    The cartoon is pretty interesting too. Plus, it has Mark Hamill has an antagonist which is always great! He's not straight up villain like with the Joker, but he still does an amazing job.

      This was even dubbed for swedish tv back in 94-95 I think a few episodes in swedish are on youtube. Damn shame this never got to DVD. This was probably also how i discovered a continuous storyline over multiple eps instead of just one shot eps with no connection to eachother. Show is criminally underrated

    Btw since the PAL versions of these games used 5 different language texts, the devs had to change it due to memory constraints; PAL only summarizes the story after each chapter. So if you really want the full experience I suggest the NTSC versions on top of the games running at 60 fps aka not 17% slower than they should.

    I remember my mom renting this game for me on the SNES when I was like 7 years old, from this local renting store that I can still remember the smell of. For years I could never remember anything about it other than the fact that I was a purple guy, and the jungle sounds on one of the levels. It's great to know what this game is.

    Loved this game as a kid. "Surprisingly good..." sums it up about right. Rented it from the store, from just not having anything else I really fancied, but at the least wanted to rent a new game. Got this and just realised more and more that it's a really good game. Just seems like a real labour of love. The developers really did their best to give you a good game. (I miss those days).

    Honestly a surprising amount of depth. The OST is amazing for the time, replayability is crazy, and the fact that you won't see half the content in one playthrough is nuts.

    I used to watch this show! I also used to play and own the sega game gear version. Don't remember it too much but I think it was very similar to this version. Looks like a hidden gem to me my friends lol. I'm going to scoop it up if I ever find it in the wild.

    I've never played the SNES version, but I do own a copy of the game on the Genesis thanks to a friend giving the game to me (along with about 6-7 other games). Like most exploration games such as such, I initially didn't like it because I kept getting lost fairly early in the game. I wouldn't touch it again until about two years ago when I wasn't sure what to play next and finally decided to give this one another chance... as long as I had GameFAQs pulled up on my computer at all times.
    After playing through it to completion, I can honestly say it's a true gem on the system. I liked getting all of these cool gadgets for The Phantom to use and the story was pretty engaging for someone who hadn't watched the show at that point in time with it's high stakes and branching paths.
    It's probably a game I won't play for some time (like most longer games in my collection), but I'm glad I didn't give this one away or something. I'd have really missed out.

    Hey, I'm doing a thorough comparison of the versions for this game and was wondering if you knew anything about this:
    As far as I can tell, you can't access the Space Port until chapter 6 on MD, at which point you can't exit the area after entering it (which means you can't get to the Energy 1/2, a damage increaser and an energy bar upgrade without getting a bad ending) - On SNES you can enter the Space Port as early as before the second sewer mission, get the items and continue with whatever mission you were on. You can also enter it in chapter 6 and still exit, to go back and into the Maximum building instead. If this is correct then there's no way of getting 100% on MD, so it might not be. Did I miss something?
    You can find the comparison list at my mini-revver page.

    • @SNESdrunk
      @SNESdrunk  8 років тому +3

      +Alianger To be honest, I haven't touched this game since I uploaded this video all the way back in August. I don't remember being able to get to the Space Port in the MD version at all actually, I didn't get that far.

    I'd say a big "HELL YEAH!" about being worthy of playing these days, everyday really really since the game is amazingly good.
    It easily has one of the absolute best OST's in the SNES library, whoever composed the tunes is a master.

    how does everyone like this? this game is SO confusing...... its never clear on what you can and can not grapple, story starts out in a confusing way, the levels are like a maze since you have no map WHY NO MAP!, the game never explains what the numbers on the doors are and how to open them, and i cant for the life of me figure out how to get back to the area select screen once ive entered an area i was already in! AND THE MANUAL DOESNT EVEN TELL YOU!?!?!?!? also whats up with the length of the passwords???

    • @dalemau5
      @dalemau5 3 роки тому +1

      Aside from the story, all these things I figured out as a dumb 7 year old. A map would be really useful but I know the areas by heart haha.
      Is it a physical thing you can stand on? Is it a wall? You can grapple it.
      Numbers on the doors are locked and only opened when you destroy the mechanism thing with the same number displayed. Once you destroy the thing, the door with the same number opens.
      To get back into the map screen, you need to go down the same sewer entrance you did at the start. You always spawn on top of it when you pick an area. It has a ladder with the signature skull on it. Hold down and the jump button and you’re back at the map.
      The passwords, yeah I always hated that to be honest. The game doesn’t explain because tutorials and hand holding weren’t really a thing back then. You just jump and shoot.
