I see this as a reminder to have something with you at all times. You are not always "camping" and prepared with your appropriate gear!!! Great presentation to let people know of available products for "redundant" or emergency fire making. Not all people are aware of "old school" methods. i.e.- 1) "Bic" lighter (carry at least 2 on your person and 2 in your pack). I carry one everyday. They will spark ~5000 times and will do the same as this when "empty". "Tie wrap" the valve to prevent leaking. They will last for years. 2) As shown, Vaseline and cotton/TP/Cloth. 3) "Fatwood" stick. 4) Ferro rods (at least 2). Well done

I just ordered this one. Looks perfect for a DIY permanent match (sillica wick never burns up, and is sold at vape shops). Then i can just bring a small 5ml dropper bottle of fuel for alcohol stoves, which will allow me to choose between lighting the match, or add a couple of drops of fuel to a dry leaf or something, which should then light up pretty easily 👍

I use the nanospark to light my msr pocket rocket 2 stove when I use it. It fits in the stove’s case with the stove in it. I love it. It will also fit in the exotac match cap xl with a few storm matches and thin fat wood sticks and have enough room in the cap for some cotton balls and jute twine.

This and the titanlight will out last 1000 bic lighters, it pays for itself easily. A zippo is definitely a good item but this isn’t a lighter. The titanlight is better quality then a zippo and will hold its fluid for months and months. Something a zippo can’t do. It just depends on the quality and ability you want to have. I like to have all of the above. I have a bic in a Exotac fire sleeve, I have Exotac ferro rods, titanlight and the nanospark, along with their fire pull chords they make excellent quality

Hi, kid. Great video. Been working on empty quart empty cans from home depot or lowes. for small food storage in caches. I'm using nine of them. one for spices. the other eight for food - dry stuff. Food in a plastic baggie, then can with an oxygen absorber. Pack into a PVC bury tube and bury it with a post hole digger. Digging up test tube four, that I buried about five years ago.

Replace your Zippo cotton with REAL cotton and you have the same thing as this video with the bonus of having a lighter first, then when the gas runs out take some cotton from the back and spark it. Easy.. if your worried about water use a bike tube around the Zippo. The Zippo has more capacity also.. enough said.

I love Zippos - EXCEPT that the fuel will evaporate in about a week, which makes them kinda useless for me who only need it every once in a while. And if you use the striker/flint with a dry wick, then the wick will start to glow and burn up... If you keep a "permanent match" in the compartment of the nanospark, you can bring a small 5ml dropper bottle of fuel for alcohol stoves or gasoline or whatever, which gives you the option of using this fuel with the permanent match, or you could add a few drops to some dry leaf, and light this directly with the nanospark.
