    Detailing of small details is improved in every new speedpaint. It is difficult to convey in words the emotions I feel (admiration and respect, probably), but when you're finished with the eyes, I have goose bumps all over my body. Wow!

    I would love to see a slower process speedpaint, your way of painting is something I really want to learn. This piece is absolutely incredible!!

      I suggest slowing the video speed. The music will distort but it allows you to see smoother strokes and stuff. Although I wouldn't mind some tutorials myself :)

    I’m pretty sure I’ve said it before but I could watch you put details on a drawing for hours. Bless.

    aww, i kept thinking you would also add some rimlight to that second ear to make it pop/not blend in with the rest of the head :o But nonetheless you really convey emotions well!

    I'm currently not avaible to access DA right now so I was wondering how much your commissions are! I'd love to commission you as soon as I can!

      The range goes from 5$ (sketch headshot) to 100$ (full illustration, i.e. fullbody with detailed background) This "detailed headshot" is currently 40$ since I pack in as much detail as I have the energy to.
      There are a bunch of options inbetween too, cheaper versions of the headshot, cheaper versions of the fullbody (45$ for a fullbody with transparent bg for example)
      I'll include a link to the price-list in case you want to check it out later :0 sta.sh/0273nezj06h2

    Quick question! For the first layer of shading, where you blocked in a lot of the color and lighting, what layer mode is that? I've tried the same sort of method, having the base of light and shadow on the same layer rather than separate and the closest setting that gives a decent result is overlay and hard light.
    Thanks!

    • @Remarin
      @Remarin  6 років тому +4

      I use multiply! It's a bit limiting when dealing with dark-colored characters, so I actually brightened up the base-colors quite a bit before merging the multiply layer with the base. I'd say it works best if the colors for the light-areas are nearly fully bright, and the shadow-colors are still in the upper half of the light-dark spectrum. With overlay I'd usually run into the issue of the final merged colors becoming saturated instead of "darker" I think?
      Like "overlay" doesn't treat different shades of color equally, if that makes sense? If your base colors are very bright, try drawing with a really dark grey in an overlay layer on-top, there'll be barely any shadow while it will show up as near black on any base color that is in the darker area.
      Multiply instead is more straight forward, everything underneath it becomes "darker" so laying down the "value range" of the shading is applied equally on every color. And to compensate for the lack of "brightening" power, I'll usually just add some glow/gradient using overlay or any of the similar brightening settings afterwards.
      Though if overlay/hard light works for you, then that's the main thing that matters! It depends on how you use them after all :>

    So, do you do your commissions in chronological order, or is it a completely random choice which person you decide to do next?
    Also, are you alternating, as in doing one DA comm first, then a UA-cam comm, or are you doing one list first, then the other?
    (I know,, I'm sorry if I bombard you with a lot of questions ;-; )

    • @Remarin
      @Remarin  6 років тому +2

      Hey no worries, those are totally reasonable questions!! :3 The DA comms will be mainly done ""chronologically"" (compared the YT, those filled up in the span of 20 minutes, even though the DA list is 30 people instead of 10,, so the "order" was decided with mere minutes in between each person)
      Thus I decided I'll be splicing in some of the YT commissions in every batch of DA ones (one batch can be 5-10 people) so that the youtube-peeps wouldn't need to wait too long just because of a difference in platform :0

    How do you fill your line art in photoshop so accurate? Is it a plugin or something?

    • @Remarin
      @Remarin  6 років тому +1

      I use the standard magic wand tool, and to make it work, I am very careful to not leave any gaps between the lines that mark the edge of the "silhouette" :0 When selecting the "outside" area of the character, I then use the "refine edges" adjustments to expand the selection evenly. When inverting the selection and filling in the base-color, there thus will be less of a thick line of color outside of the lineart.

    what mode is your shading/lighting layer on, if any? overlay/multiply/luminosity/shade/etc? 👀📝

    • @Remarin
      @Remarin  6 років тому +1

      I use multiply to lay down the main work :> I occasionally have to brighten the original base coloring of characters if they are too dark, but other than that I apply that method to any and every drawing. And since multiply can only "darken" the colors, I'll often add some glow afterwards with overlay, hard light and/or screen (any of those, I just switch around and see what looks best)
