Street Fighter 2010 was released by Capcom for the NES in 1990 and is unlike any other in the series sending the Nerd into numerous fits regarding both timeline and continuity. Baffled and disappointed by the expectations of Capcom and the actual reality of 2010, the Nerd is even more perplexed by the gameplay style.

(Not assuming you live in the U.S.) but you'd assume you'll get more money in Miami rather than Two Egg, FL. It's not all bad, just getting up and grabbing a bite isn't mortifying. Who knows, might even find you some real good food!

My favorite AVGN moment of all time is in this episode. His mannerisms and the seriousness of his tone when he says "YOU PRESS DOWN TO SHOOT DIAGONALLY UP" cracks me up EVERY time and I say it on a daily basis for no reason.

to be fair, street fighter a.k.a fighting street is an perfect arcade port. trying to do special moves are very hard to pull off and all the voices sound horrible. it's exactly like the arcade game.

Well, we've got smartphones, the internet, advanced computers and video game systems, virtual reality, Humanity on the verge of going to Mars, drones, electric cars coming onto the market and a bunch of other stuff so it isn't too bad.
It's the govt fault for keeping cool tech hidden so citizens can be stuck slaving away minimum wage jobs while the politicians pay kidnappers to rape kids. Otherwise we'd have flying cars already cuz they already exist
This looks like one of most difficult games ever made. Surprised it's never mentioned in hardest games lists.
I think it's the hardest nes game there is. But it's probably not mentioned much because it's not that popular.
I had it as a kid and never got past maybe the third or fourth level
It's really not that bad once you figure out what you're supposed to do in each level. Even the final level's boss run is not that bad of you know how to avoid damage.
It is hard but not in an unfair and frustrating way, once you get used to the character movements it becomes a challenging but beatable game. Not just on the hardest games but it is ignored on every Nes game list. IMHO one of the more technically impressive Nes titles, it could pass as a 16 bit gen game.
I could personally get through the majority of the game so that right there will tell you it's not that bad.

Yep, played the arcade, the TG-16 port is IDENTICAL. It really is that bad. I have the Street Fighter Collection on the Switch (which has that game in addition to all the versions of 2 and 3). They all emulate the arcade games, and yep even with a Hori arcade stick that game is ass. All the others are great though.
One of my favorite things in the review is the fact that when he says "We'll all be dead," the music just abruptly cuts off.

10 years later and so thankful for this video, introduced me to the game, that it wasn’t a fighting game which i never liked, got hooked and went through the same difficulty of learning it and mastering the control and how to efficiently get through each level. Beating it feels like a real accomplishment after what it puts you through

The replayability of AVGN videos is insane. I also casually watch his videos, and have bad short term memory. I beat this game today. It was fucking awesome.
On the final stage, I never really had problems with the time limit. I did have problems not getting my shit pushed in by some of the 5 bosses.
"fuckbrain" (14:54) is a pain in the ass. I fucking hate him. He has no "pattern". When he's going to throw his spike-hand, you've got 3 posibilities.

So, in that tiny portion of a second where he indicates he's going to attack, you have to take a guess. Fuck that. I just standed there and blasted him intil that fucker exploded.
"Ken" and "The Final Fight" were both Capcom USA localization tricks. I'll post the Japanese story below:
Humankind sought a new land to claim. They began emigrating to other worlds. In this society made up of humans and aliens, atrocious crimes were committed. Thus began one of humanity’s darkest times...
The criminals were able to harness the incredible power of many cyborgs... but in 2010 AD, creatures called "parasites" with much more destructive power appeared. These parasites would merge with a body, causing it to grow a beetle-like shell of armor, and so bring forth considerably more power.
To confront this situation, the galaxy police sent the cyborg officer Kevin Straker. His orders are to destroy the parasites and gather their power, which would open a dimensional gate to the next area, though the gate would only remain open for 10 seconds, after which it'd close and Kevin would die. With this in mind, he sets out on his mission.

haha, street fighter: the movie: the game, reminds me of what happened with pokemon yellow version.
pokemon red/blue versions were created, then pokemon the animated series was created based off of that where ash starts with pikachu, so then fans of the animated series bought red/blue but were pissed that you couldn't start with pikachu, so they made pokemon yellow to satisfy this.
