I drove an F-14 with an ADF and TACAN (vorDME)...didn't have the glass BUT I did have a fantastic RIO...made all the difference IFR. Could I do it single pilot to minimums w/o RIO/paddles or approach? I'd rather not think about it. Well done, pal.
Scott, firstly enjoying the video’s in the G7, hope to fly one here in Australia in October, question if I may, the iPad you use, what’s the size and what is the make of the keyboard ?
I love taking an approach to minimums. Side question, what are you using to record your audio. I can’t see a wired connection to either of your cameras
Great Video and flight! One question when planning you picked a intersection just to the east of your dest. Why didn't you just do Zable the IAF on the approach? Just curious?
Good point, I could have.. and actually thought of that. But if I filed ZABLE and then the airport as the next fix, that leg cuts me through the restricted. Now granted, that is the IAF on the approach, so in practical terms it would be fine and not cause a re-route because I would get cleared for the approach. But I knew I may not be (and didn't) flying that approach. So, SPARR was up and far enough away to not have the re-route conversation with ATC, which was the driving force to begin with. It would have been fine either way. But great catch and valid point!
2:13 you flip through 10 pages in 10 seconds clock showing 7,24 AM. When the clock changed to 7,25 AM you flipped through 16 more pages in about the span of 45 seconds, then 3:12 you flip through over 14 NOTAMs pages in the span of 20 seconds, all while nervously laughing through telling us this is sped up. There is zero evidence of altered speed in this video and what you’re doing is unsafe because you’re not actually reading while planning your flight @@flying_scott
And it’s not 4 minutes, @@flying_scott, to say it were 3 would be generous and if you think that’s enough time to properly read through over 30 pages of information you flipped through is safe, boy I hope nobody ever flies with you
Ha, it’s funny you mentioned that. When I first saw it, I literally thought “why are those blue squares there?” It’s actually the horizon, when you were in taxi mode, the drone looking view tilted down, pushes the horizon all the way to the top. So it appears there are two blue squares on either side of the scoreboard.
@@flying_scott I understand that even from video but what is the point of having the "Horizon boxes" when you are on the ground ? I mean you are flat on ground, taxiway or airstrip is not curved on 30 degrees angel :D I hope you understand me.
@@FilipBzik it’s not that they are boxed, the horizon goes all the way across the top, but the autopilot scoreboard comes down and intersects it, giving the appearance of boxes on either side. Like the notch on the top of an iPhone. The only way they could change. This is to tilt the perspective down even more, so the horizon is completely hidden.
@@flying_scott Yes, it makes sense. It was quiet unusual to see it while taxing, I was asking myself: "WTF we see a bug?" with horizon. It does not make sense, on ground, but it is how it is.....at the end, it does not make any significant difference. 3D view looks really amazing! Just FADEC is missing like Diamond ;)
Friggin love it! Single pilot IFR in IMC to minimums. Stay proficient my friend.
Nothing better 👍🏻
Great IFR flight! I kept saying to myself, he’s going to have to take this down to almost minimum! Very nicely done. Thanks for sharing! Fly well!
That feeling when you see the runway is the best. Your laugh said all . Great video!!!
Good job flying to mins. Fantastic airplane...Cirrus knows what they are doing!
I was happy and proud of my G6 until I saw this G7. Now so jealous 😂. Have fun. 👏
My first time on your channel Flying Scott and I’m looking forward for the ride along in the G7 Cirrus
Great video and explanation of events that you are encountering. Love it.
Wow! That was great... suspenseful! Thanks for including Foreflight planning, too.
Absolutely incredible experience thanks for letting us ride along!
Thanks, really appreciate the IFR to minimum!
Such an amazing video glad to call my home KFNT love Michigan!!
Love Flint airport, shoot approaches there all the time. Like this: ua-cam.com/video/1VAqAWLWSOY/v-deo.htmlsi=dqEdBDJU5fdA9iK6&t=3605
@@flying_scott so sweet!!!
Great Video Scott
Love the RNAV 9 up there.
It’s fantastic how well the cirrus does holding centerline.
Happy Flying!
Good stuff, thanks for sharing. I am exploring flying as a career 2.0, so this is the type of content I am watching right now.
Same
Loved this video, incredible flight. Please keep uploading IFR flights!
Breaking out is such a rush. Well done.
Great video. When I get back into flying, definitely inspiring to get IFR rating.
I had same feeling when finding the airfield in CAVU. LOL!
If that's the rush you get from having the the AP do all the work for you, imagine how you'd feel hand flying it! lol
Ha, you’re not wrong. Watch my latest video, I hand fly two of them, but not to minimums.
Amazing Flight
Every day that you can play golf is a great day.

You hit us with a banger!
That’s a good feel’n !
Absolutely love this video!
Yes, it is fun.
It’s inspiring bro thank you!!
IFR ready
Awesome single IFR flight with all ADM and SRM. Great package 😊
Question: what kinda strap are you using for your iPad?
Thanks 🙏
It’s by pivot case
Scott, firstly enjoying the video’s in the G7, hope to fly one here in Australia in October, question if I may, the iPad you use, what’s the size and what is the make of the keyboard ?
Thanks. It’s an iPad mini and I assume you mean kneeboard? It’s by Pivot case.
@@flying_scott yes kneeboard, that’s preemptive typing for you 😂 thanks for the additional info, appreciated 😊
hell of a city name
Quick question for you. What application do you use to do get all that info. I am still flying by the needles and a hand held GPS
That app in the beginning of the video is ForeFlight. The other major competitor to that is garmin pilot. Both are great and (IMHO) a must have.
I love taking an approach to minimums.
Side question, what are you using to record your audio. I can’t see a wired connection to either of your cameras
I use my phone

Nice video! Just got a G7 myself, N779GW. Are you having same issue with stall horn sounding at full flaps when on the ground?
Nope, not yet at least
Great video right to minimums!! I’m familiar with that airport and approach. My Mooney and I are based out of Marshall MI. Thanks for sharing!
Only single engine plane I feel safe flying IFR.
“Sped up” but the clock on your iPad didn’t change 🤔 talk about a speed reader
4 mins 😉

@@speedracer9132 ok, you got me. Good job 👍🏻 because I can’t check NOTAMS 30 other ways enroute. Nice work keyboard warrior.
It will be so .... to have Gaylord Airport IFR entry arrivals called "LGBT1", "STRGHT1", "BI2" ....
Nice! How fast were you taxiing out?
Like a southwest pilot 🤣
It's called a hover taxi 😂
Is that a software bug on a PFD at 17:07 - blue color squares while still on ground taxing?

Why are you pronouncing Gaylord; "Gai-ler" and not "GAY-LORD"
Gaylord, gayford ... whats going on here ? (Yes I know its a surname of a general and word gay meant happy before all this non-sence happened).
