!
Thanks for watching ❣️
You are a wonderful teacher! I am just about to try my first project - a snowman kit. Can I do needle felting with regular quilt batting?
Thank you, I'm afraid I've never seen quilt batting but basically give it a go, it will scrunch down and stay together if it works x
How did you make the unicorn so smooth and finished looking?? Love your videos, really enjoy listening to you speak! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience-so inspiring!!
Thanks so much, it could be the wool you are using, is it carded, have a look at my video on how to get a smooth finish too, smaller needles will really help x
Thanks for making this video, really helpful ^^
Glad you liked it x
Thank you
this video is great!
Thanks x
Gotta try this.
Hope it goes well xx
Made my firsr armature yesterday, went great! For the body, i made o shape with two wires, that way, there is no way it's going to spin around! It's for a two legged creature with wings and its legs amd tail are very fine so it's a challenge!
That is awesome! practice will definitely help, thanks for watching x
That horse is AMAZING 🤩 it looks so smooth I thought it was plastic ... How do you make your colors so even and smooth
Use a nice merino carded wool and a 40 spiral needle and lots of time x
Thanks I love the spiral needles. .. thanks for the help
Hi! Could you use polyester stuffing to do the initial wrap around the body, instead of carded wool?
Yes, absolutely, sometimes I find the polyester stuff can create a bumpy surface if it is too close to the top but use up what you can if it is further in x
Question: I’m making a felted cat standing on one paw, but it’s going to be very top heavy. Is there a wooden stand (preferably circular and smaller in size) you’d recommend? Also, would i need a thicker wire to keep it together? Is it even doable? Do you have any other tips you’d recommend or videos?
PS: I love your videos and you inspired me to start felting! Ive been doing it a while now but i still go to your channel for help sometimes haha. I also love how involved you are!
Thank you so much, glad my channel helps, I used a circular wooden stand off amazon for my horse head but you have to buy them in packs of five I think, go quite thick as it will be heavier. Use a thicker wire, about 1.6mm galvanised, that will be stronger, you don't double it up like most of my armatures, use it single. I don't do cats but I am sure there are some good UA-camrs out there, hope it goes well, sounds like a fantastic creation! Xx
Hi! I'm new to needle felting and a new subscriber, and super happy to find your channel to start and learn from! Quick question, how did you get such fantastic detail and shading on the unicorn?
Thanks!
I just used several shades of grey, plus felt the muscle shapes in too. Glad you like the channel and thanks so much for watching x
@@feltsbyphilippa Thanks for the reply! Beautiful creations!
I've been a fan for a couple of years and love you! I'm in the US where our wire is sold on Amazon by gauge and I'm having difficulty figuring out what gauge is 1 mm or 1.6 mm ---- since they don't sell it that way. Do you know of a method of figuring it out?
Hi! Thank you 😊, you are very kind, 1mm is 18 gauge and 1.5mm is 15 gauge. If you look on heidifeathers website under accessories, all the wire sizes are listed (Well not 1.6mm, sorry). Hope that helps and thanks for watching xx
Love your tutorials I need to find how you do the curly coats please
Several ways, buy locks from Etsy or use yarn wool, have a look at my sheep playlist to see how x
